  • This is the trip we made on Lord Toulouse from Preston on the Lancaster Canal to Tarleton on the Rufford branch of the Leeds and Liverpool Canal. We made the original journey from Tarleton to Preston on August 7th which can be seen here • Tarleton to Preston vi...
This video concentrates more on the link end and shows just how narrow and shallow it can be. That said it was a wonderful trip, not scary at all, and one every narrowboat owner should complete in his/her boating life.

Excellent! Savick Brook looked like a scene from 'African Queen'

Lovely piece of filming, I passed over the Blackpool road bridge today 23/3/2015 and we have had exceptional high spring tides this week and the water was covering all the grass banks and salt marshes but it must be very difficult steering a boat round thoes narrow corners of Savick brook Job well done

A great video, Thanks for sharing. I think I'll give tidal rivers a miss though

What kind of engine do you have? How fast were you going?

BETA Marine Traditional 'Tug' engine JD3. A fabulous engine that loved open waters. I didn't take note of the actual speed, we were pretty much flat out all the way. There was a window we had to beat before the tide turned and passage was restricted. I think there were six narrowboats and only one other made it with us. The rest had to go into the marina overnight and make the passage the next morning.

A shame we couldn't hear you over the wind halfway through the video, but still an enjoyable and interesting video nonetheless.

Big thumbs up for a great watch! That was quite a journey, do you find tidal trips stress the engine?
