Love the ideas for light and things to hold the cameras to achieve the angles you have. Makes me appreciate it a whole lot more too seeing what effort goes into not only the drumming, but the set-up, lack of sleep during normal hours and screaming kidneys (seriously that screaming kidney thing had me laughing for ages). It's awesome that something you love to do entertains so many other people too =)
I think I just need to say on behalf of all who enjoy your videos Cobus, that its really awesome how you do this much work (a really ridiculous unbeliveable amount) for others to watch and enjoy. I really respect you for your dedication (switching your sleeping patterns!) I think your videos are amazing, and I am gonna keep watching all the way. I am on the road to buying your DVD and a hoodie! Thanks again Cobus, we love you. Thumbs up to get this to the top of the comments on Cobus's new Vid!
Really creative with all the cameras!!! It made me laugh Lol.. It's also amazing how much you have improved from your old videos to todays!! Your blisters says it all!!!!
Ya, thats right. You can really see how much effort and ambition in this guy is. This really is inspiring and makes me happy in the same time. So Cobus, keep it up, cause this will definitely pay off! You have the right attitude for this.
@etonndrums I just start them all myself, since I use DV tapes I can record for an hour at a time. that's why I record the videos in "sets" of one hour each, so I just record them back to back for an hour at a time.
Just stopping by to say: You are amazing. Very little people can be as humble as you are after getting to be as famous as you are. You are a great person and an unbelievable drummer! Can't wait for the next series, i hope you don't fail to amuse me which i highly doubt! Stay gold man, stay gold.
improvised tripod/camera stand, lights, so much blister in hands, jug, church drummer, many friends to borrow camera, after watching this you are really now my favorite drummer.. \m/ rock on to God..
i dont think theres antone out there who deserves the fame and rewards as cobus, he puts so much effort in and is such a genuinly nice guy, i wish you all the best m8 and hope you remember us youtubers when your selling out stadiums
Finally :) ...thanks a lot buddy. It's really cool to finally get to see the place were all the magic happened through all of these years. The church looks incredible; beautiful. cheers MAITY!
You are truly an inspiration, to set up all your equiptment by yourself and play throughout the night, that's dedication. Never stop doing what your doing. I hope others will see this and see you as a role model. Bravo Cobus. I do have a question though, how did you manage to get a church for recording space?
I totally get my hands in the same state. You don't really notice until the adrenalin stops or when one pops and you get a slippery stick. haha. Way to go cobus, you deserve all the respect for all your hard work.
whoa, that was a church? All this time I thought it was like a garage or basement or something. Cool stuff, Cobus! I can tell you really put a lot of time and hard work into this. Can't wait for more awesome videos!
aweeesome!!! ive always been wanting to record audio and video and put em together just like u have!! i like the angles and lighting!! ur as real as anyone else!! u havent let all ur good sucess get to u!
I had the same problem as you with the blisters until I got some drumming gloves, I highly recommend them, you can't just use any gloves because of grip issues you'll need to get some drummer's gloves which has grip and also protect your hands.
"As you can see...I have a table...and a table on a table....and a table on a table on a table....and a speaker on a table on a table on a table" So amazing hahaha
"i got a table, i got a table on a table, i got a table on a table on a table, then i got a speaker on a table on a table on a table." LOL i love this guy
Cobus, I'd love for you to make a video series on how you make these soundtracks that have no drums...the whole video process, really. I'd love to learn how to make videos like you do. It's really cool!
Ha! Awesome MacGyver setup...duct tape and "a table on a table on a table". 3-4 hours to pack up? Wow. I can imagine the excitement of recording in your next place where you can keep things set up. Thanks for the behind-the-scenes look!
@patsgrant001 I also play drums in my church, is the best place to play because there is already all the equipment I need and more is a big place where you do not bother if you play hard. :)
Thats awesome man.. I always wondered where you recorded your stuff.. I thought it was in a basement as it always looked like stairs behind me.. but WOAHHH its a freakin auditorium!!
Hes never gunna record there again i will miss it he had such good quality and jus the general look of that camra shot you instantly new it is a cobus video :'(
@DarrenXVanXDerXMerwe If you havent got rid of those blisters, here's a tip :) Dont use bandage when you play, or gloves or anything. Just natural and put on bandage afterwards. It hurts like hell at the moment but it harden your skin to the maximum on the thumbs and the pointingfinger :) i never get really bad blisters anymore and I play 1 hour everyday :)
@d12homie999 Not sure if his situation is the same, but my drums stay at church. I have a key and can go practice anytime. Obvously, Sunday morning I'm playing for the church, but the rest of the week I can do whatever. It's a perfect situation for doing drum covers.
"That is a table. And that is a table on a table. And that is a table on a table on a table. And that is a speaker on a table on a table on a table." lmao
WOW!~ I just wanted to know how it all works - and here it is - A VIDEO - LOVE HOW THE UNIVERSE WORKS!~ Anyways - wow I never knew that you had that MANY camera angles... Quick Q - for anyone who knows ...what program do you use to edit the videos...? Awesome!~
thats an awesome venue to play at... do you have to set up from the beginning everytime you want to play? lol i know how annoying it gets cos im a DJ.. good to see your dedication to music... you have a new fan ! (me)
Nice one Cobus! I really Liked it, and i think everybody did! Looking or trying to discover where you make your videos was a mistery to me... A Sweet mistery that you finally showed us! =] I wish you the best on your new "Cover Place", and I think i'll miss the briks wall for sometime.... Hugs!
Wow! I always thought you had a pro setup and people helping you out and all that 'cause I mean.. You're vids are briliant! But it turned out you had a couple of lamps as lights and tables on top of tables on top of tables with a amplifier or whatever on top of them... I gotta hand it to you, it's impressive!
Cobus-"maybe 20-30 centimeters below that, wooden....what the flip is that??? i don't know what that is." Cobus-"Another light source, Yeah...does the job, don't mock me" Cobus-"i got a speaker on a table on a table on a table" -this is why he's my idol- (and his drumming to)
Really cool setup, dude! How do you keep the cams synchronized? Do you sync manually when editing or do you have them all rigged via cable and sync 'em live? I wonder if that's even possible with consumer cams...
Hey Cobus, i think al the videos you put up are really awesome and im always checking up for new ones, bu anyway i had a few questions for you. I was wondering 1. whats pedals you started off with 2.what brand the drums are in this video and finally 3. how did you get all the drums painted that way? did they come like that or did you send them somewhere? Thanks and i hope to hear back from you soon and good luck with your career as a drummer, although im sure you wont need it ;D
Haha, I laugh as much everytime I see this. "I've got a table, a table on the table, and a table on the table on the table. And a speaker on the table on the table on the table."
nice video cobus, you've written on Facebook that yo've got the chance to play in these chucrch, because you've played for the church band for 4 years. Where are you now playing/recording your drum vieos and how did you get there?
your church is massive! mine's no where near as big. aha love how practical your setup is, nearly as bad as mine.. and there was me thinking you were a pro. joke Mr.C, much love for you xx
Hey Cobus, is that church still active or do you have to set up every time because of the masses held in there? That is just amazing that you have a church for your place to make videos. I guess the church of our Lord accepts a certain special talented person :) KEEP IT UP. LAUS DEO SEMPER ALL THE WAY :)
Dudee cobus ur awesomeee and this set up in the curch is awesomee i wish you stayed there but its ok ur awesome... how about giving us some advise on drumming that you've learned on ur own? @szicu29 That's cool, that is why I put the whole unless you weren't being thing. I generally don't know. But on youtube you could see why I assume lol.
hey cobus, just wondering, do you set it up and pack away every time you go there? or do you leave everything there? i know your in america at the moment, but i was just wondering from the past ;)
You change you body clock just to play drums 3 in the morning so as to not bother anyone? Pretty Nice. You are, really. :) Keep it up! That's why you're so blessed. & you deserve it all man!
In case you should read this Cobus, what equipment do you use to record the drums? Except of a full set of decent to good mics of course. I'm having problems finding a good, affordable interface with 8 mic-lines or more, which you kinda need to record the entire kit. What's your setup? Thanks, peace out. :)
wait do they jsut let u leave the drums in the church? cuz i dont think u can bring all that in every day... like the speaker on a table on a table on a table
wow ~ so that's your studio, amazing ! and your describing is soooo funny ! tables on the table... lol lol lol lol ~ BTW, what happened to your hands? your fingers ? what are the wound bandage about ? you get hurt or what ? or they are just kind of protection? take care man !!

