Synthaxe definitely gets an 11/10. That's how you make a synth guitar. The idea of a guitar, controlling synths, plus a famous jazz guitarist made it his signature thing for a while.
I saw kid rock out in the wild one time. How i know it was kid rock is because i saw a big lifted white truck with "Kid Rock" written across the windshield and he was walking towards it. It was in a wealthy touristy coastal town near some of the hotels on the bayfront, it was actually a place you might see someone like that. Im not the type to recognize celebrities, and i live in the american south so even someone looking like kid rock wouldn;t stand out all that much to me. But the truck was a bit of a give away lol i saw it first and was like "wtf? who likes kid rock THAT much?" And then i saw him and was like oh thats ACTUALLY kid rock. Is it more weird or less weird for him to drive a vehicle with his name in big letters on it?

@3:36 speaking of hockey stick guitars, there is a luthier in metro south St. Louis, MO area that is currently building what looks to be a telecaster-esque hollow body with the neck made from modern carbon fibre hockey sticks. Apparently, it is supposed to be a custom made for the St. Louis Blues.
Here's my take: If you're considering spending thousands on a guitar (or other instrument) because it's weird, wonky and eccentric: Go for it, have fun! If you're considering spending thousands on a guitar (or other instrument) because of it's history and "How much it's seen", here's my suggestion: Step 1: Don't buy the expensive guitar. Step 2: Go outside. Step 3: Pick up a rock. Any ol' rock. Step 4: Realize that this random rock has existed for, at minumum, tens of thousands of years and has seen way more history than just about any man-made object in existence. Step 5: You just saved thousands. And you now have a pet rock. Profit. ... but seriously, i get nostalgia and collector's value, but things do get rather silly, sometimes.

You need to pass by Martin Guitars in Nazareth, PA. When you take the tour, the end of the tour puts you in a room full of classic guitars that you are welcome to play.

I don't remember what my first guitar cost, but it was too big for me and uncomfortable to play (no idea what the music store was thinking not telling me to go for something smaller). So when I picked up the guitar again after college, I traded it in for something I could play without my shoulder and arm hurting and my hand not being able to grip the neck very well. It was a better deal for them than me, but I couldn't really play it and I didn't want to try to sell it myself for a better price. I just wanted something I could play right then 😂
Back in the 80s I used to watch a PBS TV show that appeared to be from Great Britain where the people were explaining how to play that synth axe and all the things they were doing with it. I wasn't even a guitar player back then but that thing was fascinating. When I became a bass player in 1997 I would go to music stores and wonder, hey whatever happened to that guitar I was learning about in the '80s? I thought it was going to be the 21st century guitar. Thanks for giving me the name. Now I can research it. 😁

