I used to have a trainer who would tell me "all or something". Some days you will be able to do what you planned. Some days you won't. Some days you'll be able to do more than you planned. All of that is okay. One lap of walking around the living room is better than nothing at all.
Thank you Deli for this and all your videos! You are amazing and beautiful inside and out! 💚

I like what your trainer said! I’m out doing field work 84 hrs a week and I say to myself it’s fine that my workout is only 20 min because it made me get up and move my body in ways it has not during work shift

I love the list of why's!
I've put on weight in the last years and I still have that voice in my head from growing up in the 90s-00s that you have to be REALLY skinny to be pretty.
So I kept feeling a bit self-conscious about my weight gain, even though I was a normal weight. When I told my husband I wanted to lose weight he asked "Why? You don't think beauty is tied to weight in other people. So why do you think that about yourself?"
    It blew my mind!!!
So I started thinking about what I wanted to achieve - I want to be able to climb stairs without feeling puffed out. I want to be able to carry the bulk cat food.
Doing strength stuff with pilates has helped with that and I also dont feel awful after it. I feel tired but content. It's also really helped with stress.
Also, I work in a high demand brain job and giving up in what's "good" to read and just reading fun stuff (via audiobook) like YA has helped so much.

That’s awsome! Your partner is smart, I love that. It is really helpful to be able to carry stuff like big cat food and go up stairs easily, just practically speaking it’s good to aim for. I appreciate being able to carry shopping or I could help others if need be too. So that is a motivator in itself!

I really needed to hear some of the things you said in this video... I've been fighting myself trying to get healthier for about 4ish years now (including shucking money I really didn't have over on a "personal trainer" who was absolutely useless). It's always so nice to hear someone who feels like a genuine human being talk frankly about health and wellness -- something that is too often obscenely commodified in our society!

Thank you! I’ve also struggled with anxiety and depression and resisted therapy because I was afraid of being judged (like your first experience) and trying to learn to take better care of myself has not been easy. This video was very helpful and motivating. Thank you, and yes, definitely do more. I had bad health, pain and mental health issues my whole life and had seen almost every kind of doctor possible over 3 decades and nobody could figure any of it out. Last year I went through a bad sudden break up and woke up to hair just falling out. Spent the last year realizing all my issues were connected and a few months ago discovered by accident it was all caused by a gluten intolerance which brings other intolerances like lactose like you or straight dairy like me and also soy.... I'm still figuring them out. I had severe anxiety and depression issues my whole life. I quit gluten to fix health issues and accidently fixed my mental health and aches and pains as well. I used to have such bad anxiety I had to leave stores and stand outside to keep from passing out and now my anxiety is just gone Deli. And every time I talk about it with my kids it makes me think of you because all your issues remind me of myself....on a much smaller scale thankfully for you 😆

for me the biggest thing was to set an actual goal to work towards, like "do 10 push ups" and I found that really helpful not to set a body weight goal. also not restricting myself to one type of workout was the game changer and trying lots of different activities to find the ones that I like and then doing them because I like to. now I am swimming, lifting weights, cycling, running and rock climbing, and honestly, it's the best thing!

My trainer always tells me "A little goes a long way." So even if I have a horrible day, if I feel bad, I just do some stretches or maybe a 5 minute workout. And it does help. That has become my way of not giving up, because I know if I miss one day, if I don't do anything, I will feel like crap and I will stop. So instead I just find what works for my body and my mind at that specific moment.

I'm currently watching the whole playlist and just want to thank you for this (and other) motivating videos. I myself am nowhere near being overweight but it's easy to tell that I don't move a lot. I'm basically all bones and jelly. 😅 And although I want to change for quite a while now it is not easy for me to actually do something about it.
But this video really gives me a push, because appreciating that at least I've done a little bit (because it's better than nothing) has never crossed my mind, to be honest. So, thanks a lot for sharing this only seemingly(!) banal truth, because it helps me a lot. Oh, and I'll start doing to-do lists now too. 😁👍
Generally watching your vlog really lifts my mood and motivates me to do more, not only training, but just doing *something*. So, thank you for that as well. ❤

