For anybody struggling to land air throw in combos, there's a couple of things you might wanna try, on smaller characters like chun and cammy leave out the MP in your aerial rave and just do lp lk delay air throw, , also don't bother go for air throw on dhalsim and magneto in combos
While trying to land this, I notice that I often manage to land the air throw but miss getting it counted in the combo. Did I fuck up or do we just call it a happy little reset?
I appreciate the Scrub Busters series. Great for breaking down the "too hard" mythos a lot of these older games have. I'd like to see it become a regular thing.
Some people think you need to understand everything about a game to start playing, this was never the way. I think people who grew up playing some of the more inscrutable games of yore just got used to playing in ignorance until you figure shit out.

Just in case anyone's not convinced at how easy this is, let this short story be my testimonial:
When I was a Freshman in high school, we had open campus lunch, and the nearby restaurant had X-Men Vs. Street Fighter. I remember losing to those guys, getting mad, and then looking up Sabretooth combos on the internet. I practiced them in secret one night, and then I came back and ruled the XMvSF year after year until they closed campus lunch in my senior year. Three years of dominance, stemming from just one night of practice for a 14 year-old whose fighting game experience amounted to playing his big brother in Street Fighter 2 on the SNES. 100% certified anyone can play Sabretooth!

I'd love to see more x-men vs SF guides. I feel like everyone on MVC2 but this game is fun as well.
Back when I was still in high school and had more free time, I’d be playing these old VS. games a lot on FightCade. While I used to mainly play Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter online (at one point, I was on the Top 50 list of top players, as a Dan/Hulk team main), I also played a bit of X-Men vs. Street Fighter online, and Sabertooth was usually my go-to character along with Charlie/Nash and Akuma/Gouki. It’s super easy to pick up and do well with Sabertooth because his combos were easy and did good damage.
We are lucky they where handing out medallions and not shorts for that XvSF tournament.

I had two teams in this game when it was current:
1. The French Connection: Rogue and Gambit
2. Fuck It: Sabertooth and Juggernaut
xvsf is such a fun pick up and play game, and it's become a great post-tourney game at my local
In Sydney and most of Australia these machines where everywhere for like 20 + years. It was incredibly rare to find an MVC2 machine, they only really existed at the time it came out and then disappeared shortly after but you could walk into some random room in some random building and for those 20 years you might just find an XvSF machine.
It helped keep the dream alive for MVC2 in Sydney and Most of Aus.
Whenever you had more then a few of you boys with you, you and the crew would just take over the machine and play for an hour or so and then head out to do what you had to do that night/day.

Can confirm that as a Juggernaut player Sabretooth is being actively tagged in to just maul his big ass. Hurts that they don't let Juggs get ONE chain combo ever in this game specifically.
the best thing about this series is its a good primer for someone who's stuck playing veterans but without the commitment of just trying to learn the whole game first
Fuck yeah Obama, been enjoying the older titles myself! Played some marvel 1 and was having a blast with Spiderman, learning hyper Venom pressure, playing the sickest version of Evil Ryu (imo), and all in online ranked in the year 2024. What a time to be alive man.

I literally have ran through Marvel Super heroes with Spider-Man and learned really quickly that they are a really fun character in every game in the collection he’s in. I also enjoy some magneto.
I always dabbled with XvSF in this arcade we used to have around here. Never really got passed optic blast spam and typical launcher combos, so seeing this old school grimy tech is awesome. Thanks and keep em coming big bro Obama 🤙

Before the collection, I've been grinding arcade mode XvSF on Fightcade and by Lord Sabretooth has to be one of the easiest characters to get good with.
Great video to showcase how to do his infinites and airthrow combos, can't wait to try it once I pick up the collection!

Only thing I was going to say was...we're not going to talk about how easy j.hp-j.hk is as a jump-in chain? It's not just for doing infinites on big characters. "J.hp-J.hk" for any of the characters in this collection that have it is usually the way to both easily hit confirm and start combos with optimal damage.
This aesthetically is my favorite VS game but I've never been "good" at it. Definitely gonna pick up Sabretooth and grind some ranked. Any chance you could cover more characters for this game in the future? If so I'd appreciate it and I'm sure others would too.

This is a great pro rundown of Sabretooth. I like MVC2 but it's a cluster fuck of assists. I always liked all the OG games before it more; feel less cheesy, more technical, 6 button, and obviously less dependent on assists. If only they gave us an option in MVC2 to do solo vs and 2 character tag team.
Was in the twitch stream when you were grinding this the other day but yea, I've pre-ordered this collection on the switch since I'm still too broke steam. Hopefully I can level up enough with this series you're making.

Easy start is learning his throw infinite. Make the corner scary because of it. Also, jump HK is a god button. Crosses up, is ignorant. Use it. His air kick throw is good too

something i have been wondering about is if there is any database on the changes of this version of the game compared to the second version that more people are used to playing from the arcade and fightcade, ive never really played it before and wasn't sure about what all was changed outside of Cyclops and Storm's infinites being deleted

I used to play the awful Playstation port of this game as a kid. I'd beat arcade mode with Cyclops and think I was sick at the game. How little I knew...

Rogue j.hk can be a showstopper, for example.
MvC2 is only good for the mechanics, roster, and the competitive scene, but it's the worst game of the 2d era of the franchise in everything else. The worst music and no personal themes anymore, worst stages and with no detail, easter egg or interaction, worst sprite quality, no iconic Marvel boss, no endings, no secret chars, no super move name highlight (or chaining super names) at k.o, and it goes on a bit further. So it's important to check all other games.
