- Опубліковано 7 лют 2025
- Once again return to the Far Arctic winter normal in my Self built Ford Transit Camper Van, Another winter season of Snow Camping in Extreme Winter Vanlife and seeing how warm my Chinese diesel heater. But first to get to the Nordic Winter in my Rear wheel Drive home on wheels I need to drive 2000 miles north in Central Europe to get to Sweden and find the first snow to camp it.
On route I bump into a few of my Van friends

I do remember that we used to have fuel 'clickers' on the pumps in the 80s, I never worked out why they got rid of them.
I think generally the British public couldn’t be trusted with them unfortunately!
You are a bloody machine ! 😎
The van did most of the van 😊
Great content.
Thank you :)
How wonderful those images❤
Thank you
Yay, it's here!
Indeed it is
You make me wanna be nerdy with you! The fancy lights looks banging! Lets fucking go!!!!!! Nordic Adventure time!

Glad you enjoy the videos!
The brown Poncho with a fur trim on the hood?

Thank you very much for joining. I’m getting there it’s growing slow.
Good start -16 in Poland was my limit so looking forward to your -40
Hopefully we can fit the target but overall I’m just here for the fun!
Looking forward to new interesting but misspelled adventures in the cold sparkling north!
And more misspelling to come!
With the diesel nozzle Alex, get a small hand brush and jam it in the trigger.. Problem solved for UK pumps :)
Good point. Less of an issue in the as it’s not -20 outside 😂
@@MispronouncedAdventures Give it time buddy. Stay safe
Great video Mr A... Looking forward to more travels.. Misspelled or otherwise.. Love to see you blag a night in the icehotel this time..
Thank you! I will try!
WoW if this trip is anything like the last one! Looking forward to your Tech info updates!
Glad to hear and lots of tech fun to come as well
Great drive, like you we always got late ferry had breakfast and would shot a cross Europe. As we did it regularly it became a competition to see I could get to Budapest quickest. We used to stop half in a road stop hotel the we got it down come back to the uk is 22hrs non stop. Crazy what home does for you, also drove to Ukraine a few times but we were just in vito combi van.
Look forward to your trip drive safe.
Richard
Yeah definitely means you can clock up some quick mile across Europe!
safe trip ..
Thank you, I hope so
Awesome, been looking forward to this trip, Ok tea bags are more important than jump leads👍😉
Thank you so am I! And sorry again about that leads
@@MispronouncedAdventures No worries, will just talk about you in May😉🤣
Stay safe and no sideways broadsides this time😏 Entertaining as it was😆👍
Van look's very cool ( winter lights display) have a great time with your adventure and keep safe,
Looking forward to the next episode 👍👍👍👍
Cheers! I look forward too editing episode 2
Great to see the bearded wanderer back in his natural habitat!
I like that you slipstream trucks. I do that all the time on the motorway; it certainly does wonders for your MPG!
Have a great trip! 🚐☃️
Great to be back.
As for trucks, I had always known it was a think but next tried it look distance. Massive difference
Good luck, Alex, with your new exciting adventure.
Thank you, I can’t wait
your videos are very soothing to watch. it might just be the hum of transit noise but i seem to enter a state of calm
Thank you. Maybe its the Transit, I definitely a relaxing van to drive
Very nice video. Looking forward to the quest for -40c. See you somewhere North.
See you up north!
I hate driving full stop..
Drove from Derbyshire to Portsmouth at weekend and back..Just too stressful for me..Great video. 💯👍
I find trying in Europe way less stressful than the uk!
To much traffic and fools on the rd in the uk now
Nice one, Alex. very keen to watch this in prep for our trip, with less snow of course lol.
Cheers guys hope it helps!
Great video loving the lights
Thank you! I do love auxiliary lighting!
I followed you last year. Can't wait for more adventures! Love lost in Europe! Be safe!
Thank you for following again :)
@@MispronouncedAdventures yvw! Btw...I love lost in Europe also
They are lovely people
I was on the Oresund at the end of last week,Jan 13th,I did go via Puttgarden-Rodby as was delivering in Malmo, had to clear customs first which is literally 2 mins once through the Oresund Toll, come off for Limhamn.
I then came back to Copenhagen and parked up for the night, surprisingly it was around 8-9 degrees,no snow but wet.
