Class of 1984 (1982) - Revenge Film Review
Вставка

- Perry King (Mandingo), Roddy McDowall (Planet of the Apes), and Timothy Van Patten star in this Mark Lester tale of revenge. It's a teacher vs. a gang of punks and it's great!

@XploitationRR You made a terrible video! I had to get high to forget it so you GET NOTHING!! YOU LOSE!! GOOD DAY SIR!!
When that 1980's movie came out for
the first time on DVD in Finland 🇫🇮 in 2006,
i rented it immediately on one Saturday morning.
Me and some of my friends saw it that Saturday night, and it was a tough movie.
Who also remembers the other 1980's movie, PRINCIPAL - starring James Belushi and Louis Gossett Jr.?
I don't think I've seen Principal -- is it good?
@@XploitationRR
I saw it once, and as i remember correctly,
it was pretty cool.
@@XploitationRR pretty good. another few would be the Substitute with Tom Berenger.
should do a review of the sequel, Class of 1999. Pam Grier, Stacy Keach, Malcolm McDowel directed by Mark Lester too
I went to public schools in Detroit and was graduated from high school in 1982; things weren't quite *this* bad - yet.
I'm subbed and turned on notifications too
Thanks!
@@XploitationRR have been for awhile just never comment 😆
Dude!
Awesome DALE GRIBBLE (KING OF THE HILL) profile pic 😹😺👍.
I like to watch this as a double feature with The Boys Next Door!
Last week i picked up a dvd of the boys next door from a garage sale for 70 cents, pristine order too
I think this may be the ONLY Michael J. Fox movie that may make it on your channel 😂
This movie is absolutely FANTASTIC. I absolutely love this movie and honestly gets better as I watch it more times.
I enjoyed hearing your thoughts on this one!
I love a lot of what Michael J Fox has done, but you're probably right. This will be his only appearance on the channel :)
Thanks for stopping by, man!
I immediately thought of Fight Club also😂
ZOMG, how inhuman to destroy that beautiful car at 5:41? That is *nasty*!
I remember seeing this in video rental when I was a teen in the 80s. I never got to seeing it. I saw Class of 1999 though.
This one is more on the realistic side. Not one android here.
This movie is pretty hard to get in NZ and a few weeks ago i was at my friends and i found Class of 1984 in her small collection, she had no clue how she came across it and gave it to me!
Nice! Here in Germany this one is hard to find uncensored, but there's is one special edition release that has the full film. Which is the release I have. Took a while to find. Germany is also annoying with that stuff.
my high school was really like this. in real life.. riots robberys shootings the works. jamaica hs nyc clss of 82... we didnt have a principal they kept quiting. never did get one.
Crazy. My high school was pretty chill. There was a fight in the cafeteria once, which even involved some teachers, but it was all over pretty quickly.
"Roddy McDowell. You might know him from Fright Night or Planet of the Apes." No. I know him from Caligula. ;)
Dirty :)
Cool review/channel. Subbed. Love 'Class of 1984' and the soundtrack - even Alice Cooper's 'I Am the Future' ; ) But especially Teenage Head's 'Ain't Got No Sense' and 'Little Boxes'.
Thanks!
First time viewer, I shan't be back.
No worries. I shan't miss you.
I had to comment on this one, cuz I absolutely adore this film lol, we agree, I got satisfaction watching Mr Norris "Teacher Teacher " take out the squad 1 by 1, only thing come close is Mr Miyagi taking out cobra Kai, and then training Daniel to do the same in the climax!! 😂 we however disagree with the opening song, I thought Alice Cooper bodied that track!! Lol
Musically I'm lactose intolerant -- I can't handle the cheese 😁
Ah yes :D This film! I need to rewatch it. Very cool little movie!
You may recall Roddy McDowell from, well, everything that was made in the 70s!
I watched this movie since 1982 when i was 12yo,..until now never get bored man.. Timothy van pateen is good actor.. And Alice cooper soundtrack im the future,..i disgree you say nasty in minute 5.39..ok good luck on you👌👍
SO this is like Straw Dogs meets Dangerous Minds?