My grandfather gave me a 1954 Strat and a 1968 Rickenbacker bass. He was a professional musician from the late 40’s to the early 80’s. I’ve used the Strat on stage untold times and absolutely love it.
I quite like the homemade Alembic. Looks very well done. It might be $2k+ worth if it plays and sounds good. Knew about the Dylan Fender XII sale. I'm blown away Synthaxes now fetch that much. The L-7 is really very pretty. My guess is $40-50k on the Gibson Skylark. Here in Indy, it's pronounced "Err-say". It's a small point of local pride that Gilmour's guitar is in town.
I'm pretty sure someone from Cannibal Corpse (or any typical brutal DM band) would "kill" to get their hands on that "flesh" guitar. Hey; you want bloody chunks? YOU GOT IT!!!
This awesome. So many times I've seen gear listings on Kijiji where I've had to resist messaging the seller "Are you crazy asking that much? Did you even research what you're selling?" Thankfully I know better to resist that urge though I often wonder if these sellers are truly perplexed why no one is making any serious offers.
"Biz zit"? I think that is the name of a business that makes pimple cream. Perhaps "Bizay"? I don't understand complex English Major phonetic symbols. I have heard of a few classical composers. I love it. Thank you for that pronunciation. I add that to my repertoire of things like "sauvignion' being pronounced at a wine store as "saw vig non" and a "molybdenum" alloy tool being sold at a tool store as "Molly beat 'um".
They should come up with a rock group,,,, with Ronald mc Donald as front man,,, the hamburgler play lead and rhythm guitar,,, mayor mc cheese on bass and grimes on drums ,,, but have them make up serious songs and music and give them a cool stage act! I’d pay to see something like that!
Why not? You ever see Kiss,,, or bucket head! Alice cooper,,, twisted sister,,,it’s time for a new one-- system of the clown!🤣Hungry clown posse! They could throw cheese burgers and condiment packets into audience! If any body has the chicken mc nugget’s to carry this out !,,, don’t forget where you got the idea from! Gotta go now for some reason I got a hankerin for a cheeseburger 🍔🎸😂!
10:50 Hey, the Epiphone Negative series! I have the SG myself, bought it for a much more reasonable price of £260 (kinda suprised one of those Long & McQuade exclusive models made it over to England). A friend has the Explorer version too (hi Jen!)
Great vid, you should make a video on people trying to get ridiculous prices on squires. For some reason there is not a difference between MIMS ,American Fenders and off brands, as long as it has a Stratocaster style body. .
I read this comment before getting to that point in the video and when I read "Flesh Guitar" I was somehow hoping that it would be the "Man Guitar"-prop from "From Dusk Till Dawn".
New to this channel, so i have no idea if you've covered it or not. But about 10 years back, i believe it was on andertons website. It was a fender jaguar, but made from wood from an actual jaguar car (cant remember which one) and it was up for sale for £40,000. Always just remember it being absolutrly ludicrous money
I'll never forget a Reverb listing for a used Fender Pro Jr, the 15 watt 10" speaker tube combo from the late 2000's that was once Noel Gallagher's. On a good day, a used one is about $350 USD. The asking price was something like $3000! I'm a huge Noel fan, but a generic Mexican made Fender tube combo does not magically increase in value just because it was his home practice amp. Maybe a $500 premium on top of the normal used price because of that novelty, but certainly not boutique amp price, that's for damn sure!
I kind of agree, but the strat owned by Dave Gilmour magically increased to just shy of 4 million, solely because he played it, so maybe an Oasis fan might like it. Or Liam may want to buy it so he can smash it up. Who knows?
@@castleanthrax1833 I say this as a massive Noel fan, but comparing his playing and home practice amp that as far as I know, that was never recorded on any legendary Oasis(or NGHFB) songs, or toured with, to David Gilmour, his legendary playing and guitar that has recorded many iconic Floyd songs and been played and toured around the world on many a stage, is beyond apples to oranges. Still having said that, I too think $4 million is an insane price to pay for that "mystique"!
@@msmoniz I wasn't comparing them. I was just pointing out that items do "magically" increase in value, depending on who has owned and played them in the past.
If memory serves me well, I think that the Futurama was one of the strange Strat copies that George Harrison played in the very early Liverpool days of the Beatles... not that any of those (other then hispersonal one) would now be worth anywhere near $70k. But it wasn't that much of an oddity.
There are suckers born every minute. My brother once sold a grilled cheese sandwich on EBay for $200 because he said it had the image of Jesus on it after he grilled it. It sort of did, if you squinted and used your imagination; but it was enough to sell it to some sucker who was absolutely thrilled to get it. Go figure.
The Bolin french fry guitar is made by John Bolin He makes all of ZZs custom touring guitars like the fur guitar the peelers etc he's a highly sought after builder
