Great video Shelby! And thank you for pointing out the absurdity of that article suggesting skipping breakfast to "fight inflation". Skipping meals definitely does not need to be normalized.
Intermittent fasting is actually pretty healthy and beneficial not just for blood sugar and your GI tract, but so much more. That being said, many people need to eat at minimum 3 small meals a day for health reasons, blood sugars, etc. so there goes that advice - you can’t give advice like that to the masses without getting into trouble
I fight inflation by skipping breakfast, lunch, and oh what the heck, dinner too. I've been saving a lot of money and losing weight too! The negative side effect is that, well, I've barely had enough energy to type this comment, oh well...
I want to learn how to trade after listening to a guy on radio talk about the importance of investing and how he made $460,000 in 4 months from $160k. Somehow this video has helped shed light on some things, but I'm confused about the current market volatility, i'm open to ideas...
That’s right, I started investing sometime in 2018 and by late 2019, I pulled a profit of over $750K, I was basically just following the guidelines set by the financial advisor I use, so you don't necessarily need to be a perfect investor or do the hardworks, just have a professional to guide you.
I'm being guided by *Sharon Louise Count* . She is a well known advisor. You can simply search her name on the web So that you can easily get in touch with her. she has years of experience in the financial market
Thanks, I just googled her full name and I'm really impressed with her credentials; I reached out to her since I need all the assistance I can get. I just scheduled a call.
One thing I've done is to just cut out unnecessary spending. It sucks sometimes, but if you're looking at something it's helpful to think "do I really need this? If I get it, how long will it last?" Obviously I do still splurge sometimes, but it is FAR less frequent and it's smaller things like a snack item, or a book from Costco. Also I only go to really 3 stores on a regular basis; Costco, Target and Safeway (to a lesser extent).
@@ShelbyChurch I was hoping all you find a better place where everything is cheap, I'm glad you found trader joe. America's inflation is reportly to be the most unreasonable on all the countries right now.
Shelby COSTCO! A rotisserie chicken, organic Turkey, dates, nuts, chia, quinoa, oat milk, snack bars, frozen fruits, tofu, hummus, bread, the meats/ salmon, and a good set of Tupperware/silicon bags to store everything in the freezer in smaller portions in there really cut costs and gets you a long way. It came to a point when I saw my spending on groceries and thought it was ridiculous to spend that much on them, so I tried for 1 month and it’s worth it.
Yes Costco is amazing!! I’m always cooking for one though, so I think I would have way too much food waste… it’s so great for families though. I love Costco.
@@ShelbyChurch when I did this I thought the same because it’s just me, but with some parchment paper, silicone bags and Tupperware you place everything in the freezer and you’re good to go.
I bought the Food saver thing where you can create your own vaccuum food bag to put in the freezer and am able to store the rotisserie chicken in like 6 small portions to eat over a few months!
I’m one person and I love Costco mostly because I cook for my dogs. Their organic ground turkey can’t be beat. Unfortunately it just went up from $17.99 for 3lbs to $19.99. But that’s inflation. I bought a BMW through Costco in 2004 and my house through them the next year. Always bought gasoline there. Tires as well. Now drive electric. I should have done my solar through them because that didn’t go well with a local company. Costco stands behind their stuff and the vendors who they link us to.
I used to hate Trader Joe’s, but now that I actually have a budget instead of spending $1,000 a month on doordash TJ’s is such an amazing store! I can get great dinners there for under $6 a piece, and it’s non GMO, no artificial preservatives, nothing in the food is bad! I love Trader Joe’s! And the selection is amazing!
Just a heads up, SoFi does not offer the 4% APY if you do not set up direct deposits from an actual employer. So if you are doing your own thing like I'm trying to do, you can't get access to the 4% APY on their savings accounts. They don't accept things like Venmo, Paypal etc. I didn't realize that until after I set up my account with them so hoping to save someone some time if they're also self employed. Great video Shelby, thanks!
Quick note: If you're planning on maintaining a deposit over the fdic limit.. do the due diligence and read up on what the bank is doing with your money. In some cases the bank can give you crazy good interest rates because they in turn are lending that money out to risky borrowers at higher rates.
Love this. Some people use coupons. Walmart has decent prices. There is a small mom and pop store close to my house where meat & chicken are very affordable. This video helps people save money. It's good putting your money in a saving with a higher APY. It's smart to put your money in separate accounts not put all your money in the same bank.
I’m a Kroger shopper because they send you coupons based on the products you are already buying. I also shop at Aldi since I find they have great prices to begin with.
