Well done. The panel with just the primer is perfect. Adds to the look of a hasty repair in the field.
I'm glad you like it 😀
I tried the bullet holes with my 9mm for realism but my model disappeared. I'll try it your way next time. Nice build , thank you
Better try 40 cal for better results
I shelled mine with a mortar and got desired results
As a kid, used BB guns; gasoline; and a match!!
You did that still awesome after all these years Tamiya Sturmgeschutz IV justice my friend. Great job, looks fantastic.
What a beautiful StuG! And a great video too :D Very fun to watch. Thank you for posting, and I will look forward to the rest of the weathering process~
I'm glad you enjoyed it! Your recent StuG has inspired me to try something new. Thank you for dropping by!
love this chipping, it looks very real.
+Adam Mann I'm glad you liked it, Adam! If you're curious check my most recent video, where I show how I made a heavily chipped white wash on a StuG III Ausf.B 🤓
Great video and I am impressed with the weathering techniques, these are the most realistic I’ve seen. Very similar to what happens to modern tanks even on field training exercises.
For future reference the German didn’t paint their fire extinguishers red until the 1990s
They either kept it the “hull red “ color of the primer of the panzer grey color
They were painted all kinds of colors and red was one of colors used. Your entire statement is incorrect.
I just love the Pop sound occuring while installing similar parts and all the humor in your videos :). And of course didactics you present. Thanks!
I'm glad you do! Thanks for watching
Fantastico! In all my years of modeling it never even occurred to me to simply use "brute force" to damage side skirts and other parts. I was always stuck in the mindset of applying heat with a candle. One thought, the damaged schurzen hanger would be much more likely to break at the weld than in its middle section.
One of the best model build/paint videos I’ve seen. Learned a lot from this. The first being I’ve still got a lot to learn :-)
Muchas gracias, Ricardo :)
It's a great modelling technique...I use it all the time now...I wear gloves when using a #11 blade...the blood drips inside the glove and doesn't get all over my work area like it use to....Thanks.
Great job! I use your working style for my models and i am quite pleased with that...... Keep up the beautifull work you do, it's brilliant.
Thank you! I'm glad you find my videos useful
Sergio, I just finished watching this again and noticed that the holes in the chasis for the motors were not covered up. All the old Tamiya kits are notorious for having those. I put tape on the bottom where the holes are and then fill them with Tamiya putty from inside. When its dry you can sand it and have a nice smooth chasis. I hope this will come in handy for you. Thank you again for sharing your fantastic videos.
Nice work. The shurzen were made from 8mm steel and could not be easily bent, the force necessary to bend them would brake the brackets first.
Richtig tolle Arbeit und spitze Alterung. Gefällt mir. 👍
vielen Dank!
Outstanding Sergio, You are an inspiration !!!
+Matthew James Thanks a lot, Matthew!
Hahaha...nice touch! Weathering with the MG! :D
great work Sergio!!! awesome
Thanks Paul!
Good idea to cut the skirts in bits. However they are a bit too sick. I would sand them or replace them with photo etched parts...
Outstanding, thanks for the upload.
My pleasure 😌
Hello!
You ARE funny :)
Great testing ground these old Tamiya kits...
Hi Radu! I'm glad you enjoyed the video and the silliness included 😁
Late to the show. Currently have this very kit on my bench right now. This kit is a mess tbh and needs a decent amount of TLC to make it build really well. First thing I did with mine is fill in all the holes on the lower hull. First the bottom, then the sides using Milliput. I have a bunch of Tool and extinguisher spares from past Dragon kits I've done that I plan to use plus an extra Eduard's Pz IV Side Armor PE set as well. I've also used Tamiya's Primer G to replicate the steel cast texture on the Saukopf Mantlet, where Tamiya's cast is too smooth. I've had fun so far although theres alot of work in this old kit.
Outstanding!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you!
the fire extinguishers was until feb 1943 ligth gray (not normal panzer gray) and after feb. 1943 normal german panzer yellow.
Excellent work and thanks for sharing your knowledge. I noticed your Stug was completed without tracks. Were some Stugs left stationary without tracks when used in certain situations?
I can't get my plastic machine gun to shoot - help! :)
Don't worry, it's probably for the best 😁
Shooting blanks
Obrigado
¡Me gustó mucho!
Amazing, just curious, I love my colour modulations but would like to give hairspray chipping a go. Does multiple coats make it harder to chip?
very nice! amazing editing aswell
Thank you! It's very time consuming but I enjoy it
muy interesante excelente técnica Felicidades
+dad rebo Muchas gracias ☺️
Love it, especially the bullets, I need to try that way too! ;)
I'm glad you like it! Just be very careful :P
yeah, they might ricochet! ;D
this is excellent! I like it.
