What baffles me about my people is dey hide from the truth . What has Sam smith got to do with our music outside working with koffee. Go to Montego Bay and you will see fish dem displaying their likeness openly and nobody troubles them . There is no law against fish in Jamaica… when Jamaica passes a law like that means the government and the people are serious. Nuff fish in the industry and under cover . Let people live their life as long as they don’t trouble you
You see how you got confused with the term Alone, yeah that's what I'm not trying to be. I don't support it I'll leave them alone. They leave me alone.
I don't see how Sam Smith disrespected Jamaican culture. I love the video it brings off cool vibes. U have under cover batty man a Jamaica. Leave Sam alone and mind u business. Jamaica have people a dead Fi hungry a that you fe talk bout.
Here is my "Drop a comment" from a white straight American woman. Let others be lighthearted and stop spreading negativity! by the way, there is no cultural denigration in the video with Smith, Koffee and Colombian/Canadian Jessie Reyez.
You are not white or Amorican. White is a legal status not pale/ black skin. If you are not decendants of the original Europeans( Moors ) you can't qualify for free white person status. Also America is a geographic landmass a continent not a country. You are a hybrid Albion a,u.s citizen not white Amorican or Al Moroccan aka American.
I fully agree with you saying no negativity ect. However being a BLACK JAMAICAN woman, until you understand our JAMAICAN culture, where our music is coming from and how it has got this far, then u should not speak on it. We are a small and VERY proud country. Our culture is what the world knows us for. We dnt need NO DUTTY lifestyle trying to step inna wi ting ... 🔥 fi dat.

Bro come on... there are way more important things to speak about than trying to be gatekeepers of culture or music. How has the culture affected the crime rate in Jamaica? What has the culture done for unemployment? Let people be.. we all have one live to live. No crime has been committed here... koffee had been making clean music throughout her career and that is what we need to appreciate.
Dude, stop wasting your time, you still have not convinced me that Sam smith disrespected Jamaican Dancehall. For one, Dancehall/ Reggae is global, I see people from all continents doing dancehall and no one is policing them. If you heard the music but you didn’t see the video, would you have the same problem with him? Here in Jamaica, the same dancehall artists are using their art disrespecting women, pushing crime and violence, and that my friend is having a more deleterious effect on our country than Sam Smith, let’s talk about that. This is a non issue as far as I am concerned.
So who are the organizers? The same dancehall artists doing more to kill the music than anything else. How much has dancehall grown with in the last 10 years? Which one of those dancehall artist can go to any stadium in North America and do sellout shows? Look at Reggaeton, and Afrobeats, both to some extent derivatives of reggae/ dancehall. Reggae/dancehall artist need to start looking in the mirror and evaluate the quality of their own art, and see where they have fallen short.

I agree, but the size of JA compared to the African countries is incomparable. If Sam Smith and similar artists provide a platform for Jamaican artists to generate bigger revenue globally than it's definitely a good thing.
