You are not alone guys it was my experience as well. My hubby and I waited 6years by choice before we had our first child. This is BIZARRE in African (Nigerian) culture 😂😂😂. Even though when people asked we told them we were not ready etc. they did not believe us! The amount of calls and praise God for “breakthrough” we got made me realize people assumed and refused to believe we would wait by choice.
I must say I understand better now because the number of couples going through fertility challenges is on the rise from people in their 20s to late 30s the rates are high! Many reached out to ask what finally worked for me and it made me understand where some of the assumptions come from.
To be honest I became a bit nervous cause I was like what if when we are ready it becomes a challenge and i was approaching my mid 30s so I like okay oh I surrender oh.
Motherhood and parenthood changes your relationship forever and it is hard especially in the diaspora so do what is best for you cause you don’t owe anyone explanation 💯

I love your comment. My husband and I also decided to wait because we felt we were not financially ready. Unfortunately 2 years later when we finally started trying the baby wasn’t coming and the doctor said we had to go through ivf. Thanks to God after one year of saving money to afford ivf. I got pregnant with my first baby. I do regret waiting because you never know what the future holds but I respect each couple decisions just like my family respected our decisions to wait until we were more financially stable.