Fun video, funnier pronunciation of names. 3:14 The "Bizet" from 'The Joker' guitar is the French Romantic-era composer Georges Bizet -- so silent 'T'. 11:11 Jim Irsay = 'Ear' + 'Say' -- I grew just outside of Indianapolis.
I always get a kick out of the memorabilia stores in Las Vegas that have framed autographed guitars by famous musicians selling for crazy money. The funny thing is the guitars themselves are always crap. They’re pawn shop no name guitars or at the absolute best, squires. They never sell framed autographed American made guitars.
When you make a chariry buy like that Gilmour guitar, how much money goes toward the purchase and how much is considered tax deductible? It's essentially a donation right?
The guitar (or whatever) is donated by the previous owner, so aside from whatever fees the auction house takes, it all goes to the charity. My guess is that the previous owner and not the new owner gets the tax credit for the donation, though, since nominally the new owner bought it for "fair market value".
I think the "expected to sell soon" is just something reverb adds regardless. Saw that on a "custom steampunk Jackson neck" which was just a neck where the headstock broke in half and was fixed with a strip of metal and 2 screws and then someone held a lighter to it to add burn marks bc i guess that's steam punk?
You definitely need to invest in a hollowbody jazzbox... I recommend Godin, for bang for the buck... they made me a believe in laminate tops... great acoustic sound and volume, and a choice of P90s, or humbuckers...
Trogly has a Les Paul with an explorer headstock for a 100grand. Like even if I was rich you could buy custom shop guitars from all the big guitar makers and still have some cash leftover. I just don’t see spending the money a house costs on a guitar.
Here’s a great guitar story. In 1982 mybrother in law was working as a service and installation tech for Southwestern Bell telephone (now AT&T) one summer day in he was given a work order
I would not have been surprised, if the French Fries Axe was owned (and played) by Rick Nielsen from Cheap Trick. (I never was too interested in their music, but I'd sure like to see his collection of weird guitars...)
My Les Paul is the most expensive guitar I own. Paid just under $6000.00 for it over 15 years ago. It's worth at least double that today I'm this market. But my favorite most customized guitar is my '89 Fender Stratocaster. Has two invaders with a Mightymite Motherbucker in-between them. Wired with a Killswitch similar to Tom Morello's guitars. Routed for a Floyd Rose tremolo with green noiseless springs with a solid brass block. I'm wiring green LED lights into the fretboard for the dot inlays. The parts alone cost 5 X's the price of the guitar brand new... But it was my first electric. I'll never get rid of it! Had it since I was 6 years old! I'm now 33.
I just realized I don't think I've ever seen you with your hair down. Requesting down do video ASAP, but all you can do in the video is air guitar a samurai sword or a warrior who has fallen by said samurai sword to various jams.
I spent 200 on a guitar that was listed as beginner… i did not expect beginner to mean “we have to repair this guitar extensively and your whammy bar doesnt work properly”
Last year, I blew more than my monthly salary on a guitar that I saw on TV in 1993 and which made me wanna play the instrument in the first place. My 14 years old self would be ecstatic.
"Big Mac Gobbler"🤣😂 LOL... BTW: Ren Ferguson was a Master Builder in Bozeman, Montana, at the Gibson Acoustic Shop. He moved to California to work at Guild Guitars.
Had an opportunity to purchase a Jackson Zoraxe guitar around 10-15 years ago on Ebay. Completely hand carved and painted. Custom case. Never played. Just a gorgeous instrument! Looked like a skeletonized mutant fish creature...very cool. Had to have it!! The seller didn't play so I guess he was just trying to get what he could out of it...he had won it in some raffle. He was only asking US$3,500.This was a fantastic deal as there were only 6 ever made. But I could only come up with $2,500. Got him down to $3,000 eventually, but still $500 short. I'm a huge fan of Jackson guitars anyway...broke my heart that it got away. It sold for the $3,00 that day. He prolly could've gotten a good bit more than that... I actually saw one of them for sale at Ed Roman Guitars a while ago for like $12,500.
I still think that the most expensive guitar on reverb had a reference to a Sammy g video. When it said that it was similar to Jerry's, that immediately made me think of the guitar that Jerry painted in the weirdest guitars video
I at first thought the same thing😂 but now I think it's more likely the description is refering to Jerry Garcia, and his custom made guitars like "Tiger". The "Joker" guitar looks very similiar to it
I just bought 3 of the guitars in this video, as well as a SammyG tee
Of course you did because you can afford it. Everyday I see your guitars and wish for all of them
If you need to waste a million or two I can help. Just an FYI 👍🏽
we love you bro
Dude! I watch all of your videos and now you are following me to other channels! I guess that just means your awesomeness is unavoidable! LOL
Why am I not surprised