I suppose that's not a bad way to put it :)
When Thorn EMI dished out the Pre-Cert tape in the mid-1980s, I wanted to see what all the fuss was about. All I know was that the BBFC went to town with cutting the film down like a tree surgeon, taking his high-powered chainsaw to an oak tree and carving out the words butchered to buggery. Well, Class of 84 wasn't too bad. It's an earnest and rather silly film. McDowall is pretty effective, but the director certainly goes to town with the prophetic notion that all schools in the future will be a fighting ground of perpetual school warfare. Mind you, these days in Britain, schools now have so much fencing, security cameras and inner fencing, that you'd be forgiven into thinking that gang warfare was a constant pursuit amongst the pupils of every Primary and Secondary school in the UK. For me, the film has some interesting takes, but I'm never really convinced by the straight faced narrative of the film. Is the film as prophetic as Lester described in past interviews? Still, the film has a desired effect. Enough to instill a sense of partial satisfaction. Would Eric Blair agree. Time to sniff the glue, have some white stuff and head for a brutal brawl in Class 2B...head chopping is NOT an option.
Rod(dy) bless you and Rod bless the United States of American. 10/10 fricheks
Shortly after this movie Michael J Fox’s career will skyrocket thanks to Back To The Future.
He was a pretty big deal before Back to the Future because of the sitcom Family Ties.
@@XploitationRR Yep
I've watched enough of your videos to know when "Well that's enough out of me, now lets talk some highlights" is coming. That's too many times.
Should I change my format to trip you up?
Hey Rob, speaking of violence, have you reviewed "Hobo with a Shotgun" yet?
Yeah, back in the early days of the channel. I unlisted a lot of those early vids. I'll probably do them again at some point.
@@XploitationRR Thanks!
I gotta disagree here I am the future rocks 😂
If you say so 🙃
I love this movie. The gang are so unbelievable but the teacher was such a knob, I ended up on their side.
I guess he did have certain nob-like qualities -- i thought he was mostly reasonable though.
@@XploitationRR oh he was definitely in the right. It was just his face and beard that annoyed me. 😂
I would like to believe we know Roddy McDowell from being Roddy McDowell. The idea that we need to explain who McDowell was makes me feel old.
Side note: Have you read Charles Band's autobiography? It seems like your kind of book. There's an interesting part about how McDowell was (unfairly) black-balled for snitching on a Hollywood insider film trading club.
Violence is school movies had been around for a while, although Hayes Code Hollywood wasn't a great place for them to be made. Blackboard Jungle in 1955 was based on true experiences.
The films I think of that are most similar are:
The Principal (1987): If Lester was asked to make the movie more like Commando, this is what you would get. (Even has Rae Dawn Chong). I know I've seen this movie and nothing ever stuck to me about it.
The Substitute (1996): Class of 1984 plus Taken. It's mid 1990's action. The director, Robert Mandel, has bounced from TV-Movie to lower end features. Style wise comparable to a better Mandel film, F/X. The director had also just made School Ties, which is really weird in retrospect. 3 Treat Williams Sequels.
One Eight Seven (1997): The late 1990's thriller version. There are some things I really love about this movie. There's a nightmare quality to the film. The Deerhunter ending is great. But unfortunately there's still something missing.
And of course, in 14 years Lester will replace you with killer robot exploitation film reviewers in order to teach those exploitation films a lesson.
In an interview on the DVD Lester talks a bit about the old high school movies that inspired this one -- he mentioned Blackboad Jungle.
No, i haven't read Band's book -- but you're right, that is my kind of thing :) I'll check it out.
This film was shot in Seattle when I was a senior in high school. They used Lincoln High School, which had just been closed due to the dwindling number of students as the boomers aged out. Most of Lincoln's students were transferred to my school (Roosevelt) and boy did they get teased. While my school had its share of drug dealing, most of the violence was carried out by the teachers and administrators.
I've never viewed this movie.
Thanks for the video!
Yeah, what he says - subscribe!
MJF still has his baby fat 😆
I have a copy of this one. Not a bad ne. Only ppther thing theat I thought could have been added was kidnapping his wife and turning her into a prostitute, maybe that would be too dark.
That "I am the Future" song by Alice is definitely pure cheese. His early '80s output was ... not great. You'd think they would've gone with "School's Out" for this movie.
"School's Out" was probably way too expensive.
This looks like it's worth checking out. Thanks again for another top notch review mr Rob!
