- Indian River and Okeechobee counties are under a hurricane watch Tuesday as a major Category 4 Hurricane Milton churns toward Florida, where it's expected to make landfall along the west coast Wednesday night. Tropical storm watches are in effect for Palm Beach, Martin, and St. Lucie counties. According to the 5 a.m. advisory from the National Hurricane Center, an "extremely powerful" Milton is located just north of Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula and is slightly weaker with maximum sustained winds of 155 mph, moving east-northeast at 12 mph.
Unfortunately some of us don't have the luxury of leaving . We are struggling as it is cant pull funds where there is no funds. Praying for y'all. ❤ 🙏🏼

This is what I keep saying! Florida is expensive to live in and we are paycheck to paycheck. Can't leave. Don't have thousands to spend on hotels, gas, food, etc.

I think I know what you're saying. Due to very high traffic, constant traffic jams and no gas people ran out of gas and were left stranded on the highway. That is a nightmare to be stuck in the middle of a hurricane. They're out in the open, no shelter and having to walk miles to find a store for some protection. Overall it's better to stay home if you're in a flood zone or go somewhere not too far away that's higher elevation. No need to leave state and run any more risks

IF YOU LIVED DIRECTLY UNDER A SEMI-ACTIVE volcano.. you would be safer and it would be cheaper than living on the coast of Florida during hurricane season. That’s not even a joke. That’s an actual fact considering hurricanes occur yearly at this point in Florida and volcanic eruptions are a MUCH rarer event.

Pretty fiendish storm track in that Milton is following the same path a ship would to enter Tampa Bay -- from the Southest toward the Northeast. The only hope for Tampa -- although it would devastate areas further South -- would be to repeat what Ian did. It was on a similar path -- headed to Tampa Bay -- but turned right as it approached shore -- devastaing Ft Myers and nearby areas -- but sparing Tampa. In fact, one forecaster said that Milton could actually try to pull water OUT of Tampa Bay as it spins counter-clockwise -- if that were to happen.