Yeah, a joke... or rather a very long shot to make a million bucks if it actually works.
He even has T-Shirts with the first picture on it!
I bet you someone will buy it, *cough* *cough* Tyler *cough*.
Its hideous and looks like it has butt cheeks. Now the French Fry guitar id rock it at a lower price.
A million isn't the most ever paid for a guitar.
-10/10 I assume means: "I would sell my house just so I don't have to own this guitar."
This is the most bandkid joke ive seen idk why
You know a guitar is weird when it makes even Sammy G say “What the shit?”
No joke
He even left it uncensored!!! He was so willing to let the viewer know how he felt that he wouldn’t let community guidelines take his dignity.
My only aspiration in life is becoming a rich guitar collecting big mac gobbler
A noble goal
If I had the money, I'd gift it to Mac sabbath,
Didn’t the David Gilmore Strat get beat out by the unplugged Kurt Cobain acoustic? Didn’t that thing sell for 6 million or something like that?
Exactly, I just thought the same thing.
@UCKK_GmlIlTFoKgNt9r5Gd_w that’s what I thought.

You should do it. Call it "ridiculous reverb listings" or something along those lines. I don't know? I'm not too good at this.
Ayy.

Oh hey Fluff.
Not sure if it’s just a friendly joke or if you really are bitchin, but he’s been doing these videos on reverb well before you made your first one.

Nice shout-out to Roy "Future man" Wooten! The Wooten brothers are iconic.
@5:45 I remember seeing that concert on PBS. I have it on tape somewhere.
I always thought that instrument was entirely custom/homemade.
For some reason there is not a difference between MIMS ,American Fenders and off brands, as long as it has a Stratocaster style body. .
That flesh guitar was actually sick, I'd love to have that on my shelf!
I read this comment before getting to that point in the video and when I read "Flesh Guitar" I was somehow hoping that it would be the "Man Guitar"-prop from "From Dusk Till Dawn".
I still need you to review New Complexity for your weird guitars series!!
That joker guitar actually looked like quite a nice instrument
The only stupidity is when somebody buys something like one of these thinking they are going to sound better playing it.
Isnt Cobains Unplugged Acoustic the most expensive?
It is lmao it sold for $6 million
Dylan played that 12 string for the recording sessions of blonde on blonde, but I’m not sure any track where he’s playing it made it onto the record
When I saw the first one I immediately thought "When the wife tells you to sell the guitar but you want to keep it."
2:49 is it just me or does this guitar have an absolute dumpy
There are suckers born every minute. My brother once sold a grilled cheese sandwich on EBay for $200 because he said it had the image of Jesus on it after he grilled it. It sort of did, if you squinted and used your imagination; but it was enough to sell it to some sucker who was absolutely thrilled to get it. Go figure.
I love that the first video in recommendations for this is "Musician? Here's 13 ways to avoid crushing debt"
Futur-am-ah is the first time I've really seen your Canadian come through
Edit: also Joe bona-mass-ah
NO joke. Hearing those dry ass cork connections on the Clarinet gave me chills.
Didn’t know how much I needed Sammy G playing the lick on a clarinet until this moment ❤
Ren Ferguson was the master luthier for Gibson that started the acoustic line in Bozeman Mt. A Ren Ferguson guitar is the highest tier custom shop.
See what I mean man, looking for the synthaxe is like chasing the dragon
Kid rock went to the high school I’m currently at and he left a signed guitar in display case that still remains on the wall
You have the best merch. Aesthetic is on point, and fits your branding super well.
I think that beautiful description alone is worth 1.3 mil lol
Everything else aside, is that a 2012 macbook pro? Kudos for keeping it up and running, those things are beast!!
Blonde on Blonde is a masterpiece!!!
Re most of these... the phrase "A fool and his money are soon parted" springs readily to mind
I'm now 33.
Henri Selmer immortal God of woodwinds and patron Saint of mythbusters is maybe the coolest thing to come out of this video.
I found the listing for the Selmer "slap" steel. Shipping within the UK was only £11.
I’m happy with any guitar that stays in tune...
I love this because the regular price is still the "student grade" of cello and other similar instruments
Finished giving a guitar lesson and I get a SammyG video right after? Dope
it’s 2 am and i’m watching a bunch your videos bc i spent all day watching super scary videos and i can’t sleep 🥲 tysm for what you do ❤️
Last year, I blew more than my monthly salary on a guitar that I saw on TV in 1993 and which made me wanna play the instrument in the first place. My 14 years old self would be ecstatic.
Which guitar?
@@ettat.3806 This one. A Blade RH 4. ua-cam.com/video/0rc0PwPTCx4/v-deo.html
9:07 As they say "If you have to ask for the price, you can't afford it!"
"Big Mac Gobbler"🤣😂 LOL... BTW: Ren Ferguson was a Master Builder in Bozeman, Montana, at the Gibson Acoustic Shop. He moved to California to work at Guild Guitars.
So what’s the best Guitar kit for a beginner I want to play but do I have to learn how to read music
"Predicted to sell soon." Predicted to be mocked til the end of dhogg dhoo itself. Ha Ha Ha.
Jump on Amazon, there’s a pick guard with pickups and volume knobs for $25,000…. I can’t figure out why🤔
As some one who likes bc rich that bass physically hurt me
When I first saw the joker guitar my first though was it looks like tiger (one of Jerry garcias guitars) funny they mention it in the description