¡es muy bien! me gusta :)
Thank you! Extra points for a dual language comment 👍
I really like your vids, I learn a lot from them. I have a queation about chipping fluid or hairspray. When you have sprayed the model with chipping fluid, how long have you to wait before you paint the model?
When I shot my armor with my mp40 my armor disappeared. Looks good as always
stupid to mound items as the fire extinguisher unpainted, paint them before mouting, apart from that , fantastic work !
Great work and cool presentation!
Thank you!
Incorrect fire extinguisher colour. They were grey or dark green back then.
Sergio please canu tellme wich orange brown u used
I just picked this kit up and i forgot that the tools on the outside exist so i need to get paints for that. Should I go with a wood/beige/brown color and a metallic kind of paint? I already have black paint
How hard do you think this is to do fully with normal brushes? Almost finished assembling and preparing to paint
Lo stug un mito ottimo
like your video.....very informative.....
+Adrian Otero Glad to hear that!
I started this model a couple of weeks ago and found this before starting painting, it's been very useful, thank you! What do you use for your "hairspray" mix? I can see you are using the airbrush to apply it but can't tell what it is.
Hi! I'm glad you found my videos useful. I use a strong type of hairspray I found locally. Nothing special, and I apply it straight from the bottle
Btw 321 is on steam now.
This series of videos is such a big help! Could I ask where you got the circle template you use to paint the wheels?
Thank you! I got it locally, in an office supplies store
why do you paint the details of the stowage *before* you do the dunkgelb base coat?
Red on youre tank? Do you realy want every bomber, tank or antitank gun spot you from a distance?
No no no.. 22k subs? U need more! I will start
+1
Welcome aboard!
Is there a way to weather without an airbrush?
¡Saludos!
funniest tutorial isnt it?!?har!har!
I give you 500-th like;) thank you from Ukraine.
Much appreciated!
Excellent vid. (Red fire extinguisher?)
Thanks! Yeah, it should be grey, but I thought red would be a nice touch of color.
By the way. I'm just finishing the Tamiya Stug II. Your video, along with Sergio Mendes' vid, helped whit painting. I've got it on a "really pretty" dio that I'm doing for upcoming show.
Thanks for your well presented uploads. :)
Oh...and green was also used. 8)
I'm glad you found my channel useful. Good luck with your diorama
Woops...I called Carlos the wrong name.
PEW PEW PEW! :D
and PEW! (you missed one) :D
is the content of the hairspray water? do i need to let it dry before applying the dark yellow?
The content of the hairspray is water-soluble hairspray. Let it dry for about 5 or 10 minutes before applying the top paint
thanks for the technique !!1
Will you paint the RFM Tiger 1 as well?
Yes, eventually
What about the tracks?
Check the third part: ua-cam.com/video/3yoNxmlmQ4U/v-deo.html
armor does not bend
Just letting you know to be careful wearing gloves while using a dremel. It can be very dangerous D:
Thank you for your suggestion. Security is very important 👍
Actually fire extinguisher on tanks is not red, maybe for the inside extinguisher is red but in the outside it not red for german tanks it usually painted same with the body color ua-cam.com/video/IvKlS_XTeAU/v-deo.html maybe this helps. I like your work keep it up man !
Hey Khalid! Yes, I saw that video before and I think he's right (every modeller should check it out), but he's talking about modellers who paint the body and then install the tools with their original color. I painted all tools and the fire extinguisher and then covered them with the same color as the body, but then I chipped the paint and that revealed the real color of things (black metal/wood for the tools and red for the fire extinguisher). Of course not all fire extinguishers of that time were red, but some of them were. I really appreciate your intention of helping me! Please don't hesitate the next time, because I guarantee you I'll make mistakes, but want to learn from them 🤓
Where he separates the side plates with his scalpel- please don't do that at home boys and girls...
I do it all the time, I usually model the Schurzen as damaged or missing entirely.
Commenting 2024, for a kit that’s nearly 50 years old, impressive build and imo still compares well to much more modern stuff, got to love Tamiya😮…
Thank you for all your helpful and entertaining videos. I really appreciate the English subtitles and your simple approach to builds. I've learned a lot and always look forward to seeing your videos. You can see some of my work on instagram at @boxcar_bret Cheers!
Hi Bret! I'm glad you enjoyed the video. I'll check your Instagram and maybe create an account. I've heard it's a cool place to find inspiration
I did it! And I'm now following you. Mine is @sergio.solo, in case you want to follow me back :)
I hope you're not finished with the skirting. Because there's no way that any armor from any country ever went into battle with a big orange bulls eye on the side of their tanks for the enemy to scope in on and shoot at. But this is only video 2.
