Can I just state that I appreciate you just getting straight to business. I understand why people put introductions in their videos, but man, some of them take too long and that's presuming they're not doing an read ad right out the gate.
Thanks. There is an introduction, but I put it after number 2. Seems to work pretty good.
@@GamingTheSystems1 Yes, it does, it is a really nice Change in Pace.
Edit, I meant to say it's after number 8.
I received a Vectrex for Christmas in the 80s when they went on clearance . I actually still have it and all of my original games . It's my favorite vintage console . I played a lot of Mine Storm , Berzerk , Star Trek and Blitz which was more fun than it should've been . I've got a few of the homebrews and custom controllers by Fury Unlimited and a Sean Kelly multicart , I've also got a Sean Kelly dust cover for the Vectrex console which I highly recommend .
That's so odd. I ordered an overlay off Ebay, and it came from Sean Kelly. I didn't realize he was famous for this type of stuff.
@@GamingTheSystems1 That he is .
Nice seeing the Vectrex getting some love on your channel. The homebrews are pretty amazing. I would check out Vector Patrol and Vector Pilot for sure.
I was surprised to not see Pole Position on your top 10 list. At least Scramble made the list, both are two of my personal favorites.
As a gamer who started gaming in the early 80’s I can honestly say I have never seen a vectrex in action. Not even on you tube. It seems like something I would have loved. (I loved the virtual boy btw). Fantastic video I need to try one of these out somehow. Me and my little homies love your videos!
My next door childhood Neighbor may had a Vectrex because every time a Vectrex video comes up it reminds me him
Interesting video. As someone who grew up long after the Vectrex's release, I hadn't heard of really any of these titles. So thank you for sharing.
Great list! I had all of those and they were all very fun. Two of my favorites that you left off your list were Star Castle and Star Trek. Both were really fun. Loved Blitz as well as it was the best 2-Player game if you had a second controller. We would have entire seasons with my friends with playoffs and a Superbowl game as well.
Great list with a lot of arcade shooters ! I played Armor Attack and Blitz a lot, I found them very addictive and they got 2-player mode like Solar Quest.
Finally I discovered this system again. When I was 4-5 years old, my best friend had the Vectrex (I didn't know the name, until i finally found it here) , and it was so satisfying to see Minestorm and Scramble again for the first time in 40 years. Now, I just need to find my old childhood friend :-D Thanks for the video!
Scramble and Mine Storm were my favorites to play.
I didn't have a Vectrex. Much like you, I had a friend with one. I had completely forgot about Narzod! It was fun.
A tip on Mine Storm, shoot the regular mines first and when they become magnetic and shooting fireballs, fly around in circles until they clump together and blast away, but be careful!
The multi carts are cool and have some homebrews but there are tons worth playing not on a multi.... Vectorblade, vector patrol, vyrzon, etc! Wet Cat is a fun one that came out 2023.
I wish I could get my hands on a vectrex, I remember as a kid having one and the monitor stopped working we brought it to a tv repair place and at that time they wanted way too much to repair it if my memory is correct. I definitely need to try and pick another one up.
A few years ago I saw a Vetrex at my local antique store. I thought about buying it but ended up passing on it. A few weeks later someone else bought it. I regret not buying it because I've never come across another one.
Good job as always. Nice to see the old VTX get some love 🤩
Nice video and some interesting choices in the top 10 like Spike.
I do like Spike, too, but I find the gameplay a bit fiddly. Speech is also a nice addition in Spike.
So I can understand your list.
Have you tried homebrews yet?
Vector Pilot and Vector Patrol are wonderful games by that Vectrex magician Kristof Tuts.
Vector Patrol is sheer black magic.
There is also a Star Wars game I still have to check out myself. Rumor has it that it's really good.
Gots to get one of these bad boys… thanks for the video
One weird thing, i believe I first played Vetrex at a doctor/dentist office waiting room of all places. I think I played the asteroids type game.
Hardey Harr Harr!!!
I can't believe that you've not included Rip off!.
This console is very fascinating! Thanks for this! I really find smooth textureless polygons really charming to look at, but there's something even cooler at looking at these vector graphics on real sharp displays, and even today, despite technology advancing so much, nothing has really been able to surpass how clean these vector graphics look. I always wonder if we'll ever get some sort of successor to the long obsolete vector monitors, like a vector based LCD screen. The closest I've seen are some light projectors that were trying to emulate these arcade games, and they look really good. And it's a shame the Vectrex was the only vector based console to ever come out. Though it's a no wonder they died out, as raster graphics can do basically everything that they can do, but in more complex detail. I think there's a hobbyist following for it nowadays. Do you know if there was ever a 3D platformer that was made with this vector technology?
