- Sorry about the quality, this is my 1st attempt. This shows all of the mods that I've incorporated into my Ozark Trail Pro Angler. A LOT of these mods come straight from UA-cam contributors. I saved all of the best mods I could find and loaded them onto my kayak. Watch my 1st fishing video just posted...... • Trout Fishing - Ozark ... ALSO.....Here's a video on my Motor Mount, which may help someone. • Motor Mount - Ozark Tr...
I thank you and have to tell you that everything is really perfect. I am thrilled and have to tell you that you have golden hands as a craftsman. I write from Germany and learned English at school. I hope everything is right so far grammatically. I wish you a lot of fun and success and a lot of big fish. A kind greeting from Dortmund to Rafael😊.
THANK YOU Rafael !!! Your English is perfect.....enjoy your favorite past times also.
If there was ever a pimp my kayak , this would be an awesome episode, all those add ons are almost, if not as much as the boat, you got yourself a thousand dollar boat for half the price
Thanks Matt.....No room for the kitchen sink though.
Love the ingenuity but mercy that’s a lot of gear, you have blown my mind! I have the same one and it’s a great boat for the money!
Kudos to you my guy that is a bad kayak you have literally everything and some that$2,000 kayaks I would pick this 1 over any other kayak That's $3,000 of the door with not even that there to the modifications you got Good build smart build and tight line
Thanks Wippin Bass !! It was fun to think it through & then make it happen.
It's better than a Hobie. I got one. So easy to modify for the perfect fishing or just a day on the water. Cost doesn't always mean better..
Right on
I really enjoyed seeing this set up! The trolling motor and steering set up is key. WELL DONE 👏
Thanks Eric. You're right, control in a yak is critical. Placement and ease of operation give you time to fish.
lol it needs the bilge pump , and i have nothing on mine and it fills up with water , seat to far back , guess i can put my 24v bow mount TM to balance out the weight. major mod is make a tie in bracket like the front of the seat. in the heat that seat will come out of rear bracket. easy fix with threaded rod and a stainless plates on the insides. is it 500 lb cap?? if you add front weight .
My 60 lb. battery is toward the front to help offset my weight. Everything on the yak adds up to 335 lbs. Well within the 500 lb. capacity.
Sorry about the weight thing no disrespect. Just pointing out the load ratio for new buyers.
No disrespect taken T G. It was a great point you made. I tossed in my actual weights to help others, better understand what these kayaks can handle. Cheers Brother!!
Hello thank you for this Clip. Witch Outdriggers you have on your Kayak. I am from Germany , greethings Rafael😊
Rafael....the outriggers are made with PVC pipe and 4 crab pot buoys, two buoys on each side. They also have a foldable joint on each side, but you can't find those anymore.
Awesome!
Could you do a detailed video on the outrigger setup I have the same yak and I like your idea best and wasnt sure of materials things like that
You did an awsome job. You'd never know that was a $500 kayak. I bought my hoodoo 120p, Hybird. They offer a 46lb thrust fitted, trolling motor. Did pay $800, but came with deck mat, framed seat, anchor trolleys, paddle, foot or hand drop down rudder, scupper plugs. I looked at other $1000 dollar kayaks that came with the boat and seat. You've got a Sweet little vessel..🙏🤟🎣
Thanks Anthony....it was fun to go through You Tube and find things that others did, then modify those favorites and scrounge for parts and pieces and put it all together.
I have the same yak! But mine was branded Sun dolphin. I'd love to see a walk through on how you built your outriggers.
TheDadFish....I'll see what I can piece together for you. It might take a week or so. I need some "sunshine" so I can get the kayak out and shoot some video for you. One done I'll reply again to this post and give you the link. Thanks for the interest!!
Yes please do cuz I'd like to build a set for mine
Yes a video would be awesome!!
Best diy kayak I've seen ! Great ideas thanks 👍
It's a great baseline kayak to build from. With the additions, it's a pleasure to fish and very comfortable. Thanks for your interest.
I have the same kayak. That is a very busy deck lots of equipment. But it looks well done and like a lot of thought went into it. Well done sir. Who says you can't make a cheap kayak into a tournament champion. Be safe out there and happy fishing.
I appreciate your comments and if you do homestead, as your label suggests, I'll take all of it as a compliment. It would be, coming from a homesteader. They are professionals at making something out of nothing. May life be good to you & your's.
@@ricksoutdooradventures5250 and to you sir be safe out there
Nice set up...I have the same kayak...I use mine for catfishing. For the price you can't beat it!
Sweet Modifications.
Thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching Alex !!
Love the boat man. Some of us can’t afford a hobie or just don’t wanna spend 3 grand on a freaking kayak!! I have this boat in 10 ft and it’s amazing. Looking for this one right this moment. Man you got that thing rigged and it still probably didn’t cost $600!! I love it man. I share the video with my kayak friend who’s doing the same upgrades... Keep doing what you’re doing stay safe and god bless
Thanks Countryboy.....It's great to get feedback on what I did to this thing. She's a comfortable ride on the lakes around here and she'll fish all day long.
Hope ya find one and have fun adding your personal touches to it. Tight Lines !!
holy crap you have that thing decked out! looks good and nice vid. thanks for the upload.