You are so good at doing videos like this! My one additional suggestion as far as grocery shopping is concerned would be to always do a list before you shop, and buy only items on the list.

"it was very refreshing in this day and age to see a millennial actually be responsible for themself." I'm sorry but what is this supposed to mean? Millenials are out here trying to make it like everyone else and have been trying to since the 2009 recession when many of us were coming of age. Really tired of people piling on Millenials when its uncalled for.
@@stop08it most millennials want and are used to handouts..i.e. having others pay off their student debt, expecting to be able to have their hair done, their nails done, use credit cards as if there is no limit, go out to lunch and dinner everyday and not have to work for it...or live with their parents...this is NOT being responsible...most need to learn to live below their means...THAT's what it's supposed to mean.

I have been thinking that people will be outraged in the coming year when these food companies announce their record profits to the public, who innocently believed there was something else to blame. The 16% food inflation here in the UK does not add up to the absolute price gouging that is in progress in our stores. I cannot believe no one else is pointing this out.
Thanks Shelby! I've actually been practicing some of these and they are amazing tips, so this is confirmation for me. Also, your humility and practicality is refreshing, really appreciate you sharing so candidly.

Good Sunday afternoon Shelby. Excellent video. I definitely appreciate your recommendations for how to fight inflation during this inflationary times. 😊😊
This was pretty good, covering daily finance and food costs. Something I've discovered is meal kit deliveries, which seems more affordable and the tastes and cooking are a whole new level!
Great video, Shelby. I would add that people should stock up when they find good deals on stuff they buy all the time and to invest in a good bond index funds. When interest rates start to fall such funds should do well.
Agree with most of this except the not skipping meals bit. Skipping meals is good for your health if you're a healthy adult. Calorie restriction all the way to 100. It's also good for productivity once you get used to it since more of your blood goes to your brain and less to your digestive system. On top of that you save time (not preparing meals) and money (not paying for those meals). Win, win and win.
I haven’t seen a Safeway since I was a kid. I’m in VA. Safeway left here in the 90s. Then a store literally called “The Grocery Store,” took Their spot. Then Ukrop’s came along. Then Haaniford’s. They were bought out by Kroger. The Ukrops family sold their store to Martin’s. Then Martin’s went out of business. That was replaced by Publix. Sorry I ranted lol
Great suggestions, but I understood this was not financial advice. I learned if I want to save even more money that going to walmart is best value... Now why walmart can seem scary to some, it is the most interesting people watching I have ever seen. It will keep you grounded and worth the savings!
I am a NEW SUBSCRIBER!!😊 The nearest Trader Joe’s is about an hour away from us. It’s FRUSTRATING…that EVERY PLACE is RIPPING US OFF!!! Including our Employers that haven’t given us a raise in over 3 years. So many people are quitting. I’m close…🥺
I left Chase recently after 10 years they were charging me $12 per month service fee just for one checking account , I went to American first credit union , a local credit union in Vegas and maybe Utah, and the service fee is $0 things like cashiers free no limit at chase $8.25 . Chase doesn't offer secured credit cards but the local credit union does. So bigger doesn't always mean more services either.
You get 6% back on the first $6k of groceries. So $360 back just on that every year for a $99 fee. Good rewards on other stuff too. And they gave me no interest for a year on mine.
Awesome video. I'm now a new subscriber and I shared this on all of my socials. I have had a Capital One savings account for almost a year now. Smart move indeed. I also now have a 2% - 3% cash back Mastercard that I have SLOWLY started using and getting some cash back. I also invest in VOO and LOVE IT. So glad I found your channel!
I haven't watched your video yet but girl...the food at PCC is high vibrational... Trader joes food is dead dead dead.. you can feel it! Shopping at PCCs is like health care.
Great video :). We shop at Aldi and TJ's. Aldi has organic fruits and veggies and organic meats. Another options is local small produce store. We also charge EVERYTHING on a credit card, pay-off every month, and use the points for airline tickets, or apply the points for other discounts. EFT's are good option for lower risk investment and easier to manage.
@@intuitionsbyniko7537 Sure...it depends on your goals. There are many options. We live 1/2 year in Europe so our goal is free flights. Our choice is United Explorer and Chase Ink Business Preferred. Also points don't expire. Chase Ink Business Preferred also has cash back. I hope this helps.
