Change can be tough, man. :^) Baker was awesome though. Never be another like him, that's for sure. Speaking of which, there was a bricklayer in N. Alabama named J.T. Perkins that was cut from the same mold as Baker.
What a weird video! Old Dangerfield was written on the mandolin by Bill Monroe and you have one of the best Monroe-style mandolinists in the world, Mike Compton, on stage and the fiddle takes three breaks the mandolin zero? Hog the microphone much Gabe?
Glad you have a photo of Kenny Baker... so what? That gives you the right to insult a young man who's devoted his whole life to this music? I'm sure Gabe Witcher likes the playing of Kenny Baker too. In fact, Stuart Duncan used to play a fiddle Kenny gave him... I guess Kenny liked young people who were interested in fiddle music.
Sorry, I'm just an old "Moldy Fig" as someone described old grumps like me...This boy and lots like him ...Mark O'Connor is the worst..put the whole kitchen sink in there...I would love to have a CD of Mark playing obscure fiddle banjo tunes, etc..I have a very good photo of Baker I took in McKinney in the 70's..I would be glad to email it to you if you would just make a print for yourself and not let someone mass produce it...let me know...Thanks for the email!
David Grier FTW with the best style and grace, timing etc.
The most tasteful guitarist around
How does Mike Compton not get a mando break on Old Dangerfield???
Go figure! The mandolinist who most inspired him wrote the thing!
@@captbanjo1 totes - was so disappointed by that!
Thinking the same thing!
just fantastic wow!!
David is a class of his own!
Awesome folks..👌😊👏🎶
They don't repeat the third part. Never heard anyone do it that way.
Loved this.....however.....criminal not to give compton his own break.....he is the best Monroe style player....and this is a Monroe classic.....
Everybody Got to Take a Break Except The Mandolin 🤔🤔

Thank you for uploading.Wow!

Sierra Hull rocks it out on an Octave Mandolin. Check it out if you haven't seen it.
Mandolin1944 s ditto dude WTF!
The name of the dvd is fiddlemasters -- it's fiddle-oriented.

I'll take Baker's version anytime..! This style of fiddle bores the shit out of me...