I've started my weight loss journey again in May 22 and I've found a couple of good reasons why I want to lose weight. And I've found two colleagues who also want to lose weight, so we started a diet together and now I've got people to talk to and to keep me motivated to push through. And also to remind me that weight loss is a slow process if it's supposed to be sustainable. I've lost 6kg since May and I'm proud of myself. This means I'll be able to go horseback riding for my next vacation :)

I think one great thing for motivation (in the moment, when you’re laying in bed saying I don’t want to get up and workout) is really learning how your body responds to it. I may not want to go to the gym because I have a headache - but I know all the yummy chemicals you get from working out will usually relieve the headache. And if it doesn’t, it’s okay, I tried.
Same with mental health wise. I may just be having a bad MH day but I know working out gives you endorphins. So sometimes I view working out the same way I would with taking traditional medicine. Reaching for a dumbbell instead of some ibuprofen and seeing if that helps.
(Disclaimer: there are obviously certain conditions that DO need medication. I still take antidepressants and anti anxiety meds, and sometimes the pains aren’t something I can make go away by moving - a sprain or a twist, for example. But that’s where listening to your body and understanding comes in.)

I was really kind of nervous to watch this video seeing the title because I recently was trying to navigate my own health and wellness journey and I fell off of the whole routine about three months ago. It’s especially hard when you feel like you’re not seeing any results from working so hard and ever since then I’ve been eating more bad again and I feel worse mentally and physically because I’m the back of my mind I know I want to get back into being more healthy but my motivation just isn’t there. But turns out this video was actually super helpful when you said you don’t focus on numbers at all, listing your reasons why, and your journey navigating your anxiety through the process. It’s also just super relatable when it comes to anxiety and motivation and makes me feel less alone in this process and lifestyle. So thank you for sharing and being a positive light when it comes to health and wellness. I think I will try to list my why reasons tonight to get myself more motivated again.♥️

I had signed up for a gym that only had classes by personal trainers, it was extremely expensive and unfortunately did not work for me. I had much more luck doing it on my own, changing my mind set to be focused on my own health rather than doing it for my appearance made it much easier. Very happy to say i have lost 90lbs on my own and ive been able to keep it off :) all i did was change my diet and go for a walk daily and within 5 months, i lost 90lbs

But I used to workout for longer which benefited me to be at my smallest since I was a kid but I ended up gaining the weight back. The way I do it now is so much better. My gut health is currently terrible, I had a miscarriage about 8 months ago and my tummy just hasn’t recoverd since then. I’ve tired my best to improve since the start of the pregnancy and discovered some underlying issues, like high blood pressure and heart issues. It’s been a damn struggle to be honest. When you’re so damn excited and literally in a heartbeat your life changes.
You making videos has helped me and I’ve started working out again. But damn... can we remove those questions of “when you going to have kids” when other people don’t know and need to know those struggles.. our baby would have been born on the 28th September.
I’m rambling now, but you are such an inspiration and I love the videos.

I have to say even before this video you inspired me to start being healthier. Last few weeks I’ve been cooking more instead of eating random junk in my house. I’ve been trying to walk/work out a little at least a few times a week. Luckily I move around a lot in my job but it’s not been enough in the past. So I’m really trying to get into a good habit. I already overall feel better.
Five years ago a developed chronic pain due to an inflamed nerve in between two of my ribs. At the same time my immune system crashed a bit and I was getting sick constantly. Last few years I’ve just really been miserable with myself and it’s caused a lot of issues with my anxiety and my social life. Finally found this year I got a few injections in my nerves to calm them down and it helped a lot. It’s not gone but I can actually do things like walk around the block without horrible pain. It’s been amazing to me watching your healthy journey and inspired me so much. Thank you for everything deli ❤️

I know this was posted 2 weeks ago but I just had the time to watch it and I need to say this.
When you started 8 months ago, I was in my second trimester with my second pregnancy. I felt horrible all through the first trimester and gained over 10 kilos. When you started to post your journey, I decided to be more motivated like you and found a channel on youtube about pregnancy and postpartum workout. After my delivery I had to stop working out but then I went back to full time working out last month.
You and this other youtube channel have been so encouraging. I have not developped post partum depression like I did with my first and that is because I workout and take care of myself.
No I am not as fit as I was before having kids, but I am definitly stronger.

