I like this. It may not look or be as luxurious as a Lexus GS450h or an Infiniti M35 Hybrid but in terms of performance, technology and economy, the Acura is top notch.

People are missing the point of this car........the hybrid AWD system is amazing. The looks are kind of odd, but they have a nice presence in person. But they still look like a late 00’s car. The old 05-12 RL looks much better, and is aging well with its graceful, simple but flowing looks.

Great direction for Acura. Powerful luxurious fun to drive hybrids. Must weigh a ton though. I would love to see an ILX Type-S. drooooooool

not impressive for the price of the car. V6 accord does it in 5.8 and costs 30k less.

oldtwins na not impressive for the price of the car? 0.8sec is a huge margin when going from 5.8 down to 5sec for a car considerably heavier then the accord? What would satisfy you, a sportscar like 4sec 0-60 for this big luxury sedan, what about cars that cost 200k more then the accord should they do it in 1sec or less what is the desired increase per dollar?, there is more to a cars performance then 0-60 number and do you really think that is the top thing on the minds of people buying such a car? I think 5sec is an awesome time for a big luxury sedan and know I would never need it to be faster then that!

***** the accord weighs 3200 and the rlx 3900. Same displacement other than more compression and DI with the rlx. If the rlx was 3200 0-60 would probably be in the 4 seconds range.

It's about time Acura put some new tech into their cars. It looks like the NEW NSX tech is making its way down the line or is Acura making sure it works in the real world before debuting it on the NSX.

As much as I like the rlx I feel like Acura can do better. The styling is nice but not eye catchy. 380 hp sport hybrid is strong but you sacrifice trunk space. They need a v8 yes I said it a v8 or at least a twin turbo v6 with 400 plus hp and redesign the whole car like they did when the Honda civic was going stale and they redesign it the following year. I have a 2004 aspec Acura tl and until Acura can go over the edge with their design and powertrain I'm sticking to my tl.

"the powertrain is so fantastic, but too bad it looks like an accord"
LOL! besides if there is such a resemblance is not a bad one, you obviously never seen these two side by side.

Hyundai beat them to a solid RWD platform with the V8` Blew past Acura ` the design is not new just refresh from the old RL,

RWD/V8 is an old way of thinking. There are better ways to to deliver on power and handling demands without sacrificing fuel economy.

    if lexus had this drivetrain...

I love Acuras, but I don't think this car is going to help pull itself out of the sales doldrums. Acura would have been much better off designing a RWD car with both a six cylinder and eight cylinder powerplants.

you r still thinking like a caveman , yeah Acura needs a v8 and rwd , you forgot to add an 8 track and beeper.370 hp and over 30 mpg ,0 to 60 in 5 s, yeah we need a V8

    • @TheItsmegp46

lloyd Y bennett Sorry, but your assessment is all wet. Potential customers wiling to part with $60,000 large don't want a front wheel drive car, even if one model can be had with all wheel drive. They also want the option of a V8, not an overly complex hybrid system. Not to mention, the RLX just does not have the ride or handling of a true luxury car from most publications I've read. But don't take my word for it, its miserable sales numbers speak for themselves.

+itsmegp46 Unfortunately, most people who buy cars like this don't know what a V8 is or which set of wheels puts the power to the road. The biggest thing that matters is the badge, the snob appeal... of which Acura has very little. That's the sole reason this car isn't more successful - the same reason Cadillac sales are a pittance compared to BMW and Mercedes.
Personally, I think the RLX Hybrid drivetrain is a lot more interesting than a V8 would be.

Too complicated, and Acura has dropped in reliability substantially. Skip this one. It will fall apart.

So far, the +14 RLX with or without hybrid powertrain has been extremely reliable. Same for the 17-20 MDX hybrid with the very similar powertrain. Just routine maintenance and fluid/filter changes for +100,000 miles.

Its still to plain and boring for a $60,000 plus car.

I was actually looking at the Acura RLX Sport hybrid on the Canadian Acura website, and quite honestly at $72,159.75 being the total payment, that is kind of steep for an Acura regardless of any features. I personally would not spend that much on this car especially when I can consider other vehicles within that price range such as the Audi S6 or A7 or even vehicles from Mercedes. The 2015 Acura RLX Sport Hybrid has AWD compared to the base model, but then again, I wouldn't pick this vehicle as my next car especially with that high price. For me Acura is more of an entry level class of vehicles that are overly priced and poorly designed. With all the other vehicles out there at that price range, Acura TLX SH AWD would be at the bottom of my purchase list.
