So I just saw in a new story today that Jennifer Yen, who played Vipera, quit acting after Lightspeed Rescue. She apparently had terrible reactions to the makeup and decided to develop a line of skin care products, which is why she was in the news. I just think it's one of those funny stories where life can go in weird directions, one minute you're fighting Power Rangers and the next you're starting a lotion brand. It's always fun to see where these people go when they quit the show, since it seems really rare for anyone involved to stay in acting.

Dinas still seemed to try a little to hard sometimes, but still is more superior than that of Vypra's acting and her voice makes me cringe less than Vypra's.
A few years ago, I would randomly think of this TV show I used to watch as a kid, though the only part I could remember from it was a train that flew off tracks into the sky. It took me watching this to finally realize that the show was Lightspeed Rescue.
man, I remember this being my favourite power rangers series. I loved the theme, the costumes, the zords, everything. at the time, it even made me wanna be a firefighter when I grew up! instead I grew up and became sad
In regards to Vypra’s acting she did have some bad timing. Sandwiched between three great villain actors (Melody Perkins, Amy Miller, Vernon Wells) isn’t gonna help optics. (The following year, the female secondary villain got a big upgrade with Kate Sheldon)
I loved the soundtrack in this season. Not just the opener, but the music that plays to set the mood throughout the episodes (buildings being blown up, rangers getting their shit slapped, moral lessons, happy resolution). It fits the theme of the season well and... Brass
does anyone else think the rangers are in agony there just like "cool im a power ranger, its morph in time ah oh my god the pain oh my god its melting on to my body oh my god oh cool im the red ranger reds my favorite color" and in jungle fury there dna is changed as well that would be so painful
+Brendan McCabe No, I don't think so. Now maybe if it was established that there were some earlier tests on the rangers' technology with the morphers and the universal morphing grid, I guess you could say that the Lightspeed Rangers and the Jungle Fury morphers were heavily modified so that it wouldn't harm their bodies. But, in Jungle Fury, they pretty much are kung-fu students, so they have to channel their respective animal spirits while mastering their own ki so that they won't feel any pain when they morph. Besides, when has Power Rangers ever became friends with science and logics before?!?!?!
The intro to LSR sounds to me like a promotional commercial for the military, which would fit. That’s something I’d like to see in the future, a team that volunteers to be a member rather than being hand selected. S.P.D. sort of does this, but there’s still a bit if chosen one stuff going on given the origin of the civilian powers.
I got a huge question about Captain Mitchell and the Aquabase. So they know that the demons were sealed away 5 millennia ago, but when did construction of the aqua base begin? (And more importantly, how since ya know, it’s at the fucking bottom of random ocean/body of water). Even so, the demons were sealed 5000 years ago, and the base seems to mainly be prepared for the demons (I suppose they’re prepared for other aliens/monster invasions, but the demons are the first and only monsters emphasized). The base could’ve gone another century before the demons were released. It’s been 5000 years, so it might’ve been another 5000 years for all we know. After 5 millennia, so what makes the creator think that in a few decades, someone will be foolish enough to open the tomb? In addition, when Ryan was saved by Diabolico, did this cause beef for Mitchell because it became personal?
I'm not a big fan of it. I liked it but I just didn't feel and seriousness like light speed or time force. It just was just a final chapter to me. But maybe I'm wrong I'll have to watch it again. 1 thing I didn't like about it was andros. Don't get me wrong he's a great leader and red ranger but I didn't like the fact they tried their hardest to make him a discount tommy. He was a great leader none the less
I must admit, light speed rescue was one of my first series. It was really cool and the idea of a government run ranger project was cool. Plus, it showed them actually rescuing people so there's less of an empty warehouse feel. I also loved the morphing and megazord sequences. The cgi was pretty good and the super train is fun.
Lightspeed Rescue = SHIELD Captain Mitchell = Nick Fury Dana = Coulson Carter = Captain America Ms. Fairweather = Maria Hill Lightspeed Power Rangers = Avengers. Heck they even had one of the demons called Loki (I know i'ts pronounced LOKAI but still). Cool huh?
