I was so excited to see your video pop up this morning! I know you’re so anxious to get that she-shed completed and begin the decorating process. We have moved this summer during this awful heat. Our daughter is unwell (suspected multiple sclerosis), so my husband and I have left our forever home and moved 2 and a half hours to be near her family and help them. It’s a very big adjustment. I could go on and on about all the changes that I don’t really like, but I’m like you. I know that this is my temporary home, and I know that the most important things in this world are people and relationships. Being with our daughter, and helping her with her 8 and 9 year olds, so her husband can continue his teaching career is the most important right now. So, looking a little like the Clampets, we packed up all of our worldly possessions and moved to central Arkansas. It is much too hot to unpack but, hopefully, we’ll have it all done in a few weeks. Anyway, it was wonderful seeing you this morning. Thank you for listening to me go on and on.
Paula, your heart is to help your children, even when it is not easy. God sees this and I know He will help you and give you strength. I'm sorry to hear of your daughter's diagnosis. I'm sure she must be so grateful for your support. My family's help makes all the difference for me when I am going through a tough flare. I'm praying her symptoms will be manageable, and that her quality of life will be good. Even better, I will also pray that God would heal her entirely. I have been healed of more than one disease, and I know He can do it. I'd love it if He took ALL my health issues away, but until he does, I do trust Him.
So happy to see you today😀 yes the heat has been awful in Missouri but thank the Lord we had a reprieve... Have to appreciate the heat because winter winds are coming...have a good day😀🐦
Miss you Marla and hope all is ok. Take care of yourself and your family. I am rewatching old posts to help your algorithm. We will all be here whenever your situation allows you to visit again. Take care ❤
Forgot to tell you the Eastbrook antique Mall the very back of the store against the wall more to the left there is a whole section of old pots and pans double boilers and utensils and like the utility type utensil like crank whisk. So many neat things stuff you'll see and be like oh I forgot that even existed type things, you know with the wooden handles, just awesome . If you ever want to come I got my comments where it'll notify me and we'll get together and go because I know all the good spots.
Ann, you're not going to believe this, but my daughter lived on Brevard Street, about one block from that Eastbrook antique mall! We did go there when I visited. We always had the twins with us (they were 6mo - 18 months old) so it was harder to thrift but we still did it every time I came. We don't go in that direction any more but if I ever do, I'll have to let you give me a tour!
Yes the heat has slowed everything down this summer. But one of my favorite sayings is "This too shall pass.". We will have deliciously cool days soon and you will be able to putter around in Pinewood Keep to your heart's desire. I love going thrifting with you and guessing what you will come home with! My husband and I celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary this past weekend by renewing our vows in the sight of God and our immediate family and a few very close friends. A sweet simple ceremony with music provided by our children and grandchildren. As I looked around in church and latter at the dinner, I thanked God for the blessings that 50 years of choosing love every day brought to us. Thanks for always reminding us what is most important Marla! Stay cool!
Aww, 50 years!! Congratulations for that accomplishment 👏 ✨️ I dream of spending time out there. We are now having temps in the 80s, which is better. Almost bearable! I want so much to film out there. I'm spending a lot of time helping with grandkids and our elderly parents, and that has to take priority for now. But seasons do change! 🙌 😊
Marla, thanks for another enjoyable video. I agree that material “things” should not be of importance. I struggle trying to understand how a home so packed full of “things” that family cannot comfortably enjoy one another reflects that message.
Going through the months of transition after making room for my daughter's family to move in with us has proven to me that the more possessions in your home, the more you risk having the possessions running the show! I have let go of a few truckloads of things (furniture, craft supplies, decor, etc) and it has been a good thing. We have begun moving things into our shed, even though it isn't finished on the inside, just so we can have our living room back. It's been a staging area for things destined for my she shed, and while that's been going on, my heart has been made so much more empathetic toward those who struggle with hoarding. It's a mentally crippling condition. I really try to stick to my personal rule of "of one bag comes in, then 1 bag goes out." Helps keep it in balance 😊
Marla, reading your response makes me so happy for you. You clearly are a wonderful daughter, wife, mother and grandmother. Your UA-cam channel is a witness to your beliefs and values. God bless
I live about 25 minutes from Montgomery and tallassee which I think you said your husband went to Auburn I'm in the middle point between Auburn and Montgomery. But if you go back to Montgomery go in the Eastbrook antique Mall it is awesome I've been to every thrift Goodwill salvation type store and the Tri-County area and I love that store. Now in Auburn Opelika the straight away is what I call it across from the Auburn Mall the four lane there's four or five and there's one small one called the mission center on the other side of the mall every one of them are cheap I'm talking cheap. The salvation army which is considered in Auburn near the mall also Thursday Friday Saturday everything in the store is $1.
We lived at Auburn our first two years of marriage, while Ben finished his degree, and I worked full time as a manager at the Opelika Auburn News. It was a special time there, 1988-1990. I didn't know about the Salvation Army there, or any thrift stores, but it would have been great, as we were broke most of the time 😄 I didn't really start thrifting seriously until we lived in Ft. Walton Beach near Eglin Air Force base. The thrift stores there were AMAZING. The military families usually donated everything when they moved, because they were given an allotment to buy new stuff at their next duty, rather than ship it. I learned to thrift everything there!
I am not sure why thrift stores are some peoples happy place and some people don't understand it, I don't even care if I buy anything, because it just makes me happy....
I think the excitement of the treasure hunt distracts me from my body pain, and that alone is worth the effort of visiting a thrift store. Sometimes I walk out with nothing at all, but the time spent was good therapy. I get you! I'm the same 💕
We kayak the Hiwassee, and Cleveland is where I thrift when we are in Benton/Reliance area. That's about 3 hours from our home in Albertville (north Alabama).
Good Grief on the prices! Our goodwill here thinks it sells gold....I just can't afford them anymore....Many times I have found items from Walmart or Biglots priced higher at Goodwill than it was originally priced. I really think they are out of touch with the prices. I can't imagine who would have bought those chairs at that price!
Just now seeing this comment, Terri! YES, I've said God is the ultimate crafter/creator, and that's where I get my deep inner need to create. I hope God lets me design flowers in heaven, and lets me have my very own Hobby Lobby store 😄 🤣 😂
Inflation affects everything, but it does seem a bit too much at Goodwill! We expect super low prices there and it's mind-blowing to see items double the price from a year or so ago! 🙀
😄 Your name appears as Ann-co9bb here so I did think you were a female! But that reminds me, on Facebook years ago, I managed our church radio station's Facebook page. I'd post graphics that I designed for the radio, for various events and special broadcasts. I noticed one particular person was commenting a lot, and it seemed a bit too familiar, too friendly and borderline flirty. The name was initials and generic sounding, pic was of something patriotic, so I thought it was a man. It kept on and on until I mentioned it to one of our DJ's at the station. She burst out laughing, and said "oh my word, THAT'S MY MOM!!" 😆 🤣 😂 We all had a big laugh over it, including her mom who turned out to be a great friend to me ❤️

