  • Dr. Joren Whitley is an animal chiropractor. He works on pretty much every animal. Through his chiropractic work he has helped many paralyzed dogs walk. He recently got asked to work on wild animals in South Africa, including realigning the backs of giraffes and even lions.

One of my cats was not the same after having major surgery earlier this year. He’s not yet 2 years old but he was creaking around like an old man kitty. He couldn’t/wouldn’t jump on to anything and he hobbled up and down steps with a sad gait. A friend of mine suggested chiropractic. After the first visit…my gosh what a huge improvement in his movement! He’s had a few more treatments since. Each time I see more and more of his spunk and sass coming back. So grateful for my friend’s suggestion and the availability of a great kitty/animal chiropractor.

You'd be surprised how many people are injured by them. They're *not* doctors! They haven't spent 7+ years learning to do the job. I'm not saying this guy is a charlatan, he seems to be genuine and at least he does research, but the moment he said he _could_ work on babies I shuddered. I hope to god he _doesn't_ work on kids!
Some quacks insist that their regular clients bring in their newborns (and why would they need one regularly? I'm talking as someone whose mobility is so laughable, I'm registered disabled and on a crap ton of meds. If I need help with new problems, I go see a registered, fully-trained physiotherapist. Surprising how often that helps. No chiropractor could fix my spine but my physio helps me strengthen my muscles and ligaments - _that_ helps). New babies, from SIX WEEKS old get that "neck cracking". Babies of that age barely even qualify as _having_ bones! They're as soft as cheese for the most part!
I saw it once on Miles Power's channel and I nearly threw up. I am _not_ weak stomached at all, but after that first yank on the head (that baby could have _died_ but this is common practice! And yes, some babies do get harmed, seriously), I couldn't watch it anymore.
For an animal, as an animal lover, I would want to try anything to help my dog. As a last resort, and _only_ after getting a lot of recommendations (one or more preferably from a vet), I would consider it. But if I believed that the guy down the road who calls himself a qualified chiropractor, could do more harm than good, I would do what is best by my dearest companion. I advocate for human voluntary euthanasia as someone who is going to want it in the next ten-twenty years, so I wouldn't keep a dog alive in worse than my pain. And I would need a *_lot_* of convincing that my dog could be helped by one of those people.
Again, I am not knocking this particular guy, just trying to warn people that not all chiropractors are equal, and not all are qualified. BE CAREFUL PLEASE! I don't want you to get hurt. And for god's sake, keep your kids, especially your babies, away from them!

To be fair, a lot of earlier medicine and science can be considered just as absurd: psychiatry used to consider “hysteria” a legitimate diagnosis before Freud came along, and a lot of medical “cures” in the Middle Ages was guesswork at best.
While chiropractic has been started by perhaps a loonier person, it doesn’t mean there isn’t medical uses or benefits to consider; someone else has already pointed out the benefits of being able correct bone issues through none-surgical means, especially among animals which typically suffer from bone… I don’t know how to spell it, but it’s basically when bones start moving out of place on the skeleton,

That dog was back to normal chasing after our other dog, going on walks it was an incredible transformation. Before we found our chiropractor the vet had discussed surgery but he wasn’t sure there would be any difference he had also discussed putting him down.