This is such a lovely video, Deli! I love your honesty and positivity. I started my wellness journey this year (again) and after my first workout I sat on my new yoga mat and just cried. I felt so discouraged and upset with how weak my body was and how I only had myself to blame for it. I cried it all out and the next day, tried again. I've been going since the spring now and the improvements have come, step by step. You talk about it often but delayed gratification is a huge aspect of it. Its not an overnight success. It took me a month to move from 3lb dumbells to 5lbs and another two months to reach 8lbs. Now I'm working towards 10lbs and it's rewarding to feel myself getting stronger, even if it didn't quickly.
You sharing your journey on IG was a huge motivation for me. I really appreciated that you were real enough to show the failures and the growth. It really encourages me. I love this vlog channel so much, I'm so happy you gave it a go. It really is like sitting down and chatting with a friend! Proud of you for all your hard work, both physically and mentally. 💚

This could not have come at a better time. I just saw a physiotherapist today who has given me a simple exercise program to start at home. So I went out and got an exercise mat and some resistance bands. I really struggle with the motivation, because on top of having anxiety and intense depression, I also have arthritis in a lot of my joints, including major joints like ankles, hips, knees. (Hence the physiotherapist). I just finished sessions of hydrotherapy, which was great. Unfortunately, my free use of the hospital pool has ended and I now need to pay to use a public pool.

I love when u do videos like this! I like your honesty & openness. I started a health journey when I became a diabetic. I wasn't fond of the medication options that were presented to me. Plus, with my aging parents, all the care my husband's elderly father needs & a husband who has anexity. I knew I needed to be healthy for my family, they depend on me. I have been able to control my diabetes with diet alone. It has really been a journey. I didn't start out like oh I have to be skinny or a certain size. I just wanted to be healthier. I tell my self progress not protection. Which helps because I can sometimes be a protectionist. Just so happens through this process so far I have lost 20 pounds. I love when your open about your anexity. I love to hear other people's propestives on it & maybe learn something that might help my husband. His anexity is so much more managed now through medication & he had some therapy. Three years ago though it was rough. I had personally never experienced anything like that before so I had to educate myself on it for my husband's sake. I really like this channel of yours, your Sims channel & James's. BTW cute plumbob mug, very fitting ☺️

Thank you so much for doing this Deli. I’ve always been inspired by your health journey, especially during hard times like the pandemic. I used to be really into fitness but once I couldn’t go to the gym anymore I struggled. You inspire me to get back to eating healthier. Thank you. ❤️❤️❤️

Younger me would have loved to have grown up watching someone like you. I've always struggled with mental and physical health and had it embedded into me that being plus-size = unhealthy and to be honest, unattractive. Even when trying to search for people who had a more holistic approach, it was always "do this, eat this, restrict, restrict, restrict". Which, as I'm sure you and many of those who watch you know, it SO not good. I've been actively following your journey since the beginning and your openness and honesty to your audience is what we need more of in this world. I used to have an all-or-nothing mindset. Meaning, if I couldn't follow a work-out program exactly the way the instructor was doing it - I'd get SO ANGRY at myself. The fact that you mentioned "do everything at your own pace." is HUGE. And really needs to be the mindset going forward.

Plus size is definitely not unhealthy or unattractive. I actually often see plus size models on website while shopping and think they look better in the clothes that the other models. I’ve learnt you don’t need to restrict, that just makes you sad, yiu just enjoy an ambudence of good foods!

I have watched your main channel for a long time but also I find watching videos about normal everyday life in Australia on this channel equally as enjoyable. My partner and I are going through the process of finding our first home in Sydney and then renovating so it’s like having a friend along the way.

