Wow! Unbelievably equipped! It was nice to see that you take joy in the maintenance of a lot of these sophisticated systems. It will be fun to see you sailing this beauty.
That was as good as it could be - very informative and that boat is a total gamechanger......look perfect for you and your mission... keep it going-....
You've done a great job showing the boat around. Wow, that is a special boat, very unique! No v-verth. This boat has been gone through a total refit. I wish you had a video on the refit. Looking forward to follow your Atlantic passage. All the best
That was incredible. Great boat, well equipped. Struck me immediately at “typical German”. Lots of space on your boat. This should carry you safely anywhere you want to go. 👍
Awesome tour. Very precise and structured. I guess your autism is contributing to that and the way you have organised your boat. You have made great job. Your English is very comprehensive and your voice is great as well (with German way of speaking👍). I hope you will make other presentations. I will follow you from France to benefit your academic knowledge. Wish you the best. Alles bestens.,⛵
Hi Johannes , very happy to sée you and Fango in a very good shape. I wishe you all the best. Have a nice trip and keep me informed. Kindest regards Gérard
Gut gemacht Johannes. Weißt du noch wie viele Stunden wir im Netz nach Booten gesucht haben. Es hat sich gelohnt. Tolles Boot das du super ausgerüstet hast. Bin Stolz auf dich.
Thank you for the video. Well maintained and very well equiped boat. BTW I didn't know Amel did a 33ft. What's the name of this model? When was she built? Was she refited at Amel's shipyard?
Great video, wish you luck and good weather :D I really admire what you are doing. The boat looks beutiful, is it in so good shape from the bottom too? Did you have to refit it a lot?
@@sailingunited Great, I am really looking forward to see the following chapters of your project, I hope you are planning to document the whole atlantic crossing :)
Really clean and nice looking Amel. -- QUESTION -- Didn't know they made a 33 foot sailboat but it is very very nice looking. Can I ask what year it was made and, if you don't mind, how much this cost (or if you restored it, how much it cost to restore) as I am looking for that "perfect" sailboat to circumnavigate in.
Hallo Johannes, Very nicely set up boat for intended purpose. Was the decision of the modified Maramu mast for an increase in cross section, wall thickness, or both? How much additional weight aloft did this modification create? Any rigging size changes to accommodate the heavier mast? If I might be so bold, it might not be such a good idea to store gasoline and gasoline generator in an airtight compartment. Trapped fumes might accumulate as there is no escape path. (Gasoline fumes are heavier than air.) Perhaps the vented cockpit locker would be better?
You did a great job at giving us a tour of your boat.. I have a autistic nephew who is not as high functioning as you so I understand why you're nervous about being on camera.. just be yourself and be honest and viewers will love you and your content.. who's the manufacturer of your boat?? Your boat is 33 foot??? What an amazing sailboat especially for its size
Hi Johannes! Great, great video! Except short moment when camera lost focus nothing to complain. I agree 100% it is the most capable of 33 ft sailboat that I have seen. Thank you very much for sharing. Now I really, really want Amel :)
I haven't seen this model Amel before. It's an excellent single-hander, and you have set her up extremely well. I do think the main electrical panel is to at risk from water through the companionway.
Glad to see it has the No1 safety feature every off shore boat should have…five watertight compartments. Shame he didn’t show the watertight door. Now add a fully watertight main hatch. Surprised to see so many electric motors used to control sails etc. Glad to see he has plenty of spares, hope they all have easily operated manual override. It would not be my first choice, but then being able to quickly, easily reef does add to safety.
Well thought out small yacht. Limited bunks is for most people a negative. Personally I don't care for the steering step up on all Amels; too much like a power boat. Good choice but given the choice I would take a Hans Christian 33; much more livable and equally well built. Good luck.
I wouldn't prefere the H-C 33. They are rare and expensive this side of the atlantic. Too heavy, to small sailarea, too slow in low winds, too many berths for a solo sailor, too small, short cockpit, too much maintainance in tropical oceans with all the teak outside. And no, long keel boats are not generally better in heavy conditions.
So you have a very expensive boat which is very seaworthy. I see nothing interesting in your travelling anywhere in this boat. Anyone could do this. What work did you do to buy this?
Welp, the journey this boat is meant for didn’t even start yet. And yes, you are right, safety comes at a cost. Even if it’s monetary. As you say, everyone could do this. Never said otherwise 😂
@@wallabybob3020 I am not watching you, I did not follow you and am only replying to your direct comment. You mention autistic, like its the first thing you see running into your video, like its somehow incredible you can do this when autistic. This is what stuck in my craw. I am an aspie, when I was young in the 60s, we were abused severely. Now its some sort of excuse to be considered wonderful when you do simple normal things. Just bothers me. Go from abused nonhumans to being coddled. Good luck to you. Honestly. But, better if you say hey, look at my cool boat..I am lucky to have something like this, join me in enjoying it. Then I would be interested. Get my drift? Enjoy your boat. I have had 4, never managed to use one. Gone before I had a chance to, as the people I worked with thought it was fine to use the brilliant weirdo to raise money, then toss the weirdo out penniless when they got theirs. That's what it was like for us.
Hi, Johannes, you got an awsome go anywhere boat. Just the right boat for the purpose to sail far on your own. Big enough to handle really bad weather, small enough to sail it alone or with a second person. Optimized for easy sailing and for safe offshore journeys. Well made and solid, well protected for the helmsman in the cockpit. I envy you a bit for your beautiful and able Amel Fango. For my taste a bit too much of electric stuff, but you are obviously familiar with maintainig all these electric gimmics. All in all a boat in a quality and durability, how they are no longer made in this (smaller) size range. I wish you success, mindblowing experiences, fair winds and following seas!
Absolutely the very best boat walk through I've ever seen on UA-cam with detailed explanation. I will be subscribing to your channel.
Well done. Thank you I enjoyed your tour and presentation.
Great boat! I can't wait to follow your adventures! ❤

Everything so proper , wow! Legend!
This guy is awesome. Sending fair winds, good solar and lasting plumbing.
Seeing this young man travel, the world, renews my faith in the ability of this generation.
Excellent video. Very clear and your setup seems amazing. Good luck with your ongoing adventures.
Excellent tour. I have an autistic great-grandson, so I am following your adventure with great interest.

Nice tour,great boat!
Super impressed with the sailboat not to mention the knowledge to know all the systems on board and be able to fix them when down!
You did well on camera mate. Amazing little boat you have there!!
Cheers from Australia.
only 20 and living the dream on an awesome ship. well done!
dude, you give a great and detailed tour. Best luck going forward!!!

hey Johannes, thanks for sharing this video! quite cool!; which amel is this one?
She is an Amel FANGO. Built for and owned by henri Amel. There is only this one around as far as I know
oh wow @@sailingunited, thats pretty cool!. many thanks for the quick reply! :D
30 Fango were built, but that one is a special one... apparently... for solo blue water sailing.
@@BStrapper Wow! I didn’t know that! But where are the other ones? Would love to meet a fellow owner