i dont get why you get blisters... like ive been playn set since i was 10, not 15, and i dont ever get blisters anymore.. i only did with those stick that had the rubber grip.. and i drum hard to song covers too
How is this already 7 years old? I remember when this series was hot off the presses. Good times. Thanks for the memories, Cobus.
Love the ideas for light and things to hold the cameras to achieve the angles you have. This is my favorite series.
Your english has gotten much better since you're in the states! Comparing this to your second Behind The Cover...woah.

I seriously never would have guessed that he recorded these videos at a church. With 100% borrowed equipment, none the less.
@shellavation Sorry about that man, but he already has a series called the Blister Series.
Cobus-"maybe 20-30 centimeters below that, wooden....what the flip is that??? i don't know what that is."
Cobus-"Another light source, Yeah...does the job, don't mock me"

(and his drumming to)
Really cool setup, dude! How do you keep the cams synchronized? Do you sync manually when editing or do you have them all rigged via cable and sync 'em live? I wonder if that's even possible with consumer cams...
Cobus should do vlogs daily or every other day, or even weekly, because I'm sure he's busy but it would be wicked cool :)
im not really sure but i think the footage that he shows on the camera at 3:55 is Anthem Part 2 by blink 182.
The next series should be back in this church!
The best vlog you have done, it's very interesting going behind the scenes. Superb :)
I didn't know Cobus had an accent! That makes him, like, the coolest dude ever!
"If you listen really closely.... you can hear my kidneys screaming."
Lol, that was funny.
Hey Cobus, i think al the videos you put up are really awesome and im always checking up for new ones, bu anyway i had a few questions for you. @cobus I always wanted to ask. Approximately how many takes do you take to complete recording one song? :)
@szicu29 That's cool, that is why I put the whole unless you weren't being thing. I generally don't know. But on youtube you could see why I assume lol.
Cobus, I think Everyone wants to know What do you do with all your old Drum Sets????
yes I can hear your kidney screaming"i'm not your heart but i love you cobus!"
