I have to say, I haven't played this mod before (but have heard a lot) and I think it is genuinely really interesting. I like the surreal feel that this has.
It's not too crazy, but there is the Water Margin(Historical-Fantasy Chinese novel) mod called 108 heroes. It has main quest involving your character having mind control powers(which let's you play as Lords who join your army).
