Hey everyone! In today’s video we talk a look at Theory of Everything 2, the last robtop level we’ll be reviewing on the channel! The next video will be covering online levels! 🙌
@@tessal6555 I actually kinda agree. It would give me motivation to play more RobTop levels with a great song, and harder levels in general, even though I just have 4 medium demons. Counterpoint though, like half of new players barely even pass Stereo Madness
Same could be said about Geometrical Dominator and Deadlocked. Considering how most user levels during 2.0 were… Rather questionable (2.1 is kinda where we got the hang of the whole moving objects stuff). Geometrical Dominator and Deadlocked were absolute gems during that time.
Aaand geometrical dominator uses rainbow blocks in a way that doesnt look terrible like most custom levels’ use of it. And despite what colon said, they are honestly not that bad for a non-themed level.
People already called it out, but i’m gonna say it too. And because geometrical dominator uses rainbow blocks and properly uses it, because most 2.0 levels that used rainbow block kinda just shat on their level with really bad placements of it.
bro thought we wouldnt notice the Tostarena theme from Mario Odyssey in the background Also ToE II was atrocious to me when I was a beginner, I then proceeded to fluke it from 17
This video would be much better if you explained WHY it's ahead of its time. Like why do these stated parts make it ahead of its time? I feel like you merely analyzed the parts without addressing this.
I think a lot of people have negative memories of dying at the 79% ship, so they don't revisit this level as often as Clubstep or Deadlocked. In my opinion, even as someone who's worst gamemode IS ship, it's not that hard of a part. Sure, I die to it more than the rest, but being a beginner with the level, it's akin to dying at the last wave in Acropolis I feel like lol
Before 2.1 theory of everything 2 was my favorite level of all time, the music, the gameplay, the atmosphere, is so good, I remember playing it many times back in 1.9. After 2.1 fingerdash became my new favorite 'till this day
When I was first trying to beat TOE 2, I didn't enjoy the 79% ship. I dropped the level for a bit and beat some easier levels. When I went back and eventually completed TOE 2, I had a lot of fun with the entire level. The 79% ship is one of my favorite parts. I enjoy tight ship gameplay, especially when it feels great to pull off. I personally don't understand the hate for the 79% ship part, but I find it really enjoyable.
7:30 my joke that i make about this is that rob top forgot to add a wave portal lmao. What i mean is that at the gravity portal, i feel like he could've placed a wave portal there, but then thought to himself "eh, i'll do it later" and then doesn't do it later.
A big critique I have to make is that the video is mostly a description of ToE 2 part by part. Coming into the video, I was expecting a little more argumentation towards why this level was so ahead of its time, but the only explanation in that regard was the very last sentence. You had me interested in the beginning, and I stuck through the entire time because I really like ToE 2, but the video in itself left me a little unsatisfied. You could have spent less time summarising what happens and more time giving your own opinion/take on the level.
@@Colours.Gaming I'd like to add another point. At several points you talk about how the level design is in conjunction with the flow of the music, but there isn't a single example where you show the level with its actual music piece, which makes it hard to comprehend for anyone who hasn't listened to the song in a while (if at all). That's a shame, because you made it sound like the music is a very important part for the level design, which in itself is related to the video title.
I think you shouldve prioritized explaining what fundamentals youre talking about, cause chances are most people watching this already know toe 2, so they dont really need a walkthrough of the level, they wanna know why you think it is ahead of its time
@@Colours.Gaming i forgot to answer but yea You brought up great points about progression and other things you said btw, its just that the delivery could have been a bit better
I have always said that ToE 2 is the beat level of GD. It really encompasses a lot of the game, (as it IS theory of everything lol). But more than just having a lot of the features seen in previous levels, it also provides and fun challenge that I think RobTop designed very well. It is definitely one of the most enjoyable demons I’ve played, and the fact the majority of the player base, which are just casual mobile players, can likely experience the level quite easily just through playing the game for a bit, is quite good. I still think the deco holds up as well. I have always said that 1.9 deco was the pinnacle of GD deco, as it really stayed true to the artstyle while still allowing things to look good and be sight readable. I do feel bad about saying it though, cause people like Spu7nix who are absolute gods of the level editor exist. Good for them honestly, let them enjoy what they love. Anyway, thanks for listening to my rant lol, these are just my thoughts.
At 2:39 when the video cuts back to the beginning of the UFO section, you can see the blue particles on the right, indicating that it is a 1x speed portal
i had a terrible experience first beating it bc of 4 95 deaths but after i rebeat it, it was actually really fun also colours good on cooking once again :3
i play on mobile and have always been absolutely dreadful at ship and yet i've never found the ship part in the late 70s difficult, toe2 is my favourite robtop level and i've beaten it probably dozens of times and yet i know i never died there when i first beat the level (or struggled with it while practicing beforehand), and i have no memory of dying there from 0 on any subsequent time playing, so i've never understood why this part of the level is so infamous, especially when clubstep and deadlocked both have WAY harder ship parts toward the end of them which don't seem to get regarded with nearly as much dread as this one little bump in toe2. just wrote this down as it's a thought i've had for years lol
This video in a nutshell: This level is ahead of its time because this part is cool. And this part is really cool. And this part is very cool. And it goes to the song Nice, thanks.
We need a ToE2 V2 (not neptunes.) Neptune makes most of his remakes wothin the same update, making it just a harder version of the original with no variety. We need a modern rendition of one of these levels. Some good examples are ToE 3 by masterthecube5 and ToE III by Manix648.