Hey Marla ! Good to see you. 😀
Thanks so much! 😊 💕
I’m new to you channel and I enjoy your content, thanks for sharing…
So happy to meet you, Patty! 👋😃
Glad you're enjoying watching!
For the gnats...we make a small dish of vinegar and dawn dish soap. They are attracted to it and will die!!!
Oh I will have to do that! I feel like I might have tried just the dish soap but not with vinegar added. Thanks! 😃

I've missed seeing you!
Thanks! I'm outrageously busy! Hoping to share more videos as the fall approaches 😊
I have an adding machine. I want a typewriter. We had 2 when I was little that were antiques then. 😝♥️🌻
If I see one for about $10, I might take it home 😄 but I'm not paying $100+ !! I am patient 😌 💕

Oh me. We usually get whatever happens west of us in a few days. I'm praying for fall to arrive! 🍂
My first boy always wore cute hats. My second would not were them.

Welcome to my world at the Karma here in Knoxville tn. They think we all are resellers.
It's understandable to raise prices a certain amount, just not triple the prices please 🙏 😏
God must be crafty because he wanys to see the potential in all if us. 🎉

What’s up with the Goodwill prices? You can’t count on them anymore, but we can always count on our Lord.

Amen! Praise Him 👏🏽👏🏽🙏🏽💜
I could not find my comment to edit it so this is my third message sorry but I am a female of course and I'm almost 60 come July.
