I have a coloured picture of the canal and viaduct, the artist was at the tunnel end. I also have a black and white drawing of the tunnel entrance. The pictures were taken from a calendar. My brother and sister-in-law had them framed for my late mother’s birthday. We had a family friend who lived at Chirk Bank and we often used to walk along the towpath and across the aqueduct to the shops.
Lovely wooded area.. The its all Greek song is perfectly fitting.. I like it because you hum along...😊😊...I Enjoy the guitar...all of your artistry ...beautifect ectul cruise....I'm pretending there's no plywood factory beyond the trees..😃. Thank you!😁 the visual effect when emerging from the tunnels is amazing..its like colorless. Then coming out into a new world..very luscious and green its lovely..😊❤
So nice to see and hear the No1 vloger on U Tube again Phil. Lovely scenery in this vlog a journey we had the pleasure of making several years ago and getting a job offer at Chirk marina when we took the hire boat back ! From my boating skills would you believe ! Keep safe and dry.
My wife and I are booked to hire a boat in two weeks time, the intention is to cruise this very canal but I fear it will need to be cancelled. I've loved watching your videos, they have given a real picture of the joy and serenity we could expect, in particular the footage of the canal itself has made me lie awake at night imagining the holiday. The way things are looking it will have to wait until next year because of the worldwide situation but thank you so much for what you take the trouble to do for us.
Charley Farley sorry to hear about your trip being cancelled. We are in the throws of cancelling ours for this August. Were you able to get your money back?
@@grahambaker5235 I haven't cancelled yet, I'm expecting that the Govt will actually clarify the 'essential travel only' bit because at that point my holiday insurance pays up. Right now the hire company is all 'come and join the fun, no problem here' and CRT also state the canals are open. Hire company are offering alternative dates but no refunds but wife's work mean Easter is the only time we get enough consecutive days off for this particular trip, 10 days to get from Northwich to Llangollen and back was the plan. Problem is I doubt we could carry 10 days of food and I'm not sure when we could get shopping what with the supermarket sweep game that's going on. I'm thinking of swapping for 7 days from Chirk next Easter. There are much worse things going on than my holiday but it's still disappointing. I'll look forward to these brilliant videos though, I absolutely love them.
Morning Phil great video looks lovely between the tress Greg viewers as well ,,looks so peaceful, thank you for the trip keep safe in this worrying times ,John
Another excellent vlog Phil and lovely accompanying music. Thanks very much. Our planned trip from New Zealand to do this Llangollen cruise has been put on hold unfortunately due to the Coronavirus. Very disappointed.
Thank you. Yes, it's a very annoying situation. I hope the hire companies survive the disruption? Hopefully it will all be over quicker than they are expecting..?
Thankyou for this lovely peaceful chilled out video in a world that has gone crazy you are a ray of hope stay safe my friend hug Bushka and Midge for me:))
It's always lovely to watch your vlogs, Phil. You focus on the scenery where many of the vloggers focus on this faces and do too much talking. Music lovely as well. Jane Philadelphia
When I filmed there last year I stayed at Chirk and you could smell that factory all the time. I loved my walk from the tunnel up to the aquaduct. Hope you are ok Phil. Take care.
Watched many of David's Vlogs and thought he was the best around. David is very good but you are better in my humble opinion. Two things I like more about your videos. Number one is background noise. David tends to talk a lot which I understand given his background in broadcasting. You talk only when you have something relevant to say. My favorite background is the sound of your engine because then I am literally on the boat. Your music is also very soothing. Number two is your intro to many of your vlogs which displays a map at the beginning which tells us where you are and where you are going. David's excuse is copyright infringement which is another excuse for lazy.
Thank you Cara, that's a very nice thing to say. It's fine to use Google Earth maps for online use, though if I was selling the videos I would probably need to purchase a licence.
@@NarrowboatJourneys I have one very minor complaint. Barnaby, my very mini Schnauze,r is often in my arms when I watch your Vlogs. Your cat's introductory MEOW gets Barnaby's attention very quickly :)
Is that a new song, from 7:00 to 8:45? Very nice, especially with the birds and your background singing. The scenery is spectacular coming out of the tunnels and into the wooded cuttings. Hope you're keeping well with the current madness in the world. Cheers Phil
Did you have any problems with "grounding" in any of the shallower parts? I used to have a fibreglass Dawncraft that floated quite high in the water but my later liveaboard with steel hull would often catch on the bottom of the canal. Just wondering if maybe there'd been some dredging done in the last ten years or so?
Lovely video. You made the tunnels look easy! I did these a while ago and got pinned against the side walls. Going through again soon, any tips to manage it better? Thanks.
It's the flow that makes it difficult. All you can do is try to keep away from the tunnel walls. Turn lights on in the boat so you can see the sides of the tunnel.
This vlog is still damn near breath taking....any time I need a cheer up I must remember this one ....😻

Nice time of day for the light, the colors are mesmerizing. Really enjoyed the music, especially the first song.
Thank you. One day I will re-record that tune and expand it a bit.

Absolutely stunning at the tunnel exit. Great filming.
Many thanks!

Meuow! At last he has let us out! Very enjoyable video Phil, thank you.
Hi Phil hope you and your lovely Cats are in a safe place right now. Xx
That is beautiful view as you came out of the tunnel, and 4x was a good choice in tunnel. Thanks for another wonderful experience.

Phil, I get so chilled when watching your videos. Just what is needed right now.
Thank you. Perhaps I should change my name to Dr Chill? ;-)
Some mesmerising scenery. Always look forward to seeing the cats. 😊🐱🐱😊
Another good 'un, so keep on keeping on !! As per your tunnels, we shall all come out the other side sometime hopefully. Best wishes.
I hope you and the cats are holed up somewhere safe from this bloody virus.

Beautiful music Phil! 🙂
I love the lighting in your early AM episodes. The forests of old England must have been epic.
Thank you so much Phil, love the sunlight as you emerge from the Whitehouses Tunnel, jusr beautiful. Take care

Thank you Jane. You are right, the cruising videos are not about me - just the journey. :-)
Great vlog. So nice and relaxing.
I should have said the pictures are on my lounge wall and I glance at them when ever I see the same scene on a Narrowboat journey.
Really lovely being able to watch these videos, with all the sad news on tv at the moment , we did the same trip last year, beautiful 😊
When I filmed there last year I stayed at Chirk and you could smell that factory all the time. I loved my walk from the tunnel up to the aquaduct. Hope you are ok Phil. Take care.
The wind must have been blowing another way when I was there. I just saw the steam.
The smell usually emanates from the chocolate factory. Kronospan the factory, produces steam, noise and processes wood in vast quantities....

Thanks Tim, that's an old tune "Woodsong". I keep meaning to re-record and expand it a bit...

I didn't have a problem, but some do. I don't know about the dredging. I'm not local to the area.

Kronospan is a massive employer in the area, so I think you are a bit harsh on them.
