A good tank build. Thanks Johny. I did a test replacing soul reaping with blood magic 3-3-1. I feel immortal as well, while probably doing less damage (not tried on golem for measurement). - I do a lot of WvW where I want my scourge to be tanky and a good healer. What would you suggest tweaking for such result?
You will indeed do less damage but gain more sustain if you used Blood Magic instead of Soul Reaping. As for WvW, here is a link with the changes I'd do to be even more tanky and do some Heals / Barriers for my party: gw2skills.net/editor/?PSAU2A7hJxSYm4ZNV+6B-w
Glad you liked it! It really depends on your zerg's / commander's playstyle, but most likely you will need at least few adjustments to make it work. I plan on doing builds just for WvW in the near future

I am using a Tier 10 Jade Bot Core, and I'm also using a full set of legendary, which has the same stats as ascended. Those are probably the ones contributing the most to the difference in HP

Correct. You must own SOTO to use Pistol on Scourge. You also must own SOTO for the new weapons for all classes, like double Swords for Necro for example
Scourge can be melee or range as you prefer. YOU don't need to be in the shade radius / range, but the enemies do. So you can cast your shade on an enemy that's 900 range away, or right on top of your feet.
Correct. But that only applies to the Barrier from skill F1. The Barrier from all other Shroud skills will be applied at your position as well. For example: F3 and F5 will apply the Barrier directly to you even if the shade is far from you

For open world, yes. For group content, Fractal is better. I did mention both in the guide in case you missed it

You can use Rune of Torment 👍 It will work very well with this build
How does this compare with celestial gear?
If you will use full Celestial, you will do less damage than what you will get with this build, while your sustain will increase a little bit
I havent unlocked soto so I dont have pistol. How different this build is with scepter?
The build will be ok with Scepter instead of Pistol, but you'll do less damage overall