There are cheaper grocery stores than Trader Joe’s. In my area it’s places like Food 4 Less and Winco. You don’t have to buy in bulk but there are bulk bins for pantry staples like rice and flour if you want to get the amount you actually need. But even the bags off the shelf are usually cheaper. And TJs is a bit of a novelty item store as well so you can be tempted to buy products you don’t need. I like TJs as much as anyone but it’s not the best way to save money. People knock the quality of the true bargain stores but it’s usually fine.
I didn't know eating breakfast was a privilege. Of course, you have your finances together as you come from wealth & your channel is doing well. You have a surplus in your income. Having a surplus in income is what we all need in order to bet inflation. Cute video though. You are such a great saleswoman.
Another pro for the Series I Bonds is that the earnings are exempt from state income tax, so you could also consider those savings part of the benefit. Depends on your state, some states have higher tax rates than others. You do still have to pay federal income tax on it though.
I bonds have the advantage of not having to pay taxes on them until you sell. You have to view it as a 20 year investment, not a short term investment. If you live in a high income tax state they are better than they appear. Think of them as a something for your retirement 20+ years in the future.
Capital One banker for years due to the higher interest. Before Capital One, it was ING Direct for me. I've checked out one of their cafes, but usually I'm not local to one to go regularly. I've definitely been checking prices more in grocery stores lately. Sometimes I notice an item increased 50 cents from one month to another. I mostly shop at Wegmans and Trader Joes. Comparing the prices in those stores to others around me, they are usually cheaper at both of those stores for the items I buy. Rakuten is really great around Christmas time too.
I’d recommend also buying loss leader products. Some products such as milk or rotisserie chickens (at Costco) are sold at discounts so it’s better to buy them.
Im in Seattle, I’ve been using CSAs since the fall. Hard to meal prep but it keeps me out of the grocery store. Trying a fruit CSA next month from collins farm if anyone is in Seattle. Helps the farmers and the prices are usually cheaper than going to the grocery stores
As someone that is doing it alone I will tell you the best deals are at Costco. Yes you can shop at costco as a single. Freezing and keeping things fresh is so much easier than it used to be. TJ is definitely the way to go for certain specialty items. That said coastco works and per unit is way cheaper than TJ.
German Aldi have different price for the same product 😳 and we have Lidl too,Kaufland is bigger with more items and Norma or penny.i think Euro is cheaper than Dollar you have more items with less money.
Yes! The mushrooms at Ranch 99 or at Zion (I hit both last weekend when I had an appointment nearby)! Such a great, fresh, selection and soooo inexpensive!
one thing good about inflation is that the economy running well. Meaning unemployment is low. You cannot have high inflation and a recession together. That never happends in economics.

I also have a charles schwab roth that I transfer a couple dollars to a week. My goal is to max that out this year. I like the series I bond advice to just diversify as you said. Thanks :)
Love this video...and really all of them! Keep crushing it.
Thanks Kim!!
This feels very on-topic and helpful right now!
Thank you Shelby. Good stuff. 👍 Always enjoyable to hear from You.
Great video Shelby, your like the little sister I never got... your so Rad. Great advice, great to see the content.
It’s nice to see the hustle you have, the work you put into your videos shows, great quality all the way through.
I love Trader Joe's and some things, mostly produce can be cheaper, but Walmart is still cheaper on most items. Aldi also has good prices.
I love how you always have such fun and interesting video ideas! This was a well done video and interesting to watch.
This is such useful financial education, thanks!
This is all of the stuff I’ve been reaching separately. This video is great! Thanks!
Amazing quality on this video, Shelby, A+! You are doing such a great job and your delivery is so down to earth. Keep them coming!
Great video, Shelby. I would add that people should stock up when they find good deals on stuff they buy all the time and to invest in a good bond index funds. When interest rates start to fall such funds should do well.
So nice to see you! I’ve missed the vlogs!
Vlogs will come back soon! Thank you!!
Then a store literally called “The Grocery Store,” took
Their spot. Then Ukrop’s came along. Then Haaniford’s. They were bought out by Kroger. The Ukrops family sold their store to Martin’s. Then Martin’s went out of business. That was replaced by Publix. Sorry I ranted lol
Another BANGER from Shelby! Those crooks and liars on CNBC can learn a thing or two from you!
Great suggestions, but I understood this was not financial advice. I learned if I want to save even more money that going to walmart is best value... Now why walmart can seem scary to some, it is the most interesting people watching I have ever seen. It will keep you grounded and worth the savings!
I am a NEW SUBSCRIBER!!😊
The nearest Trader Joe’s is about an hour away from us.
