You may say (in your footnote) that the video was not ‘fleshed out’, but don’t denigrate yourself. All your videos have excellent establishing shots, lingering pans & a feel for the southern landscape, wherever you find yourself. An excellent record with great feel and panache.
If you'd have uploaded this last week I would certainly have been April Fooled!!! Never expected to see this happen on this great little "rural" line, hard work and determination has certainly paid off, a BoB with Bodiam Castle as a backdrop, works for me!! Up to your usual standard Matthew👍👍
Lovely to see some footage of the K&ESR, Matt. I remember visiting when I was nipper many years ago but haven't been back since, unfortunately. The pano with Bodiam Castle in the background is a beautiful angle on this line !
I got to spend a day driving & firing this at its previous placement, Spa Valley Railway. They did a Bulleid Pacific experience day. An amazing locomotive. Wasn’t a massive fan of the reverser set up. It’s really fiddly.
As stated, 34072 was built under BR, so can't authentically carry "Southern" (nothing stopping it though in preservation). That said, reinstate the tender raves, and it could feasibly carry malachite green with "BRITISH RAILWAYS". But he who pays the money, chooses the colour etc.
I never thought I'd see such a hefty steam train on the K&ESR
Hi Tony, neither did I, the K&ESR had previously only permitted a 17-ton axle load limit for it's locomotives.

34072 Squadron 257 Bullied but has now moved to spa valley railway
@@williamtacey777034072 is no longer a resident of the Swanage Railway. Now based at the Spa Valley Railway.
I went to that railway and my train was pulled by this locomotive. I was so happy taht it was this engine because I love the Bulleid Pacifics.
Hopefully this paves the way for other big locos to visit! 🎉
Fingers crossed. It was very enjoyable to see 257 in such unfamiliar territory.
Spamcan heaven, that view at about 5.00 was magnificent!
Thanks very much
They ran to Bude and Padstow as part of the Atlantic Coast Express.
She looks right at home. It's like the kind of branch line work the Light Pacifics were put on when they were trying to find things for them all to do
That light Pacific doesn't look out of place at all, thanks for the upload.
These locomotives were built to run on branch lines in the West Country which is why they had an axle loading of 17 tons.
When will 34073 249 Squadron be restored to working order?
Another amazing video! Thank you for sharing! ❤❤
Thanks very much, Chris!
Excellent!
Cheers
Quality video as usual 👍
excellent shots 👍nice to see a full size loco on it hope it's not a one off
Thank you

A lot of Southern firemen over the years would have agreed with you!
Very nice video :)
Fabulous locomotive it’s a shame not in southern railway livery…
It was never a Southern Railway locomotive it entered service after nationalisation.
@@winco68 ok but the design was southern railway I think …
@@michaelstaley2241 Absolutely. To be fair I was nitpicking 🤣
@@winco68 okay iconic locomotive as with the A4 and the LMS pacific streamline locomotives of that period….
