    Thank you, thank you, thank you Harry. Just put an Assist 7REX in my 62" Acruity. Your instructions made it a snap!

    I see it the same way. I am in my learning phase of flying a motor glider and the gyro safest my plane many times. I turn the gyro off, when I finally loose control I turn gyro on. Best training possibilities!

    I need to ask you a more specific question related to one we touched on earlier, so I'm going to give more information: I have a seven-servo airplane (with a four servo wing) that I had been flying successfully for the past four years with a Spectrum Receiver, seven JR 537 Standard Size Servos, and an 1100 mAh NiCad Battery pack. I never had any problems with the Spectrum Receiver, or flying the airplane, however, the Receiver was purchased in the 2008 timeframe and I believe in replacing my radio equipment at least every 15 years so I don't start having issues with it and maybe cause a crash. So I installed the Jeti REX7 Assist Receiver in place of the old Spectrum Receiver and now, of course, use a Jeti Transmitter. My question is this: Is there any rule of thumb I should use to know how much extra battery capacity I should have when I upgraded from the Spectrum Receiver to the Jeti Receiver? That's the only change I made to the airplane. I "guessed" that upping my Battery from the 1100 mAh NiCad pack to a 2000 mAh NiMh Battery Pack would be enough capacity, but that was only a guess. So far, for the past four months, I haven't had any issues with flying the airplane with the new receiver. BUT, I thought I should ask if there is a general rule-of-thumb answer as to exactly how much more current capacity is needed when upgrading an older, non Assist Receiver with a Jeti Assist Receiver. Thanks again for your help with my question.

      I am not aware of any rule of thumb for the increase ihn current when using a gyro.

    Hi Harry, I’m waiting for the ds16 mkii to be released and am then gonna pull the trigger after 30 years of Futaba! So a bit scary but looking forward to it, I might have a few q’s for you, hope you don’t mind, as no one in my club uses jeti. My 1st question is, can u fly jeti on the wrong model like Futaba or does it model match like SPEKTRUM.

      It model matches, but you can override it and make a mess....pay attention as always

    Good evening Harry - your videos are a life saver, thank you! Went through all assist episodes - clear and understood. I have one question however - once the Rx/gyro has been calibrated as demonstrate here in ep1 and assigned to a model - if that model has been deleted (to start from scratch as I have done … long wormy story) must one recalibrate? Kind regards, Jeff

      @cotswoldpilot  Рік тому

      You should do the assign controls again so that Assist knows the precise centres and travels for the new model.

    Hello Harry, I installed my first new Jeti Rex 7 Assist receiver in a test airplane for the past two months to make sure I have it set up correctly before I put it in my expensive Corsair. When installing it in my Corsair, I would like to make a couple of changes: I would like to get rid of the Mode function that use to couple my Ailerons to my Flaps in two different ways. Since the Corsair doesn't have Flaps I would think I can just eliminate the Flap Channels (they used separate servos) and the Mode function (un-assign that switch), but I thought I would see if this is OK vs. re-setting the whole receiver back to square one and starting all over again. I'm hoping I won't have to do that. Let me know if eliminating the Flap Channels and Mode switch is an OK idea. Thank you.

      I would never reuse a transmitter memory or Assist settings in another model. Always start new from the beginning. The number of times I have seen control problems because people copied another model......

    Question…is there a way to reverse the way the gyro moves the control surfaces? Thank you for all these videos they are great!

    • @cotswoldpilot
      @cotswoldpilot  Рік тому

      Only by mistake! If the gyro is moving servos the wrong way it is because you have chosen the wrong orientation in the setup. Not every possible orientation is allowed in the software so you must mount the Assist in one of the allowed orientations.

    Hi Harry. You mentioned in this video that you use assist even in your jets.
    Someone said at the field that you do not recommend assist in Jets because of acoustic Interference.
    Is this interference issues still true with current assist receivers/firmware updates?
    Thanks for your comment on this.

    • @cotswoldpilot
      @cotswoldpilot  Рік тому

      Only a small % of jets with Assist get acoustic interference but it is not as small a % as igyro or cortex so I prefer to fit igyro or cortex until jeti improves it.

    Hello and greeting for you....i want to ask here...if Rex12 set as slave to received pwm input from it's 12 input port...then send it to central box 400 to control servo...using E1 port and Rx1 port at central box...how to set that?...is it possible?

    Harry thanks for vid series... One question. You program a 3 position switch for the gyro plus a 2 position assist enable/disable. Is the 3 way absolutely required. Or can I just use a 2 way for enable/disable gyro?

    • @cotswoldpilot
      @cotswoldpilot  2 роки тому

      I only use the 2 position on/off, and fly permanently in damping mode or my auto damping/hold mode

    Harry, how do you deal with the ‘jet noise’ interference that these receivers are so sensitive to?

    • @cotswoldpilot
      @cotswoldpilot  4 роки тому

      Sadly, you cannot :( It will need an upgrade by Jeti. All brands suffer this problem, some more than others, even powerbox igyro very rarely, but all brands are liable to get it. Bavarian Demon used to sell tuned acoustic hoods for their gyros to keep the noise out but stopped after a major upgrade to their gyros. It is not as simple as just putting any old bit of foam around the gyro/receiver, it needs to stop the specific range of very high frequencies that cause the problem.

    I’ve been flying with jeti assist in BVM L-39, fei bao velox, fei bao panther, and fei bao swordfish. Never had any issues with interference with turbine EXCEPT for the swordfish. I did have receiver about 10” from turbine and did get some unwanted oscillation during a flight. Turned off assist. Relocated receiver further away and didn’t have any issues since then. Been flying turbines with these receivers for over a year now. So I don’t know if they fixed the problem with update or I just am lucky and haven’t had any problems.

    • @cotswoldpilot
      @cotswoldpilot  3 роки тому

      Just lucky. As of March 2021 I am still being told by users that they are experiencing acoustic interference

      @@cotswoldpilot hi any update on assist receivers working with turbines?? and is it true if it reboots in flight it won’t reconnect because it’s not stationary??
      Best regards

    • @cotswoldpilot
      @cotswoldpilot  Рік тому

      @@notbadgerbutrich all MEMS gyros get acoustic interference, including Powerbox igyro and Bavarian Demons. Assist seems to have more reports of it than igyro and BD. If an Assist reboots due to temporary power failure, it will only let you get back control the servos if it rebooted whilst near level. Jeti has been told of our unhappiness with these issues but I have no insight into when, if ever, they will be fixed.