Aldi costs even less than Trader Joe's and owns Trader Joe's - like $0.55 avocados and $0.50 bread. :) Great video!
Aldi is the first place I go for groceries. They have the best prices
Very informative. Great job.
Blue cash preferred has 6% back on groceries. It has an annual fee but so worth it. Love the credit card education!!
Wow i havent heard of this one ill check it out!
You get 6% back on the first $6k of groceries. So $360 back just on that every year for a $99 fee. Good rewards on other stuff too. And they gave me no interest for a year on mine.
there's two blue cash cards! the blue cash everyday is only 3% but no annual fee, I have that one :)
Awesome video Shelby! I live in FL. Just paid $11 for 60 eggs at Walmart and though that was pretty good.
I’m getting 5.15% with Marcus 😊
This was so helpful Shelby ❤ I opened a high interest savings account today because of this video 🎉
The video we all needed! Thank you, Shelby!
Great video Shelby! You put in a lot of great work here and this is seriously useful🙏
If you have an Aldi's near you I would say I find reasonable food there as well. I get most of my produce at a Hispanic grocery store.
I haven't watched your video yet but girl...the food at PCC is high vibrational... Trader joes food is dead dead dead.. you can feel it! Shopping at PCCs is like health care.
I enjoy the shift of topic in this video.
What cc do you recommend?! I need to get a new one the one through my bank doesn’t have any points !
@@JayStephan that’s awesome !! Thanks so much for the recommendation and hope you have a good year traveling :)
Great video Shelby!!!!
Love how Cow is just passed out on the couch
Such a good video Shelby! You’re doing amazing :)
When I lived in NYC Trader Joe’s was a lot cheaper than everything else around. Now in the suburbs TJ”s is expensive compared to Aldi’s or target
Thank you for this, Shelby! ❤❤❤
Trader Joe's, Aldi, Costco, Target. All good for certain items. Surprisingly, Walmart doesn't represent the best deal in town anymore.
4.25% with Citizens Access HYSA!!!
As of right now I'm going to open a Sofi savings account!
I bonds have the advantage of not having to pay taxes on them until you sell. You have to view it as a 20 year investment, not a short term investment. If you live in a high income tax state they are better than they appear. Think of them as a something for your retirement 20+ years in the future.
Super interested in learning more about stocks and investing.
Love this video! Could you do a short video on how you got set up to buy voo? I would want to buy it through sofi since I’m about to get an acct there
Everything I see on the SoFi credit card says 2% cash back, not 3%. What am I missing here?
its an ad
I’d recommend also buying loss leader products. Some products such as milk or rotisserie chickens (at Costco) are sold at discounts so it’s better to buy them.
yes GREAT tip!
What’s a CSA?
As someone that is doing it alone I will tell you the best deals are at Costco. Yes you can shop at costco as a single. Freezing and keeping things fresh is so much easier than it used to be. TJ is definitely the way to go for certain specialty items. That said coastco works and per unit is way cheaper than TJ.
Oh and always love Cow 🐾 🐶. Besides my earlier great feedback, Cow deserved his own comment. He’s so cute.
In Iran we have 100% inflation every year.
Really?! That sucks!!
Amex blue will give you 6% back at grocery stores, that one helps.
really wanna save, shop aldi, i bet traders joes dont beat their prices
Love Trader Joe’s! I wish they had one in my city. In the meantime, we shop at Aldi and Save-a-Lot for most items.
German Aldi have different price for the same product 😳 and we have Lidl too,Kaufland is bigger with more items and Norma or penny.i think Euro is cheaper than Dollar you have more items with less money.
For certain things I shop at a local Asian supermarket. Huge shiitake mushrooms for $3 compared to $10 at whole foods
Yes! The mushrooms at Ranch 99 or at Zion (I hit both last weekend when I had an appointment nearby)! Such a great, fresh, selection and soooo inexpensive!
This is a great video! All of it adds up overtime. Keeping your money in an account with a high interest rate can make you up to 1,000 a year.
I have learned that skipping breakfast makes me much less sleepy. Highly recommend skipping breakfast.
I delay breakfast until noon. Also great is stop eating around 7:00 pm for a better night’s sleep.
The first thing you can do is vote that circus out of office
The SoFi bank recommendation is awesome! I'm going to open up an account with them right now!
Do you not have an Aldi near you 😅 waaaaaaay cheaper than any other store
one thing good about inflation is that the economy running well. Meaning unemployment is low. You cannot have high inflation and a recession together. That never happends in economics.
Shelby's acting is great as usual LOL