A cracking vlog as always Alex, safe travels and have a great time👍👍
Yeah, it’s all been surprisingly warm so far!
@@MispronouncedAdventures yeah, but there’s a lot more snow up your way,to be expected that far north…!!
I missed all the snow as came back from Copenhagen to load in Desslau on Wednesday, got a bit colder but then delivered in a wet Moordrecht and back to the UK where we’d had some snow home here on the edge of Dartmoor beginning of the week just gone, hardly anything really and is now starting to thaw as we’re up to 6 degrees..whoop whoop😉🤣🤣
Been looking forward to this series, be safe on those roads dude 🤞👊👍
Thank you Luke and hopefully so
Enjoyed that. You have a cracking setup with that van. Safe journey and enjoy yourself 👍
Thank you for watching, glad you like my set up
amazing mate looks great there !
Thank you! I love it up here!
Great first video of the trip👌🏼 I often follow lorries too to get the slipstream, it really does help with the mpg!
I don’t suppose you have a link to that head up display do you? Or a brand? I have a scangauge in my van but much prefer the display on the one you have.
Safe travels mate, can’t wait to see more 👍🏼👍🏼
The display is a “KW206” I used eBay as it was way cheaper than Amazon’s
Nice going, bloody hell I would be knackered driving all that time on that much sleep.
Hoping to that that journey on up that way summer/autumn some time on too Finland, where my sister lives.
Good going van is looking smart ✊.
I was knackered the days following! But I had deadline to me. I was pretty ok with the driving it self.
Enjoy your trip up here!
Brilliant video! Glad your back in snow. I hope to go this time next year
Thank you! Lots more to come
Great video, have fun and drive safe, we are on ferry from Portsmouth to Caen next Tuesday and we are making our way south slowly through France and down to the Med for 6 or 7 weeks hope to see some sun 😀
Thank you watching! Seems you have picked the sensible idea heading south for the sun!
Looking forward to following you on another Nordic adventure Alex.
Thank you! I look forward to making it
Brilliant one Alex. You definitely were hitting the miles, sorry kilometres bud. Look forward to watching this New Adventure. Fabulous as always. Bring on Scandinavia. Safe Travels Alex 🙏
Thank you and I loving the adventure so far!
Been waiting for this series for a while. Looking forward to the rest of it!
Thank you mate!
Fantastic video again Alex
I don't think I could do all that driving in one go lol
Keep the videos coming great adventure as always 👍👍
I just need to get up north fast for a few reasons. You could spent weeks enjoying all the other areas along the way
You can use a pin in the handle of UK diesel pumps so you don't have to hold the trigger. When you're back look at the back part of the handle, you will see the holes and the clip you move on the trigger.
Yeah I did see they the uk is the same pump unit just with the Pins removed. I didn’t know you could just use a pin! But I do have less of a need for it in uk, it’s not -20c outside
@@MispronouncedAdventures I getcha
Great first video Alex. Really looking forward to see how you and the tech get on during this trip. Have fun and stay safe.
Thank you. Hopefully gets better from now on! Everything working so far
Cheers from sundsvall, sweden
Thank you!
Nice to see ya back up there, looking like you're enjoying yourself again! Even if it was mostly driving xD
Yeah unfortunately the first video had to be mostly driving to get up there!
@@MispronouncedAdventures not complaining! It's the reality of the trip & you managed to make what was probably a mind numbingly boring (IRL) drive into an entertaining package. Keep it up mang!
I reached southern Spain last Friday in 20C warmth, but I get what you're doing in that extreme cold. I get it. Well done,
Most of my van friends have headed south for the warmth! Just me the lunatic going north for the cold
Welcome back to Sweden! As it appears, you have driven quite a bit on road E4, at least at the time of the accident where you clearly recognize the High Coast Bridge. If you passed there on January 10, I can inform you that it did not go well for the car driver, he died on the spot and the passenger has serious injuries. The incident is being investigated as negligence in traffic and involuntary manslaughter. If you drove E4 or E16 past Gävle, you were only a few kilometers (or a few hundred meters if you drove E16) where my van lives. But at that time I was still in Spain. But now I'm at home, so if you pass by another time, please let me know for maybe a quick stop. I will gladly catch up on your videos, especially fun and interesting when you are in Sweden.
