I am a patient safety sitter at a hospital. They did have me sit with Covid patients for 4 hours than only one 30 minute break then sit another 3 1/2 hours. I did not get covid but I was scared. You type what the patient is doing every 15 minutes. Most are confused and have mental and substance abuse conditions. The pay is $1.00 less than a Patient Care Tech. I do love my job helping people.

You take care of individuals (all ages) who are declared IVC, suicidal, safety, drug users, alcoholics, mental Illnesses and COVID. You see the bad and the ugly, but there is some good out of it too. I love going in and try to make a difference in their stay. Being an active listener, having a passionate heart, showing safety attendant to patient professionalism care and showing love to patients without growing attach are wonderful attributes to get the job done and love it at the same time 😊
@@foreverzoria The job is dangerous but rewarding. The pay will differ where you live (state and healthcare organization) and the shift you work. I get paid $16 an hour. It is a job I have until I finish grad school 😊
Usually it's hospital scrub. It's depending on how cold your area. I would just wear a black t-shirt and regular scrub. For some who get cold easily, they would wear a long sleeve shirt under their hospital scrub. Most popular scrub brands will be fine. U don't really wear scrub for warmth. I recommend long sleeve or jacket if ur hospital allows u to wear them.
patient transporter is a good entry level job in hospital. I had a co-worker who started as patient transporter while going to nursing school. He is now a nurse. Just apply to your nearby hospitals. It depends if they have job opening. Good luck!

I recommend you to go toward being a Certified nurse assistant (CNA) or patient transporter in the hospital if you want to eventually be a nurse. Medical assistant has long school. You can work as patient transporter or CNA while studying to become a nurse

Yes. You can. Or you can try patient transporter in the hospital, assuming you can move patient from bed to gurney. Or work as mental health worker, some places will even take 18 y/o without experience if they are short staff. You just need 1 year experience and can start apply for MA job

If you have any medical experience be sure to tell them about that. Never asks what's the pay. You'll find out once they hire you and then it's your decision whether or not you want to take it or not. Easy Job, Easy Money, You will get it.
It reallly depends on the patient and the hospital. Majority of the time, no; u just need to guide the patient back to the bed or make sure patient doesn't fall. However, some hospitals have more critical patients or more violent cases (hx of drug/alchohol abuse, ect.) might be more tougher.
It really depending on who your patient is... some hospital and facility will just want you to watch patient for any behavior/health changes, while others will want you to have more direct care w/ patient and help them w/ basic tasks... so it really depends :) read up on the job description when you apply for the job & double check in the interview when they ask if u have any question for them

Not really, if the patient you are watching in a hospital room, there is a wall O2 that hook up to the patient. Unless patient is being transport to get exam like CT/Xray, but the RN and the tech will check on the O2. Your priority is to check and observe the patient's overall condition and report any changes
@@ttejcastillo the pt usually hooked up to vital machine & the sitter just has to make sure it doesn't change much (stable). If not hooked up, the RN or CNA will do routine vital checks

Read book yes as long as you also watch the pt or pt is asleep. Watch TV only if there is a TV inside the room with patient. Not on your phone.
