I’ve been cheated on, too, & I wasn’t self-confident enough to break things off.
I thought I could just go on and that it would hurt less, but it didn’t. Not as long as I was still with her & it blew up into me being this toxic and hateful person.
So much so, that she called it quits for us. And let me tell you, there’s no deeper humiliation and shame in being dumped by the woman who’d previously cheated on you. I can’t think of a worse emotional kick to the proverbial jewels.
Weirdly, I coped by telling myself that part of my heart is dead. Put it away, shut it down and do not touch for the rest of my life. Forming that delusion helped and I’m not sorry.