I did indeed drive a lot of the E4, unfortunately I was told by a few others in the comments and on instagram that unfortunately the driver didn’t make it.
I am all over the north at the moment
Passports are NFC. Looking forward to the series.
Yeah they are. But I had never seen just a phone used as the reader before. Hope you enjoy the new series
Hey hey dude! Be safe. Let us know if you need any parts shipped out to you for your trip! 👍
Will do guys! Thank you for the offer
Great video! The lights on your van are awesome!! I don't alway comment, but I do enjoy following your adventures! My best to Ash and Marie. Bringing tea as a gift is incredibly British, but to be fair, so are they🤣🚚
Thank you for watching, no need to comment every time :)
Definitely very British dropping off tea.
Karasjok or Kautokeino would be places to seek out for potential frost records, in the coldest part of the year. Other than that, it'd have to be inland Finland or deep sibir, which is kinda hard to get to for some reason.
I’ll have too look up those locations for next winter!
Great video Alex and an amazing amount of distance covered already. We are heading off to Sweden and Norway in a week or so in our Hymer B544 how far we get will depend on the roads and weather. We look forward to watching your further adventures.
Only seeing this comment now hopefully you set off on your journey and have a great time up there!
Very enjoyable and entertaining Alex. The driving shots of the dark nights and snow covered landscape is so eerie. Great light setup you have to improve visibility! Can’t wait for the rest of the series. Well done you!
Good lighting up here is so important
Wicked.. thanks for sharing…… how close do you have to be …do you reckon to the HGV to save on juice? Cheers
Closer the better but more or less following behind within reason and a safe stopping distance. I almost caught an extra hundred miles out of my tank.
Cracking video. Curious to know your average MPG and total fuel cost for the journey vs mileage if you're able to share.
Also, at what point do you put chains in the tyres? that track at the end looked almost worthy.
and don't forget your vitamin D tablets!
Thank you.
Uk I average 23.6 to 25.6 mpg. On the drive out I got up to 29.2 mpg behind a lorries.
Last year was about 6000 or 7000 miles ( can’t remember the figure ) but was about £3000 and £2400 of that was fuel.
As for chains no need on stuff like that, I probably wouldn’t want it hill start on it but loads of grip
Hi Alex 😊 good to see you back in the North. Question what kind of a sticker was this ? There's a lot of snow in Norge right now. Do you've a cover for your cooler?Save travels Stefan/Germany🇩🇪
Stickers as in on the lights? It’s a light defector, stops blinding European drivers, because UK lights project differently. I do have a grille cover which I have been using on this trip.
@@MispronouncedAdventures yes, Sir Thank you for the explanation, didn't know this. Cover will help a lot. Alex after 20 jears in Norway I move back to Germany and I miss the nature so much. Did same trips mother nature has such a special and strong energy in this conditions.
I’m wondering if wood pellet heating is viable in such a vehicle. Unlike a traditional wood stove, they control themselves, almost always have a connection for an external combustion air feed, and they don’t need huge clearances. Possibly quieter too?
Those wood pellet heaters are great but I’ve never seen one in a vehicle format.
@@MispronouncedAdventures I suspect one of the camper market suppliers like Truma has it on their radar.
A small, light one that also heats water would be a game-changer for the camper market, especially if it had oven-style insulation so that it could slot in next to (or under) other furniture.
New subby from adz channel !
Thank you very much! Enjoy the series! There’ll be a few videos later on when I am with Adz
@MispronouncedAdventures top man, loving it, watching to guys living out my own dreams, keep it up dude. Much love.
👍

@@MispronouncedAdventures ✌️
Hi Alex I had a look on your Amazon storefront for the OBD dash display you shoed in the video , but not listed , do you have a link to it ? looks a lot nicer than the one I have now , thanks
Hey, it’s a “kw206” is didn’t list on my Amazon in the end as the Amazon price is a rip off! It’s almost 3 time the eBay price
@@MispronouncedAdventures thanks I will check Ebay .
Unfortunately the driver in the car did not survive. Have a safe trip mate
Unfortunately I did also see that. one of my Swedish Friends messages me about it. Such a shame
Maybe sounds like a silly question but here goes - "half four" is that 3.30 or 4.30?