Thanks Zip Zip. Much appreciated.
Super impressed. Gotta see this out on the water.
Richard....two more days. They lift the ban on fishing Wed. the 5th and I'll be on the water Thurs. the 6th, with 3 cameras running. I'll post another video early next week. Thanks for viewing!! Rick
How much did all that cost
Shawn....ouch!! It was awhile ago. $40 for the stand-up bar / $25 for the bilge pump / $65 for the fish finder / $25 for the misc. lights / $30 for the cooler / $75 for The Anchor Wizard & maybe another $50 for all the misc. hardware. So somewhere in the $300 range. So $500 + $300 = $800 / Cheaper than anything else out there. Bear in mind a LOT was made by me using scrap I had lying around / motor mount, stand-up bar, fold-down table, battery box, wiring, etc. etc..
I just bought this one. I want to add motor but kind of stuck about motor mount . I have a 12.5 Patriot Angler with motor but wanted something different. Any pointers?
Sorry EJ....didn't see this until now. Send me an eMail, I'll send ya pics of mine and maybe a template.

Sent my email info.
What you think of it? Looking at getting one for lake fishing.
Rick's Outdoors & Hobbies hey Man! I have the same exact kayak as you. I’m gonna put a motor on. If you can send me some sort of template and more picture id appreciate it! I’ll email you right now!
Just curious of how you ran all the wires for your boat lights, the main power and your stern lights.
Jeffhill74....I first wired the motor. The wires run to a 4-prong plug on the right sidewall behind the seat. Then they go straight to the control head under the seat. The Pos. & Neg. for the Control Head run to the front edge of the front hatch, with alligator clips on them to attach to the battery. All other wiring (Stern/Deck/Fish Finder/Nav. and Spotight) runs to a control box on my table (separate switches for each) and then to a common Pos. & Neg. cable straight to the battery with ring terminals on the ends. Let's just say....I really had to think it through and take my time. But.....I can turn everything on or off from the Control Box on my table. Except the motor, it's hard wired straight to the battery.
Nice setup!
Very nice!! I'm in the process of building a similar set up, is it possible to install a rear trolling motor mount without adding the round hatch? Any chance I could get your template?
David...It might be possible, if you remove the rear handle and use the existing handle screw positions to attach your mount. But that seemed a little "weak" for what I wanted. Here is my thought & build process on my Motor Mount...... ua-cam.com/video/sXwr2W46z0M/v-deo.html
Nice setup
Thanks EJ. Still working on it....LOL!!!
can youput a link to that hitch in the beginning you use to drive w/ the kayak
Lord Taurus....Here's a You Tube video on it..... ua-cam.com/video/ix0mkt3F7oU/v-deo.html

Nice job
Damn that's nice
Thanks Adrian.
what rod holders did you install?
They are.....Brocraft Power Lock rod holders. $16.99 ea. on Amazon. Pretty cheap but very well built.
The thought process behind this is awesome
Thanks Tuan. Most of it is whipped together with scraps and junk I had laying around or built.
How much did all this stuff weigh? Nice looking but will teh weight be a issue?
Brian...I weigh 225, and the capacity is 500lbs. 500-225 = 275. All the gear I've added comes to 135lbs.
that leaves 140lbs. of capacity left over. The rule of thumb (safety) for a kayak is....do not exceed 75% of the kayak's capacity. So in my case, with me and the gear added, I'm at 360 lbs. 375 lbs. is 75% of the 500lb. capacity.
so....I'm at the Max. Safe window on my kayak. 375 lb. Max. vs. 360 lb. w/ me & gear. Hope this helps.
Here's a great little video that talks about weight limits. I wouldn't try this...unless you need a bath!
Scroll down a little bit....... pumpupboats.com/kayak-weight-limit/
"this is for my eggs"...........? Gotta ask, what the heck?
two23rem (great name by the way),
Whether it's Rainbow, Kokanee or Cutthroat....besides the dodgers, or pop-gear there always a small hoochie involved on the business end. And those hooks are either capped with power bait, or salmon eggs, or both when trolling. Hence the bait jars and a place to put them, so they don't slide around.
@@ricksoutdooradventures5250 Gotcha......I was thinking soft or hard boiled.
@@two23rem LOL....now that ya mention it.....hard boiled might work!!!
I love your ideas, but man you have no room to fish. Hope you don't gain too much weight boat rated at 500 lbs.
T G.....I weigh 200, and the capacity is 500lbs. 500-200 = 300. All the gear I've added comes to 135lbs.
That leaves 165lbs. of unused capacity. The rule of thumb (safety) for a kayak is....do not exceed 75% of the kayak's capacity. So in my case, with me and the gear added, I'm at 335 lbs. 375 lbs. is 75% of the 500lb. capacity. SO....I'm within the Max. Safe window on this kayak. 375 lb. Max. vs. 335 lb. w/ me & gear. Hope this helps. I include ALL gear, battery, wire, motor, cooler (loaded), stand-up bar, oar, rod holders, outriggers....everything. It ain't built for open water, but it'll handle boat wakes on the area's fresh water lakes.