I can't seem to prove this, but I also recall this series for being the first to explain why both power rangers and monsters have an aversion to water in the show: it seems to physically hurt the monsters and force the rangers to demorph, to the point where that is why the base is underwater. I seem to recall in one episode where a monster got into the base Carter momentarily weakened it by pulling it into the moonpool, forcing it to retreat.
fun fact, historically there was a gun-blade, (a cutlass-pistol to be precise) developed by the u.s navy for boarding parties, because they apparently thought there weren't enough parallels to pirates. The Elgin Cutlass pistol for the curious for more historic gun-blades, see here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pistol_sword Edit: and becuse that wasn't enough, there's also a combination pistol-knife-knuckleduster called an apache revolver. for when you can't decide where to shoot, stab or punch a guy.
The 3000 year old monster called them power rangers……. Confirmed that as much as they hate it the writers made the ancient dinosaur powers the ones from the past
Betting Vipera just had bad direction. Seems like she had to rein herself in a few times to avoid actually emoting too much, like she was told to emote as flatly as possible, no matter what.
Forget "they haven't got a heart." The problem with the Cyborg Rangers is that they can't think for themselves. Having a controller nearby makes the person operating them a massive target. Also what if said operator needed to put them in a situation where he can't see? Or he can't make a split second decision the way a person trained or experienced with danger can?
Kellen Dean Not explored or denied so fans can make what they will. In Wild Force we had Black WF Ranger Danny Delgado. SPD - Yellow Delta Ranger Elizabeth "Z" Delgado Coincidence?
ReduxEditor335 could be related but again power rangers isn't exactly the most consistent series, some seasons even try to make it seem like a stand alone
Kellen Dean they try but in the end they all end being connected to past seasons somehow, minor inconsistencies and retcons notwithstanding. RPM came closest, but Saban worked around it by saying RPM took place in an alternate dimension, which actually rather clever as Go-Onger dealt with multiple parallel dimensions.
I just remember Lightspeed Rescue because all the female rangers and Ms. Fairweather were mad hot.

True, they gave them full names from the first episode, mighty morphin did that too, but that developed later in the series.

When he was describing Vipra's actor being awful, I immediately got flashbacks to Captain Marvel and Brie Larson's acting
4:55 Until we get to RPM and DinoCharger at least, who both exist in separate universes/timelines
This was actually my first power rangers series!
In regards to Vypra’s acting she did have some bad timing. Sandwiched between three great villain actors (Melody Perkins, Amy Miller, Vernon Wells) isn’t gonna help optics.
(The following year, the female secondary villain got a big upgrade with Kate Sheldon)
The Supertrain Megazord. One of my favourite Megazords EVER.
And largest next to the Delta Command Megazord.

This is an awfully dark scene for a kids show 😂
I would seriously cry if one day I open a Christmas present and inside is a Lightspeed Rescue jacket.
That’s like hitting the big time
Someday ~....
The theme song rocks! Heck I literally started singing it when he referenced it at the end of the last lost galaxy review
I loved the soundtrack in this season. Not just the opener, but the music that plays to set the mood throughout the episodes (buildings being blown up, rangers getting their shit slapped, moral lessons, happy resolution). It fits the theme of the season well and... Brass
Another big thing is the rangers are ACTUAL adults
Weren’t the lost galaxy rangers also adults?
The theme song is just okay🤪. Are you mad sir the theme song is amazing.
The theme song is badass though...
does anyone else think the rangers are in agony there just like "cool im a power ranger, its morph in time ah oh my god the pain oh my god its melting on to my body oh my god oh cool im the red ranger reds my favorite color" and in jungle fury there dna is changed as well that would be so painful
+Brendan McCabe When was the Jungle Fury Rangers' DNA changed? Wasn't it Operation Overdrive that had the Rangers' DNA changed.
Lightspeed Rescue was a first series that was definitely in the Post Zordon Era and had a hard time finding its footing again until Wild Force.
If there's an evil container, it will be opened.
I am in love with the morphin scene & You have said Silver Quills favorite word: Continuity.
Carter is one of my most favorite Red Rangers.
The Lightspeed plot sounds crazy even for Power rangers.
This series was so much more serious than the other it was a lot smarter and had better acting. Mmpr is the best but this is a close second.
In my opinion, Time Force is better. The acting, plot, and the rangers itself just were better for me.
I can't believe I forgot time force. Yes it had the best acting overall
What about In Space?
I'm not a big fan of it. I liked it but I just didn't feel and seriousness like light speed or time force. It just was just a final chapter to me. But maybe I'm wrong I'll have to watch it again.
1 thing I didn't like about it was andros. Don't get me wrong he's a great leader and red ranger but I didn't like the fact they tried their hardest to make him a discount tommy. He was a great leader none the less
RPM anyone?
