  • My thoughts on the first novel in Samuel Beckett's modernist trilogy, Molloy. If you've read this and have any thoughts, I would love to hear!

Thank you for these thoughtful reviews and recommendations. I love the fact that you got a lot of books from your grandpa. I have never read Beckett but I have avoided the nihilistic modernists but I might give it a try anyway based on your thoughts.

The novel (at least in my opinion) appears to deal with "authenticity" the character "Molloy" conforms to what is known as the "existential" attitude his story is one of disoriention, confusion and dread in the face of a meaningless and absurd world. Beyond this it's down to the reader to make his own interpretations and conclusions as to the meaning of Molloy?