I delayed watching the video because I worried it would be triggering as my own health and fitness journey has been a rollercoaster. However, your honesty over your challenges and emphasis on self-kindness was very inspiring. I feel a lot better, and I’ll keep in mind that whole part of a workout is better than none on rough days. Thank you

I am watching your progress because I am in a similar situation with depression and isolation. I am also a gamer who married a man who only wishes to game and we moved to another country, where I know nobody else. His parents speak a different language which multiplies the loneliness. I ask for help from my hubby but he is not a professional and doesn't really put in an effort to even try and help anymore.... SO just FYI~ you are being a positive influence on AT LEAST ONE other person who needs it =) Obrigada!!!

Motivation really is the key and it's the hardest thing to teach or describe to other people. A decade ago (gosh), I used Wii Fit every day because the little animated character would be SO DISAPPOINTED if I failed to show up! I use the Peloton app now because it's free through my health insurance and has all kinds of different workouts. The best part is the multi-week programs because they keep me on a schedule I don't even have to think about. I agree with you upper body is so hard. I've been at it for a year and can still barely do a good pushup! But gotta keep trying 💪

I think it's good to note that there's different types of therapy and what someone needs will be dependant on their type of anxiety/depression and history. It's interesting, because we're all so very different, just how therapy can be helpful and how that help varies. For example most of us have residual emotional issues from childhood occurances or traumas or simply from our environment and the way we're raised. took me a long time to connect dots between childhood (and I didn't even have a bad childhood compared to a lot of other people who went through very unfortunate circumstances). And therapy can be so hard to go to, it can make you feel like shit or really happy because maybe you had a lightbulb moment during a session.
but it's such a SLOW PROCESS. it really takes time where you start recognising patterns of behaviour, then bit by bit you can do something at the momentnit happens, then you can start changing patterns in yourself. whether it is having reactive behaviour or recognising bad mental patterns (like self doubt etc).
anyway I'm a big advocate for therapy especially when you find the right match and click with a therapist. glad you are doing so well on your journey and advocating for mental health, physical health and approaching it all from a realistic perspective. well done!

Did not know mental health links with gut! One of the warning signs for me, that im too stressed, anxious or overwhelmed and about to fall into a spiral, is that my appetite goes! F&F spin it that I'm somehow lucky/ theyd love that 🙄 which is frustrating, because I feel like crap, physically sick and weak.
So that's super interesting! I will definately research, didnt know there is a link 🥰
Everyone has different body/health stories, but alot of the underlying feelings; the self pressure, embarrament, lack of confidence, getting frustrated etc etc is the same, so these videos are wonderful 🥰🥰🥰
And you do look like you're glowing ✨️

Thank you so much for being so open and willing to share your struggles. I truly wish this kind of platform had been around when I was a young mother and throughout life stages. (I suspect I'm in a small group of retirement age Simmers.) When I finally got the courage to seek professional counseling, I too had a bad first experience. I eventually tried again and very thankful it was very helpful. Those 'why' questions can dig deep too. Just keep asking yourself to get to the core reason for anything you want.
Thank you again for sharing because as you can see by the comments, you are helping so many. 💕

The biggest thing I struggle with when it comes to eating more healthy is absolutely the cooking aspect.
I'm disabled so I have to look for easily prepared foods/recipes and sometimes it really feels like there's not a lot out there. I'm also autistic which comes with sensory issues so I have a hard time figuring out foods and cooking methods that have friendly textures lol
I would absolutely love videos on food and cooking! I think it would be so helpful, even if I can only take one or two things from it, I need more ideas of how to get all the nutrients I need, and how to make foods more appealing 😂
Thanks for this video Deli! 💙 Also I don't really go on Instagram so idk if those little workout clips are on there but ima go peep to see if they are bc those are helpful too 👀😂

I can relate to this so much, during lockdown my anxiety got so bad, and one of the top things that seemed to help was exercise. The feeling of achieving something once you had done a work out, no matter the type, gave me a great sense of happiness. Yoga too really helped me center myself in the moment, helping with anxiety and calming down my racing thoughts, alongside helping with flexibility and strength! Love these sit down videos with you Deli, you always bring a sense of comfort and support 💕
