No sooner do I finish this video on the Nreal Air, they put out a MAJOR update with a totally overhauled AR interface. Unlisted video tour here ua-cam.com/video/cJAvKJ2hri0/v-deo.html
A quick question: How does the extension of multiple virtual screens work with windows laptops? How many screens are allowed? Is the transmission lagging? Would be nice if you also could make a detailed video of it, since many people are looking for this device to increase multitasking efficiency:) thanks for this great video!
Using the phone as a controller is a really cool idea for portability if AR is going to become more of an everyday thing. Not as ergonomic as a real controller, but makes it really easy to just bring the glasses anywhere without having to carry around peripherals. Can also double as a keyboard.
Thing is, this new version of the glasses doesn't have the 3d work space like the light version had. They added alot of things and decided to remove the most important version of AR
Thank you for answering a question I had about these glasses. I like the fact that they use both eyes instead of just one eye. Because what happens if you are vision impaired in one eye and I also love that you can add perspiration lenses for those of us that wear glasses or contact lenses. The newest generations of AR/VR/MR glasses don't make you look like a freak.
Hi, I've been curious about something for awhile about why companies don't make the OLED or whatever screen they are using the glasses part instead of adding another lens behind it or why no just blend the OLED and the lens part togeth to make it one piece? Is there a cost reason or a technology reason behind it?
Great review 🙌🏾❤️ I have a pair but have not used them yet. I wear prescription glasses, so I’m just waiting for my prescriptions to be ready. And yes I’m using the prescription lenses that the Nreal come with. This technology is some Back To The Future 2 type stuff 😮 Can’t wait to use them 🙌🏾
Wow it's the price of a decent desktop monitor. I mean that in a good way. Very impressive mobile solution or even just for ergonomics compared to a laptop. Nice.
From Google Glass, to Focals by North, to NREAL. This thing is a banger. It wows me. That usability for work related purposes is a real differentiator that I really can appreciate.
Just ordered mine a few minutes ago. This has been on my radar for a minute and someone at my job actually had the NREAL Light's. The experience was ok, but I'm expecting these to be a very big improvement (also considering I wasn't able to use the nose bridge).
Looks awesome. Does it still require the mobile screen to be on and the phone unlocked to use it? Last I heard on Android you could not lock the phone and still use these glasses to view video. I want this but if I cannot lock the screen and put it into my pocket and still play videos on youtube and other sites like udemy then I will wait till the next version that is "walking friendly".
So have you found an adapter that allows charging and display at the same time, It sucks that I can only use it for 40min at a time before my galaxy s22 ultra's battery dies?
Hey Gadget, did you say you can use these on a Windows PC? I've watched all kinds of videos on NReal and they all talk about Android and lately iOS devices BUT I've never heard of using this with a PC? I am trying to replace my small laptop monitor with some cool AR glasses and thought I'd have to use my company iPhone and the mobile Outlook, Word and other business apps. BUT if I can use this with a PC that is all I need to know to get one of these. CAN YOU REALLY use this with a PC? Please say yes :-) LOVE THE VIDEO, thanks for the great info!
@@SomeGadgetGuy Thanks Juan, yeah I've been able to get it working on ONE of my PCs and is a bit off due to needing glasses and is not quite as big as I would like it. Since I have an iPhone 12 and a bunch of PCs I would have NEVER BOUGHT THIS if I could have tested it out first. Definitely a case of "Internet Purchase Blues", maybe I can resell them, only VERY lightly used.
Juan I am glad you did a video on these glasses. could you please do a follow up video with it connected to the steam deck and pc also use with a usb-c hub for power, (not a dock stand) but a small usb-c hub that fits into you shirt or pants pocket.
What I do is I have a galaxy s22 ultra and I use ether a wireless dock or a magsafe battery pack to charge the phone while I use the glasses so I don't really have to worry about my battery much
Looks great. How does it work with devices like the surface duo? I saw some posts a few months ago that said it either did it didn't work at all, had problems, or worked fine.
I haven't had GREAT experiences with the smaller splitters, if they don't support enough power to the host, the host won't put an image out. A proper dock, with my steam deck, and using an adapter to switch from HDMI to USBC is functional, but isn't the most convenient. Hoping to test a few more dongles until I find one that works.
Neither? The problem will be the iphone. It doesn't handle video out and powering accessories over the lightning connector. You can get a battery adapter that helps, but you probably won't ever get the same support for AR, and you'll need a small battery puck connected.
This sounds cool in a way to get rid of the tv in your bedroom and still have a tv lol. Ordered my so I can take my dog on walks while watching something as well as cardio I wonder if you can make them look more like regular glasses maybe a little lighter on the lense :o
Its hard to call this augmented reality without 3D and 6dof, but its neat and affordable compared to other options on the market. It serves as a good end user comfort benchmark.
@JuanBagnell curious to know how you got them to work. I ordered a pair for my wife (using an S21+) and when she tried to connect them it said her device was incompatible. I got the same error on my S21 Ultra, even though both are listed as being compatible on their website. I updated the firmware on the glasses and still continue to get the same incompatibility error. Still looking for a work around for them to work on our devices.