Not silly at all “half four” would be 30 minutes past 4
And in Swedish, halv fyra (half four) would be 3.30 🤔😀
In Deutschland ist es dasselbe wie in Schweden. Halb Vier = 15.30 it's odd. 🤪🚚
How much better is your fuel economy behind the truck?
Normal around 25.6mpg down to 23mpg. By end of these two mad driving days I was 29.1mpg
@@MispronouncedAdventures Well worth doing so! Thanks for the reply. Loving the videos!
Hey mate, loving the adventures.
How do you do the colour changing lights?
Which one? The ones under the van or the one inside the van?
@@MispronouncedAdventures you turned a corner and showed normal, amber, and white lights.
Ah, my van cornering lamps which come on when turning which which the van came with, they are a warm white, I’ve got the bonnet mounted ambers with I can turn on with the front fog lights and I main white light bar which are turned on with high beam
is your van a four wheel drive
No, it’s the RWD version, I’d love a AWD. But I haven’t had issues with it being only RWD
Do you rate the little Konwei display? Looks quite cabby and thinking of getting one, seeing as how they are cheap. Have you got a default brand and spec of winter tyres you use?
I think its great wee bit off kit! Actually I thought the build quality of it was pretty good, surprising good actually. I’m using BFgoodrich KO2 in 225/75R16
11:30 air conditioner at the top of the green van?
Yeah. There van is awesome. I’ve met them before at a few events. A lot of tech in that van for both Summer and winter
Lovin it! Van looks flipping awesome. Did you get your engine thingy-mi-bob from amazon? Looking forward to more of your icey adventures.
I got mine from eBay as it was 1/3 of the price of Amazon. Thank you for thinking the van looks good
@@MispronouncedAdventures I'm still yet to find a good place to get the spot lamps but from one of your earlier videos on b2b cooling, i have just designed and 3d printed a similar solution to yours so thats this weekends wiring in project. Love the channel, and looking forward to this new adventure. Stay save and no sliding this time :)
3d printers are so useful for making things like that!
I also hope no sliding as well!
Did you have to get winter tires with spikes ?
No, haven’t found them necessary in 2 winters. The far north is a lot more compacted snow, I rarely saw ice. Good tyres & tread ( which meets the Nordic legal winter tyre requirements ) and a heavy RWD drive works fine up there for me
Where did you get the bonnet brackets for your lights?
“Wheeliams” in the uk make the custom bonnet brackets for the MK8 transits. There is a link on the instagram.
Do you that food over with you ?
I do take some food with me. But I buy most of it out there
I bet your not paying 170 a litre like in the uk
Paying about the same as the uk for premium diesel up here from when I left! Cheaper than last year
6 hours to drive 2 countries holy crap Europe is small
Depends which part. France, Belgium, Netherlands and Germany in that area are all pretty close together.
Be aware of which type of diesel you are getting. There is some diesel, with has too much biofuel in it, and it may not work if it's colder than -30. Ask for clean diesel, some have it, and someone not.
All the diesel out here seems to be same winter grade stuff
@@MispronouncedAdventures Last week, there was a story on TV about that diesel with biofuel and it didn't work if it was colder than -30. Maybe the all has changed to clean diesel after that.
Malmoo
I presume I mispronounced it ?
Exactly! It's in the channel name! 10 points for me!
As for the petrol pump clicky thing. I wish we had it. I swear I remember some places having it like 20 years ago. Maybe I used a lorry pump 🤔
Ah, the border guards don't want van tours anymore.
I know a shame right!
Hope you don’t get snow as bad as this guy! It’s quite interesting, if you skip the cooking bit. I also like his drop down bed in the transit.
ua-cam.com/video/2qEd0p7uQws/v-deo.html
Yeah I seen his channel! I hope I don’t get they much snow! I also can’t cook that well to don’t be filming long cooking parts!
Why should we put bits on our headlamps for the European drivers when NONE of them ever do it when they come here?
Even if they don’t do it. It’s still the law.
Don't think that's the point.
@Mispronounced Adventures even if its the law,if we stop eu drivers in the uk how are we to enforce payment--there eu britain is not
that's not a reason to not do it.
They choose which laws they prioritise to enforce as do we. Our country doesn't fund or prioritise road policing which is our political decision, there's does. That's up to them
