You were trying to remember the 4th flight over Pennsylvania that was brought down by the passengers so it could not hit another target.

I was a shreveport police sergeant in Louisiana next to Barksdale Airforce base myself and my bicycle officers jumped into units and went to the west gate and watched Airforce one land heard Prez speech and watched plane take off.. we guarded the exterior of gate …Barksdale has B52 bombers nukes

A lot of the communications problems were due to the fact that much of it was operated through the antennae on top of one of the towers. When that tower collapsed, so did much of the nation's communications capabilities. I was in Texas that morning and had heard the reports of the attack on my radio.Tried to get to CNN, CBS or Fox News on the internet and could not reach any of them. I had thought, with the internet being as new as it was, it was just overwhelmed. Found out later it had been the antennas going down with the tower. I was in the process of moving out of state and had had my cable disconnected, so finally found an old portable TV with a pair of rabbit ears that would work in one corner of one bedroom in my house, where I pretty much lived the next three days watching the CBS affiliate, the only station I could pick up with my available set-up.

I can attest to the fact that the skies were quickly cleared. We were on a road trip vacation and there was not a plane to be seen in the air. There were, however, American flags flying everywhere. Then we passed the airport at Salt Lake City where there was a sign that really "hit home": Airport Closed. Wow.

At the 9/11 museum there is a video that shows different members of the government talking about that day and I remember Condoleeza Rice saying that when they heard about United 93 going down they thought for a short amount of time that the military had shot it down. Part of the reason that the Airforce couldn’t scramble as quickly is because there were several military exercises going on that day so a lot of the jets weren’t armed immediately. There is a video of the first 2 pilots who went after united 93 saying that they had to go up knowing they weren’t armed and if they were the first to the airliner it would have had to be a s*icide mission them because they would have had flown into the plane to stop it.

When all planes were immediately grounded, a co-worker was in Georgia about to go to the airport to fly back home to Kansas. With no planes flying for an unknown number of days, he tried to rent a car and drive home but those were already gone. After a lot of calls and searching, all he could get was a U-Haul moving truck so that’s what he drove all the way back home. A big, diesel truck rolling empty halfway across country but you do whatever you have to and spend as much as necessary in order to get back to family at times like these.

The reason the escort fighters didn’t arrive sooner could have been the amount of time. At first they weren’t sure exactly where AFO was going, and it’s 755 miles from Sarasota, FL to Barksdale AFB in Louisiana. Air Force One can fly as fast as 700 mph, so by the time fighters were scrambled and airborne Air Force One was already almost there. Also President Bush wanted fighters from the squadron he served in when he was a Navy pilot, which were based in Ellington TX, it’s 245 miles from Ellington to Barksdale. And yes AFO can do a midair refuel but if possible they try to refuel on land, especially if the President is aboard, just because there is a very small possibility an accident could happen.
They cleared the skies unbelievably quickly. My husband was supposed to fly home from the navy base at Port Aransas, TX and their plane was ready to taxi when the captain came on and said they were going to have to deplane because there was a nationwide ground stop. He wasn’t able to return home for five days.

@@janfitzgerald3615 they were so calm and just acted like it wasn’t that big of a deal in the interview I saw. I have always wondered if somehow Bin Laden knew about the military operations that day because it was very convenient for the attack. I don’t like to think about conspiracy theories but like I said it was a pretty convent day to attack when the fighters were somewhere else unarmed

@@Amandaarford83 normally military exercises aren’t public knowledge ahead of time, but it’s not unusual for all the branches to have periodic exercises to keep, skills sharp. I live in a neighborhood that has a large number of Navy families, other than the families themselves who aren’t going to say anything, we don’t know when one of the aircraft carriers or submarines is leaving for exercises or deployment until someone actually sees the ships leaving.

@@janfitzgerald3615 oh yeah I know it was probably just a very great coincidence for bin Laden it was just crazy it was a pretty large military exercise going on that day. I bet some changes were made regarding how many exercises are done at the same time etc after that day. I think definitely they learned what mistakes were made and helped improve on things. Like BP1 said that’s what the best of us do. We had never been attacked on our soil since Pearl Harbor and even then it wasn’t the contiguous US so I feel think we felt pretty safe because of our geographic location and that let us know we weren’t as safe as we thought.

Really a great informative video. I was working in a law office, in a Federal Building, when we received news of what had happened. There was quite a debate going on as to whether all Federal Buildings should be closed down. Increased Security protocols were immediately put into effect. The following hours were quite stressful and gut wrenching as attack after attack occurred. The loss of life we knew was going to be horrific and even if we could have left, where would you go? I never knew most of the info in this video. Great request Amanda A.. I really enjoy these informative videos that you guys do. (Like, comment and subscribe. It's a great channel...and it's free. 😁✌🤗) This PSA comment was not solicited. 😁😁 Love you guys.

It makes me angry that some members of the press decided having their photos and videos of Airforce one was more important than the protection of the president. Them showing videos of Airforce one landing at the different Airforce bases could have made him more vulnerable to attack

You hit the nail on the head about flight 93. As the video explained, there's no way to confirm the speculation about where it's destination was. Personally I believe it was headed to the White House.

No member of our military would ever take an order from the Vice President, unless the President is confirmed to be unable to place orders, for whatever reason. But, the fact that the President reaffirmed the order, still causes questions about what truly caused the crash of flight 93.

I thought I'd suggest a new band to give a listen, if interested. "The Tedeschi Trucks Band - Everybody's Talkin' (Live)" (by the channel: Tedeschi Trucks Band) --Tedeschi Trucks Band is an American blues rock, jam band from Jacksonville, Florida formed in 2010. The band is led by married couple Susan Tedeschi and Derek Trucks. I have been a fan of this band since their conception. However, I was also a fan of the previous band that Derek Trucks emerged from "The Allman Brothers Band. The Allman Brothers Band was one of the finest southern blues rock jam bands to ever come out of the south and they were also from Jacksonville, Florida. And if you're interested in hearing what they sound like then give this performance a listen. "The Allman Brothers Band - Jessica - 1/16/1982 - University of Florida Bandshell (Official)" (by the channel: Allman Brothers on MV) And as always, I enjoyed learning new/old stuff with you both. Thanks for sharing and we appreciate the hard work you two do to provide such wonderful content. Thanks for just being "you."
