firstly individually skilled and together the way they play is amazing.. how many times would they have practiced to get it in sync... beautiful to see them and hear them play...
This is fantastic. This two-piano version reminds me of the brilliant playing by Marian McPartland and George Shearing on their album, "Alone Together."
Stairmaster is probably going off of what it says on the post about this video on tumblr, which states that "there's stride piano, which involves no sheet music and is fully improvised along a basic melody and chord progression" so they believe this to be completely improv.
I'm what universe would it make sense to dislike this video?...I'm just saying...either you're jealous or you accidentally hit the dislike button and meant to hit the like button LOL!! That's is AWESOME!!!
Just cause there's no sheet music doesn't mean it's improv. They could have memorised it, but I bet there's plenty of tweaking in there, it's impossible not to have some fun with the piece while you're playing :) But it does say it was an arrangement of a "Clarence Williams' I Found A New Baby [composed by Jack Palmer and Spencer Williams (1926)".
+Keith Otis Edwards I know. I realized after reading the description it could be their own rendition. I wish it did have sheet music though. This would be great to learn.
Even with all the sheet music and music showing the fingerings above the notes, I just lack the technique to play at this level. But I don't feel bad about that, because there aren't many who can play like this.
WOW! How much of this is improvised? I know slide is usually at least partially improv, but I would think that would be damn near impossible for something like this. SO COOL!
but it says they're playing arrangement of "Clarence Williams' I Found A New Baby [composed by Jack Palmer and Spencer Williams (1926)" what does that mean...?
Adam and Stephanie - a thing I have noticed on virtually all stride and ragtime two-piano arrangements is that the bass is muddy - basically there is too much going on in the bass. I would structure these things more like a piano duet, with one player sticking to the higher frequencies.
Why doesn't this have more views?!?! This stride piano duet is amazing!! The skill and natural talent displayed here is ridiculous!!
How is this even possible!!!!!
Am I the only teenager here that would totally go to a ragtime concert?? This is great music!!!!
tHIS IS SUCH A GREAT NUMBER ,&THEY PLAY PERFECT TOGETHER .
I was bouncing up-and-down in my desk chair so much because of this, that one of the caster wheels fell off.
Thanks tumble for making me come here.
Perfection personified. 😊

LOVE IT TO DEATH!! Braaaaaaaavo
they must have played 200,000 notes combined :) that's a deep musical analysis right there.
stride piano is to improvise around a melody, they got a base but it's still improvised

This is on Reddit now👌
Ahh 3:06 lovely melody!!
Where did they get the sheet music? I'd love to buy it and learn!
+PawnWriter I don't see *any* sheet music in the video !

It's a direct copy of the Dick Hyman/Ralph Sutton version, which may be a copy of someone else.
but it says they're playing arrangement of "Clarence Williams' I Found A New Baby [composed by Jack Palmer and Spencer Williams (1926)"
what does that mean...?

Tumblr brought me here...
Regardless, calling the original commenter an airhead was unnesecary.
thumbs up if gassy brought you here
No. Stride piano has more emphasis on improvisation due to the nature of the style, but they're playing a piece and it's not improvised at all.
I can barely play fucking Chopsticks.
brilliant. totally brilliant. a roomful of pensioners. is that all that real music can get nowadays? I think so. that's sad. but the music isn't. :)
What.
no need to show off!
wtf
