To think that one of the promises luxury brands make is exclusivity… if we think about it for longer it makes sense that they do mass produce popular products but I didn’t think that it would be that bad.
If celebrities will be more wiser on which brand they would support or endorse, it will make a change. Stop endorsing brands that thrive on the plight of others. Let’s all be concious and wiser on endorsing and buying.
You know what? You probably cant even get many of the Birkins that cheap. Right now, this minute, Kylie Jenner has one for sale on Kardashian Kloset and it is selling for $65,000. Of course it is used but if you look closely, it is filthy and looks to be in poor condition. I mean, $65,000. This is absolutely nuts. Down payment for a house Would be better.
Made in Italy is actually made in Albania. They make everything in Albania and they just put it together (like a puzzle) in Italy. And voila, they have the legal right to write down that they are made in Italy.
These “luxury” brands are no better than these fast fashion brands. Certain groups and certain people spew the narrative of fast fashion brands being unethical only to protect themselves and portray themselves as better just to be doing the same things they are guilty of. Less than $100 bucks to make a bag that they sell for thousands, why wouldn’t they want to point the finger at fast fashion companies. If you seen some of these 1:1 dupes that are out there you would really think twice about shelling out thousands to these “luxury” brands.
The most luxury and exclusive bag you can buy is from your local leather crafter. You can be certain that it is so exclusive that Jeff, Mark, and Steve won't have one even with all their money the have. Yet you will have a bag made by one person, of quality material, made in your country by hand.
I watched a documentary about luxury leather goods and I have never looked at the high fashion industry the same. So many of the same points addressed here, outsourced 3rd party contractors (sketchy and easy to deny blame or cut ties) forgien workers from Africa, 16 hour work days, unsafe working conditions, no payment after all . . . So
No no no no, HOLD UP. It’s a well known fact that “made in Italy” and many other EU countries means absolutely nothing, and the hands making those overpriced goods are indeed still exploited immigrant hands. You want to buy them, YOU SUPPORT THIS SYSTEM.The laws in place are anything but discriminatory, if anything the Italian laws are apt to protect workers of any nationality a lot more than workers in the US. The culprit of this exploitation are the companies that allow it by turning a blind eye to it. The fine was laughably low? I wonder why with the lawyers LVMH and friends can afford! And this has been going on a lot longer than 8years 😂 the first public Report that came out about Chinese illegals stitching Givenchy bags in Naples aired on Italians TVs in 2009.
Explain. I domt understand why people are getting outraged right now when weve known about these Chinese workers in Milan for years. And Ive always hated LVMH.
@@susiex6669 often they’re illegal immigrants working in the same inhumane conditions they’d work in in China, but on European soil therefore the crappy bag they make in slavery is worth 10k instead of 20$.
@@susiex6669 I already replied but for some reason it got erased. Chinese illegals flock to Italy under false promises, get stuck to work for these giant brands in the same sweatshop conditions they left in China. Often their documents get sequestered therefore they’re quite literally prisoners of their traffickers. All of this is illegal. Italian and European laws DO NOT ALLOW IT, but those brands turn a blind eye to this and cover it up.
I watched a video of expensive Trickers shows made in England, but the female staff wore Sketchers. If your staff can't afford the goods they make, you are treating your staff wrong. The real luxury brands you don't know about, as you are not in a position to buy any of them. Dior, Hugo Boss, etc. are all bought by the poor who want to give the look of being rich. However the true rich will wear a $8,000 sweater that has no logo on it and $600 baseball caps.
How is any of this a revelation? This has been going on for decades. You would have to be living under a rock not to know this well known industry fact. Why do you think that so many manufacturers of almost everything went to China or some of the poorest countries in the World in the first place? You also have to think about culture and economies of scale to get some sort of perspective. You have to know that many of these countries didn’t even have a middle class until some of these opportunities came to their coasts. That doesn’t excuse the abuse, but the disingenuous out-rage disguised as some sort of newly minted expose is kinda ridiculous, especially after the dust settles and everything goes back to the way it was before. Lots of outrage, not many substantive solutions.
