Thanks for another wonderful video. I was in Portugal for 3 weeks this summer and oh how I miss it! Stayed in Nazare and visited Batalha, Tomar, Alcobaça...all places you've featured in your excellent videos. I was in Faro 3 years ago. We stayed right by Igreja do Carmo, which has the bone chapel. That part of town is quite run down but they've done a great job of rejuvenating the area down by the water. Hopefully the rest of the town will also get a facelift in the years to come. The beach looks awesome. I didn't even know they had one! Thanks again for helping me fight my saudade for Portugal. Take care : )

Olá Mandy & Lee 👋🏻 Lee, you always have more pep in your step when you get closer to the water, and you are a kid in a candy store once you get in! It’s charming! 2€ is amazing value! I love being on the water (Pisces ♓️ here)… I think would be the best part!… well, that and just sitting there watching, and listening, to the waves brush along the shore. When I was a child, back in the 60’s & early 70’s, when we’d summer in Cape Cod (Mass, USA), we’d get sandwiches & green apples 🍏 for our lunch and probably a thermos of water or lemonade (no bottled water back then). Such happy memories… digging in the sand, playing on the dunes and searching for sea creatures & pretty shells. I born and grew up in Azores... 17:47 The tax is 18 percent and Portugal tax is 21 percent. In my local town for the beer is only 80 cent to 1 euro. In America, 1.50 - 2.00 dollars ? No way. In Azores, Super Bock or Sagres taste great and for the bottle is only 80 cent to 1.00 euro and for glass of red wine is only 60 cent. Its perfect for retirement to live there. I like Azores more because of familiy and relative live there so I live there thanks to my retirement. Yes, I am over 50 years old and retirement already. Pease beware of Faro police brutality. My 17 year old son was beat up by the Faro police because they thought he was being verbally insulting after he had asked for help to recover his iphone. THe beat him, dragged hin\m to the ground with their needs and boots on his neck. When he asked what he did wrong while handcuffed in the patrol car, they punched him three times in his face. At the police station they dragged him to the bathroom ( no cameras) and viciously kicked him. One female police officer took particular pleasure kicking my 17 yo son. I reported the incident to the State Department and the US Embassy in Lisbon, as well as Agarve Daily News. Incident took place on 7/28/23. So tourists beware. The Farol police are criminally brutal.

I absolutely love my country and glad to be here. Its worth living off of my retirement. CHEAP CHEAP AND CHEAP! And happy to be here to see my family and relative and my old friends AGAIN!
Wow... It sounds like Azores is the perfect place to retire. That is very good value for money and we hear that it is a beautiful place to visit as well. We would definitely like to go there the next time we are in Portugal. I hear there are plenty of budget airlines flying there also. Sounds excellent! 👍
Thanks for the tip. 😁 ~ Lee
So yiu go from fato to faro or from Lisbon
We travelled from Evora to Faro. Our next video will show our journey from Faro to Lisbon and then Caldas da Rainha. 😊
What's the sea temperature 🌡️ that day ?
Good question. I didn't have a thermometer so can't say exactly but would take a guess at around 20C. A comfortable temperature for an Englishman. 😀
@@FrugalTravellers can you relax in the sea water or have to swim to overcome the coldness of the water?
@@AVTVA Coldness ? I use my wetsuit in the autumn.
Oh no, that sounds absolutely terrible!
