When Herbie Hancock played his melody, I thought, "He's trolling! There's no melody in that!!" But it was clear that both him and Jacob can hear endless opportunities for paths and harmonies that far exceed what I can

In addition to Jacob's "WTF? Where did that come from?!" intro, what amazes me is how Jacob took a rather brooding and meandering melody and made it into something gorgeous that made melodic and harmonic sense. It was like a creative move in a friendly game of musical chess. Herbie says, "Check." Jacob smiles and replies, "Check. Mate." ;^D

Absolutely Brilliant Jacob. Wonderful use of the harmonic, rhythmic musical language and imagination, tastefully filling in gaps where required. I really love videos like these which inspire musical creativity showing what's possible with higher level harmonic knowledge and skill. I also love what this kind of thing is inspiring everyday people as well as other musicians to do (I heard quite a few excellent ideas from people on this video). I also love what you did with Herbie's wonderful test melody at the end (I could just imagine him rubbing his hands in anticipation and glee). I'll be definitely putting this video on my playlist and will be taking notes. Again excellent upload. God bless

Mechum22 My man! Appreciate the kind words a lot, it means heaps - and the same goes for anyone who's thrown a compliment my way, thank you 🙏 Feeling very humbled for real.
Gonna have to slyly take the opportunity to bring up your Vol. 1 outro too though! haha the funk that came about as a result is the kinda stuff that gets me up in the morning, keep doin your thing brotha ☺

Ethan Richmond Mos def, I appreciate it, sir! I don't know what's in store for you or what you aspire to do, but I definitely encourage you to keep creating as well! And yeah, that outro Jacob added completely blew me away! That kid is insane, hehe.
I love this whole project because it shows how fun and collaborative the creative process can be, and it demonstrates that it doesn't take expensive/elaborate bells and whistles to make something inspiring.

I'd love to know more about Jacob's process for harmonizing/accompanying these submissions.
I wonder, does Jacob have to listen over and over and play around with multiple ideas? Or does the idea come straight away? Does Jacob transcribe them? Which ones are hard, which ones are easy?
    So many questions.