Just got mine. They MUST add head tracking to the Steam Deck. The display locked to your view is a deal breaker. I’m thinking of returning them for that reason alone. The screen is beautiful but so big your natural reaction is to move your head toward the corners. Also the no direct HDMI connection is just stupid.
How’s the image in the corner area? My set of Rokid Air has pretty much the same specs but corner of the image is a little blurry and a bit of chromatic aberration. I couldn’t really read the corner text when I use them on my laptop as a display with windows menu etc.
I’m wondering if I would be able to use this for my cinema camera. Sometimes shooting out in super bright daylight can be difficult so using this as a monitor would be a pretty cool solution.
With the visor and the HDMI adapter yeah, that should work. Editing on it might be kinda tricky depending on color and accuracy. I'm not skilled enough at color calibration to comment on that as much, but it was great editing on my phone LOL.
@@SomeGadgetGuy I saw a review where a guy did that and it cost him $200 for the lenses and an additional $40 to drill the little holes to mount them to the supplied frame. I wear contacts and need reading glasses for close up stuff so I was expecting to have to modify some reading lenses to fit the little frame they give you but was surprised to find I can see the screens perfectly clearly.
That could work. I'd be a little worried about continued use, driving the battery warmer to power the phone AND charge wirelessly, and it would be REALLY blocky and heavy to use the phone as a pointer if you wanted the AR interface. But it could work.
It's the same field of view. It depends on how large a screen is, and how far away you sit from it. We try to measure the field of view as it relates to a viewing distance. For example, the Nreal are pretty close to the same size as my 24" monitor at around two feet from my head. That's a similar "size" image as sitting ten feet away from my 50" TV.
@@SomeGadgetGuy oh thanks for the response, I thought its 200 inches as advertise, because I'd like to use it as a movie screen because most laptop are just 16inches, btw as of right now there's no nebula app for windows but can you adjust on how large the screen can be in windows 11? Or is it fix? I don't like the AR feature just a large second screen

Could you look into the issue of OnePlus phones no longer having the ability to out put video from usb-c to HDMI after the Android 12 update? OnePlus has been giving me the runaround for weeks now and keeps blaming my accessories. They keep saying they need a DP chip and that's the issue. I am seeing other people having the same issue across multiple models of phones. This happens after the Android 12 update that OnePlus says doesn't cause the issue, can you confirm?
Hi, this is a known issue. If your sub system version is higher than 11_C.65, then Nebula app cannot work with Air. We are trying to discuss with Oneplus and find a better solution.
Currently after the Android 12 update, my OnePlus won't output anything but Android auto through the USBC. It doesn't matter what device I try to use. After 2 weeks of this I am shopping new phones. I will "Never Settle" for a One Plus phone again. What a bad purchase decision. OnePlus customer service is so awful I never want to have to talk to them again.
Crazy that in 5 years we aren't gonna need PC's or TV's or monitors. Our phones will be more powerful than our PC's are today, and these glasses will be way more discreet
I love the look of these glasses and will eventually get some ... I have to say that a lot of videos about these talk about they were not available in the USA but they could be got in the UK easily ... YEA RIGHT! ... as a UK citizen I can honestly say that unicorn pee is easier to buy! .. they do not exist on Amazon UK .. I can buy from Ebay! hmm!! or if I change my mobile provider to EE I can buy some from them!! ... who started spreading the rumors of ease of buying in the UK ... they need a kick up the backside!!! LOLish!
That's a super nice unit, but they really need to come down on the price. For the same amount you can get a whole lot more with a Meta headset....just sayin'
I mean sure. They COULD drop the price, and then you just sign away all your data to Meta, and then portal you into a proprietary app store so they can make the costs back on licensing, or you could just spend a little more upfront and not have to deal with any of that mess...
@@SomeGadgetGuy The bottom line is that folks don't have a lot of extra money to throw around and you just have to get more bang for your buck. Maybe things will improve in the near future and that issue won't be so prominent. I really do like the smaller form factor

Fov will suck for vr, but is that gonna stop us?
It will not!
Hi, AR and VR are different, and the current FOV of Air glass is enough for viewing.
According to Nreal the maximum refresh rate is 60hz. Developers can enable 72hz for whatever reason.
Crazy that in 5 years we aren't gonna need PC's or TV's or monitors. Our phones will be more powerful than our PC's are today, and these glasses will be way more discreet
I really hope so. I'm kinda worried that phones might become less capable over the next couple years.
LOLish!
Aw that's a bummer. EE won't sell you some? You HAVE to be on a contract with them?
CAN YOU CONNECT THIS TO A PS5?
Yes
If it has HDMI out you can buy an adapter.
I guess a workaround for the phone batteries is to use a wireless charger.
Only NTSC after the update no PAL
Ugh. That's a bummer.
Chris cornell? I saw that
That's a super nice unit, but they really need to come down on the price.
Wow your motorola does more than an iPhone 14 Pro Max so sad.
I want it for my SE 2022
It stills lacks a bit of stealthiness. Wouldnt go out in a random city wearing these
Thanks for the feedback! Compared to VR HMDs, Nreal Air fits in pretty seamlessly with regular sunglass wouldn't ya say? 😎
I'm in downtown Atlanta and wear these out all the time.
