If you think that Benny Greb came up with this, then you are ignorant. He just made it famous. Plenty of drummers did this before him. Cobus is just inspired by these guys and giving everyone a lesson on how it can be applied. Thank you Cobus.
I'mma be honest, i tell everybody cobus is the best drummer i've ever heard. sure there are drummers who's faster, or who have more patterns, but cobus has an amazing high skill in both, which makes him the best imo.
I get inspired everytime I see your videos :D You´re one of the best drumers a had ever see in my life, Someday I want to be as good as you are! Saludos desde COSTA RICA!
This is awesome! I saw you using this technique in another video and then I found THIS video! I came across this technique myself once when I was being lazy and resting the butt of my stick on my snare. TONS OF POSSIBILITIES!!!! Thanks for what youre doing!
i like playing this technique with the left hand doing the shuffle pattern on the snare, so you kind of have triplet ghost notes throughout the whole groove
Dang it i figured this out a few months ago messin around on a friends kit and now that cobus figured it out its HIS and im gonna be in so much debt XD LOL
Awesome! I've just been messing around with this grove. Really like how it acts almost like a ghost note. Nice and quiet in the background, sounds really smart! Impressive! :). I'm loving these videos
honestly, i came up with this "idea" when i was fucking around on my drum kit in 8th grade. i had no idea any other drummer knew this until i showed it to my high school band teacher two years later when he pointed me to benny's dvd. if you honestly look at the origins of drumming 90% of rudiments came from rajasthani and african drumming--they are just presented in different ways. nothing is original, especially in 2012, it's all about spreading and mixing ideas now.
Wow cobus you have been alwaar à big insparation for me. Your technics helper me to get where i am now. My dream is to one dat jam with you. Cobus keep up The good work!
Excellent reply Cobus! Also I haven't yet watched the other aforementioned drummers with this technique yet, but I really like your take on it. It just all seems to flow together :)
Cobus you need not worry about 1 or 2 crappy comments. You have and continue inspiring drummers the world around! I have been playing drums about as long as you've been alive and I respect what you do. @allywill1985 I never heard of Benny Greb until now(good freakin' drummer) but Cobus explained and gave credit to where he had gotten the lick from. Cobus keep doing what you're doing man!!
You really made me think about getting the dvd as well as a drum set. Absolutely love(!!!) the lessons which ive seen so far. Do you (anybody who reads this) give me an advice what kind of drumset i should get as a beginner? Should be an e-drum set tho (with meshpads) just because i dont want to disturb my neighbours :D
it's been a while cobus! and this is a really nice lesson for training my left hand :D basically playing 16th notes starting with my "inferior" hand... good practice! oh and your hair's pretty long now :)) not saying it's a bad thing though... do whatever you please
Dear Cobus. i have watched you're videos for the last three years or so and must say i got really into your style of drumming and sound with your TRX cymbals, but in my opinion the TRX suited you so well and having seen your announcement i was really disappointed that you went from really, really good cymbals to really good cymbals. I know it was your decision to swap but if you would cover one song you have already done with your TRX cymbals with your Sabian cymbals it would really mean a lot.
That's a very destructive thing to say and I respectfully disagree wholeheartedly. If I compare myself to the drummers who are better than me before I try to help other drummers, I would never be able to help anybody :) There are SO many drummers who blow me away, I know that. But it INSPIRES me! Benny inspires me, Gerald Heyward inspires me (this first guy I saw using this technique) and I am trying my best to introduce MORE drummers to this idea.
Hey Cobus, I'm a professional video editor and I would really like to edit some raw footage of you playing the drum from different angles and shots. Is there a link I could download such footage?
Cobus specifically stated multiple times in the video that he got the idea from Jarold Hayworth. Cobus just used the concept to come up with his own application (beat). You should clean the wax out of your ears so you can hear better.
That's completely irrelevant to what I was saying. I don't care how good a drummer is. If Cobus has inspired people to use this and grow as a drummer, then great! Why start comparing and ripping into Cobus' ability? The guy has made plenty of drummers want to be better, regardless of how he compares to others.
Usually I find these lessons difficult, but this one seems to come naturally. I really enjoy playing this. Lekker maklik.
If you think that Benny Greb came up with this, then you are ignorant. He just made it famous. Plenty of drummers did this before him. Cobus is just inspired by these guys and giving everyone a lesson on how it can be applied. Thank you Cobus.
Totally gonna use this. Always like when
Benny did it. Thanks Cobus!
I'm not a drummer, but I can't help but watch these videos.

Cobus please stop being a god on drums. It's depressing me watching these videos that I can't get to a kit right now!!!!!!!
I love the sound of your snare!
This is awesome! I saw you using this technique in another video and then I found THIS video! I came across this technique myself once when I was being lazy and resting the butt of my stick on my snare. TONS OF POSSIBILITIES!!!!
Thanks for what youre doing!
Really like that groove...love the sound of your kick too
sick. you never stop to impress me
Love it! You think of so many different ways!
Wow Cobus you the man!
Wow!!!! I never though to use it like that to add the ghost hit on snare!! Thank you!!
finally a new video . it's good to see you again , awsome video and lesson :)
i like playing this technique with the left hand doing the shuffle pattern on the snare, so you kind of have triplet ghost notes throughout the whole groove

great , awesome , is cobus .
Great video! Cobus :) looks quite simple, but never really noticed this little trick before. Thank you :)
pretty easy and amazing!
I saw Benny Greb do this in one of his solos on UA-cam, not sure if this is something you've seen him do, but you guys both execute it very well.
"Once take to produce it can sounds ice or gel they were doing" - You were right, I would laugh my ass off.
Hey, Cobus, when are you going to come out with your next series? Can't wait for it!
Joel is NOT being kind or friendly. Be inspired, inspire others. I'm....inspired!

Cobus the best one :)
I don't even play drums, just love Cobus! :] and it's fucking fascinating!
Love his right foot!
Wow cobus you have been alwaar à big insparation for me. Your technics helper me to get where i am now. My dream is to one dat jam with you. Cobus keep up The good work!
it looked really hard when you started playing in the beginning but it seems easy after your explanations !
Excellent reply Cobus! Also I haven't yet watched the other aforementioned drummers with this technique yet, but I really like your take on it. It just all seems to flow together :)
sounds simple enough cobus might muck around with this idea

it's been a while cobus! and this is a really nice lesson for training my left hand :D basically playing 16th notes starting with my "inferior" hand... good practice! oh and your hair's pretty long now :)) not saying it's a bad thing though... do whatever you please

When is the next cover coming out?
i love looking at the transcript. XD

What kind of pedal do you have. I had problems to but once I switched to a long board I didn't have a problem.
I get excited when I hit 50 views when I upload a drum video within 20 minutes!
he kinda did in his video TRIBUTE Part I there are like 3 songs :) it's pretty awesome haha. :D
What tensions and stuff do you use on your kick pedals!?
i think chris kamrada plays a similar groove in his justin bieber cover. this is awesome stuff.
Cobus, please tell me, why are you so darn good lookin'?
but even your a great drummer my friend :D you blow me awayy :p :D
No one does it like Benny.
First time I get to see less likes than views in less than a day when the video has been uploaded :D

How about doing it yourself?
