    I am right now the same age as George when he died, 58. I have always loved the Beatles as many people of my generations and others have, yet as I have aged I find myself more and more drawn to George’s music, his steadfastness, and view of how we should live as mindful caretakers of humanity. He has, in some cosmic way, become my hippy guru. Thank you George.

      I’m two years behind you and share your sentiment. Somehow I’ve found myself on a similar spiritual quest as his and now seem to relate to his music and person on an entirely different level than earlier.
      Famous or not, I think we’re all here to to discover who the hell we really are. Thanks for sharing your comment.

    My favourite song of Georges! Was all things must pass! I allways told myself that, whenever there was sadness , or darkness in my life. I Told this to my children this also. Last year, my daughter posted a tribute to me on Facebook! And she mentioned that everytime she had a problem in her life! She would think of that simple but powerfull phrase. And said my father was correct, they did pass. I was never more proud of my daughter! Than that moument.The truth and honesty of George's music will live forever. Love and peace and happiness my friend George.

    I was around 7yrs old when the Beatles hit America. Watched em on the Ed Sullivan show and he became my favorite Beatle. An Uncle was teaching me flat pickin bluegrass guitar so I kind of naturally gravitated to George. I was so happy for him when he became the first ex Beatle with number 1 hit songs. When "All Things Must Pass" was released a buddy that worked in a music store got my copy because the music stores had trouble keeping it in stock.

      Hello I appreciate your recognition of Badfinger. They were an amazing band and totally underrated. I saw them touring for Straight Up in the US and they were amazing. They opened for The Grass Roots and somehow wound up being the headliner when the opener had to leave town early. The majority of their fans left early because of this and the Badfinger fans were able to get really close to the stage so we’re able to hear and see them up close. The concert was in Wilmington N.C really early 70’s.

    As I aged, matured, and got some wisdom, very few music bands would work for me and the ones that I did I reserved my time for. For some reason (I'm just turned 50) I just never gave The Beatles a chance. I chalked it off as like a teen sensation, happy radio music that was not complex, or thick with meaning.
    I always was blown away by The Beach Boys after they really got me in with Pet Stounds. I thought it was an album that was the top tier in every category. I seen here and there that The Beatles got into a creative stage and I think it was time to give them a shot. I have Revolver on my daily list for years. Then George's solo stuff is just so warming and wonderful. What a great accomplished artist. We lost a great man.

John had it rough also n should've been empathetic n given George a break knowing he had great talent ; it was hard for me to accept their stuffy flaky heads n I missed so much of George growing up n then he got sick N moved on to hopefully a much better place that he knew existed ! Totally false - John and Paul and Ringo actually rehearsed All Things Must Pass over 60 times and they have on the recording John and Paul encouraging George. The song was slated for Let it Be and George himself pulled it - this will probably come out more clearly when Peter Jackson puts out the new Let it Be movie.

    • @ivanjulian2532
      @ivanjulian2532 3 роки тому

      Let It Be (as an album) in my view was never a strong enough effort to deserve being released. There's a reason it was put on ice and mostly forgotten for almost 18 months. Perhaps it could have been released as a six track EP like Magical Mystery Tour, but there were far too many weak tracks in the context of a normal high quality Beatles effort. However, if George had somehow managed to get 3 or 4 of his best ATMP tracks on to Let it Be, wow, what a magnificent album it would have been. For example, imagine Paul and Jogn doing the backing harmonies on My Sweet Lord!

      It’s strange how all four of them lost the magic by about 1975. The Beatles legacy lasted that long but album by album they reverted towards the averages. They truly needed each other for creative inspiration. Even George…ATMP is songs composed during the Beatles. Even though the others did not directly contribute to the songs, they did by example and by competition raising the bar for acceptable quality.

    You are not seeing this in context. Godspell and Jesus Christ Superstar had just broken on the cultural scene at that exact time. It is NOT true that George was completely on a limb recording a spiritual song. The big hit of 1970 was "Spirit in the Sky." It is very very off to say that George was alone -- the early 70s was a time where spirituality was in the culture - people were joining cults, there were Jews for Jesus, there was Godspell and Jesus Christ Superstar -- huge influences at that time as well. George was not alone.
