The Orion set always was too expensive for me so I went with the Vazen lenses. Seeing those at this price point really is incredible! Can't wait to see footage shot with them!
@@sdm2 don’t get me wrong, I would love to own a pair of these, but I already have the vazens RF and DZO Vespids, I feel they pair well together, I like to use both anamorphics and sphericals for film projects due to the Vazen anamorphics being limited with their focus distances
I think they will pair well with the vazen: golden flares, enhance bokeh: 1.5 squeeze but optical trick like the swirley bokeh of the helios, so visualy close to 1.8X squeeze bokeh effect. (A japanese cinematographer made a test and the bokeh look 1.8X). Maybe I will buy the 42mm in 2024! 2023 will be the vazen 65mm amber flares. 😄
I have a question. I pre ordered the 42 mm, but the few videos I have seen online the image does not look sharp, like the Orion lenses, loosk washed out and I am yet to see a video showing good focusing at all. This makes me very nervous. Do you have any sample footage showing if the lens is sharp?
All right. With a factor of 2x you will clip off some of your sensor resolution. And if you have a 4k sensor instead of 6k, then you have big problems.
@@Jorge_Ambruster but even with the additional height, the VistaVision sensor is still larger in total, like on the diagonal, to a point that some full frame lenses will vignette, not by alot but still there
@@zebius4157 Yeah, but for actual use of this lenses, in that video mentioned above, they probably cropped part of the image in the sides of the VistaVision sensor.
@@Jorge_Ambruster actually, the la Sommer video is open gate, otherwise, they wouldn't had the exact aspect ratio you get from using a 1.5x anamorphic lens on a 1.9:1 sensor when the lens is set vertically, as it was

I own a pair of vazens myself and I’m skeptical of the 1.5x squeeze, would be more thrilled if it were closer to 1.8 or 2x
@@CP-CINEMA - yeah, I own the MFT Vazens , but would love to go FF. These lenses seem sooo close. The 1.5 is my concern also.

Could not be more excited to test a set of these lenses on my Gemini Rig, this fills a serious need in the market and I can’t wait to check them out.

Wait, if it's maximum is the Alexa LF, how does it cover the raptor vv sensor in the la Sommer video?
The VistaVision sensor is larger than the Alexa LF horizontally. But the Alexa LF has a larger vertical height.
