We love CLE LA. I also love how it teaches real-world skills, such as letter writing, addressing an envelope, and the difference between an index, table of contents, and glossary. I love that my kids now know how to use an encyclopedia in the library or find a name in a directory. Other LA programs don't teach this. The curriculum, in general, is the only one I've found that allows me to work outside the home and homeschool without having to use online classes since it's designed for independence.

Thank you so much! I believe homeschool moms deserve high-quality, professional content, and it’s my personal goal to make sure everything I create is well-researched and done right. I’m committed to this because I believe that when moms have the right tools and support, there is nothing they can't do.

Can you explain how you have your students do the “write the words” section? Example in light unit 104, lesson 5, page 13. The picture is match. They need to write the word, but would I tell the letters and have my son do it as writing practice? Use it more as spelling practice? Or use it as spelling practice and then have them pick the letters from our concept of the day? The teachers manual didn’t really advise on how to cover this part of the light unit.

We are using CLE LA 1 this year. Very solid so far. The teacher manuals for both math and language arts drive me a little nuts because the instructions often do not line up with the image of the student page and I have to flip back and forth to find my spot and see what we're doing.

I'm glad to hear you're finding CLE Language Arts 1 solid! I totally get your frustration with the teacher manuals. It can be a bit of a hassle when the instructions don't line up with the student pages. I’ve had similar experiences, and it definitely slows things down. But I do find that the quality of the material makes it worth the extra effort. I'm just thankful I don't have to do much prep work.

It needs a reading curriculum along with it to be a complete ELA.

CLE Reading really compliments the LA however, you can use the LA on it's own but like Wendy said, you would need to find something else for Reading to make it complete. LA 1 is introduced halfway through the LTR and Reading 1 at the end of LTR if I remember correctly.

Do you think we can use CLE L&A alongside AAR? We just finished CLE kindergaten which we loved but when it comes to phonics instructions I do prefer using AAR 😉. I am thinking of continuing to use CLE L&A 1 with AAR but not sure it will work 🤔