Power Rangers Lightspeed Rescue: Saban's Avengers
I must admit, light speed rescue was one of my first series. It was really cool and the idea of a government run ranger project was cool. Plus, it showed them actually rescuing people so there's less of an empty warehouse feel. I also loved the morphing and megazord sequences. The cgi was pretty good and the super train is fun.
Also, is it just me or does light speed remind everyone of the tone of StarGate sg1.
Lightspeed Rescue = SHIELD
Captain Mitchell = Nick Fury
Dana = Coulson
Carter = Captain America
Ms. Fairweather = Maria Hill
Lightspeed Power Rangers = Avengers.
Heck they even had one of the demons called Loki (I know i'ts pronounced LOKAI but still). Cool huh?
+Δημήτρης Μπάρδας Coincidecnce?! I think not!!! XD
Awesome comparison.
Funny enough said Monster was Olympus
I also love continuity in power rangers
I like its Sentai counterpart better.
Sorry dude. All I can hear during the morphing scene is
*PEPSIMAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN*
The chorus of the opening is catchy enough. Not quite the earworm of Lost Galaxy's chorus but it works.
fun fact, historically there was a gun-blade, (a cutlass-pistol to be precise) developed by the u.s navy for boarding parties, because they apparently thought there weren't enough parallels to pirates.
The Elgin Cutlass pistol for the curious
for more historic gun-blades, see here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pistol_sword
Edit: and becuse that wasn't enough, there's also a combination pistol-knife-knuckleduster called an apache revolver. for when you can't decide where to shoot, stab or punch a guy.
The 3000 year old monster called them power rangers……. Confirmed that as much as they hate it the writers made the ancient dinosaur powers the ones from the past
Betting Vipera just had bad direction. Seems like she had to rein herself in a few times to avoid actually emoting too much, like she was told to emote as flatly as possible, no matter what.
this was my first ranger series ever, and it still holds up in my opinion
maybe general McKnight is related to Connor
Now that I'm older, I LOVE the Lost Galaxy and Lightspeed Rescue theme songs
The original Japanese source was Go go 5 what I want on DVD my birthday along with Time Ranger on dvds
"Behold my son, and your destructor!" - He's in a cocoon, that's not a very terrifying image!
It's funny, but the guy playing Captain Mitchell was only like 33 years old. He was only 13 years older than the actors playing his son and daughter.
This is one of my favorite power rangers music out of 10!
I actually think the more brass instrumental version used within episodes fits the simi-military fill of the show. But that's just my silly opinion.
I had vhs with the Ryan Snake Tattoo episodes. Fell in love with the show right there
I also had the Curse of the Cobra vhs tape. Always watched it as a movie.
@@Dgamer-kq5kt dude, it was one of the only videos at my grandma's, i watched it religiously everytime i visited lol
@@OlPalJoe Same here!
This was my first power rangers series it was on VHS but I also saw some episodes on family channel
It's Interesting that Impus is called a "Destructor" and that the building at 21:14 looks alot like the building in Ghostbusters 1.
21:02 So Bansheera knows Gozer?
Other than it looks like a cartoon instead of you know a real snake or alien snake I think the scene was pretty good especially for the time period
General McKnight
Conner McKnight
Coincidence? I think not!
+Boruto “Lion Cub” Uzumaki Uhh, Bernie...
Okay I was thinking the same thing but considering they were in different eras it's most likely a coincidence
Kellen Dean Not explored or denied so fans can make what they will.
In Wild Force we had Black WF Ranger Danny Delgado.
SPD - Yellow Delta Ranger Elizabeth "Z" Delgado
Coincidence?
ReduxEditor335 could be related but again power rangers isn't exactly the most consistent series, some seasons even try to make it seem like a stand alone
Kellen Dean they try but in the end they all end being connected to past seasons somehow, minor inconsistencies and retcons notwithstanding. RPM came closest, but Saban worked around it by saying RPM took place in an alternate dimension, which actually rather clever as Go-Onger dealt with multiple parallel dimensions.
I wonder if Lightspeed Rescue takes place at the same time as Lost Galaxy
No after.
How do you figure?
Because the team-up episodes with the Galaxy Rangers that season ("Trakeena's Revenge") takes place after the events of Lost Galaxy.
I just barely got to the finale, when I was binge watching all of the seasons of Power Rangers, before I went to power morphicon.