Never played this system. Only heard of it and seen some videos. Simple, but at the same time cool aesthetics. Gives me "TRON" vibes here and there.
I am genuinely impressed by all of the games on this.
He is a hero, but needs to lock his girlfriend's door.
Thanks for an interesting video! I wish I had vectrex when I was a kid. I hope I can pick one up at some point. 💸
A Vectrex is definitely on my bucket list of consoles to own in my collection.
Im not sure why, but Spike is very impressive to me. I know it seems like an offset version of donkey kong, but it really appeals to me. Would like to try it
There's a cool blacklight thing you can get that clips over the screen and it has special overlays for it, there's even one thats 3D and makes it look like theres little stars floating around
Aye! It’s annoying how the guy who makes the frames won’t email back at the moment…
Never seen a Vectrex in Real Life, but guessing from the Video it must look really nice if you have it infront of you.
As Colors in some Games often pop out reeeally nice on CRTs and i can't replicate it on my LCDs.
It even looks better in person; the camera makes it look like it's flashing a lot more than it actually does.
I always see the Vectrex in retro game stores near me. Usually, they are the most affordable stuff I the stores, but It's not my thing. But I do think It is an interesting concept from back then. Cool video. ^_^
That was a great list I wouldn't be able to do that cuz I only own 11 games so I'd have to give one an honorable mention
I passed on an opportunity to buy one of these at a pawn shop a while ago. I wouldn’t mind grabbing a Vectrex one of these days.
I cleared minestorm its 100 levels i did this several times when i was young some mines were invisible it best game ive ever played still have it since 1982 need new joystick
I LOVED my Vectrex! LOVED IT! ❤❤😀🖖🙏🌍
Love it.
Never played this system, but looks interesting.
Next up: my top 22 Virtual Boy games
I likely won't do 22, but a Top 10 is on my long-term list.
I think theres only 22 total games in the us 🤫
@@MrSlicktherick that was the joke
Hi, May I ask u how you secured the overlay's to the wall. Looks great!
Never actually seen this played anywhere … first time seeing this played cool! I’ve seen it I think one time in person … not sure it’s my cup of tea… I feel that era of video games is really special to 70’s and 80’s kids 90’s and early 2000’s it doesn’t have the same appeal … idk why
Playing these on my emulator but i am fascinated by this technology and i may have played it somewhere at some point
Vectrex is a interesting console. I wish I had one. Maybe one day
Star Castle was my favorite.
Maravillosa consola, genial que muestren los juegos de está genial maquina.
Highly engaging!
Star Trek is my #1 pick and Armor Attack is top 10 as well
I only have one Vectrex game (apart from MineStorm), and that's Star Trek: The Motion Picture: The Game... Any thoughts on that one? I think it's reasonably entertaining, though it feels more like Star Wars than Star Trek.
Pole Position and Armour Attack 👍🏻
Buen video
Da ganas de probar una Vetrex
Es lamentable que este hobby se este encareciendo con los años
I think you should make videos showcasing playing old odder systems. The VHS and tv overlays went with the odyssey were at the bottom of your console ranking list but I found those oddly looking and I think would make a fun UA-cam video not ranking the games but discussing the technology. Would I like playing them? I don't know. Storing them at house? Definitely not but a UA-cam video? For sure.
They just look different maybe moreso compared to a board game than video game. The VHS systems also I am curious about. They just look odd.
6:34 Klassisch! Die Musik ist der Walkürenritt von Wagner!
is your vectrex modded? I didn't hear any of the famous buzzing.
It buzzes. The camera mic wasn't close enough.
get a multi cart ... there's some awesome new games out there 😊
i want a vectrex so bad
Must not be a sports guy because he left Blitz off which I thought was pretty amazing for its time.
No Star Castle?
I played a lot of it in prepping for this video, but it doesn't hold my attention as much as the others.
Blasphemy!
Berzerk @ 04:32 runs much faster on a PiTrex cart !!!
Do yourself a favor and get a Pitrex which acts like a multi cart