I was shocked by these allegations. I once had the opportunity to tour the Ferrari factory in Modena. It was an impressive workers’ paradise with onsite healthcare, a lot of natugral light and trees growing inside the factory. The production lines were super clean and the area where interiors were sewn included exactly what you’d expect: talented Italian seamstresses working their craft. I stupidly extrapolated this environment to ALL Italian factories. Not joking when I say this: I will never purchase another luxury item. The excitement and joy are gone. Plus, I own enough stuff already. Furthermore, I now view luxury as cruel on a number of levels.
BBC documentary found children as young as five picking jasmine from 3am in an Egyptian village responsible for producing 75 per cent of the country’s jasmine. These jasmine farms supply Estée Lauder and L’Oreal (parent company of Lancôme.)
The price of a product is build on the market where the customers buy it. The price is, what costumers are willing to pay. On the market there is no relation between costs of production and price. It is quite normal, that todays luxury products are sold for up to hundreds of times as the production costs are. You can buy a normal cotton T-shirt for $ / € 1.000 from many brands like LV. This is the reason why Bernard Arnault, chairman of LVMH, with a net worth of $158 billion is one of the richest persons in the world. He sells you a T-Shirt other brands sell für $ 30 and cover production, distribution, marketing and sales for $ 1.000. Luxury once meant special materials, high quality and craftmanship. Today it is just a marketing claim and luxury brands fear the day costumers recognize this and the bubble bursts.
Ampudent greedy luxury fashion companies. There should be a reason why prices are so high, not just "because we are soooo premium and want to be inaccessible for most if the people, thus be special ". And to be ethical for THEIR prices is obligatory. Nowadays they save on workers, on materials, on designs (not much of the uniqueness anymore in the premium segment)... why should we still pay premium prices then? Even super reach people should ask themselves the same quastion. Common... if quality is poor, nobody needs this even for 30% the price.
Things changed during the last decade, huge increased demands due to influencers and marketing....hopefully still some high-quality materials and craftsmanship
Thank you 🙏 for the video, please research and give us more videos. I have changes my mind so much about all brands, and I watch carefully what I buy these days
So now you know that many prestige brands, owned by powerful conglomerates run on exploitation and the manipulation of your own desires. Consumers need to consider ending all these status signaling via designer luxury goods. Period.
this doesn't surprise me The shareholder of LVMH and Kerring group expects profit yoy, and this is how they hit those targets every time. no longer buying luxury goods, there is nothing luxurious about these brands. shitty quality , high prices and then exploiting workers.
It's exactly what I've been saying all along. The new fast fashion is luxury brands. I'm just waiting for other brands especially from LVMH to come out as $20 each to make. They're greedy and quality has gone downhill so fast
Christian Dior would have been heartbroken by this. He loved his workers like his family. He was well known for his kindness and wonderful working conditions.
I have a Kors, I really like, I don’t know that much about how it’s made my next two planned purses are Everlane and Nicole Kwon. The one plus side of Kors is that the line doesn’t start so expensively a worker can’t access it. It might still be sweaty from slave labor though.

If we returned to the days when all these brands made their products by hand in European ateliers and only made Haute Couture, the middle class would not be able to afford them. This is a direct result of the commercialization and democratization of luxury fashion.
It doesn’t need to be luxury brand as so many brands do so much to there works that it is sad and it is horrible… even in EU there is so many people working so hard and get nothing….

Greed is greed, and there is no cure for greed. You have no choice. Your average consumer is not buying a Dior bag; they are shopping on Shein and Temu. And has anyone ever asked these "exploited" workers how they feel? They are making money. Here in the USA, you have a ton of migrants who arrived, and there are no jobs for them. Which do you think they would prefer? We should not judge. Everything in life should be viewed from a grey perspective.
Ya but these consumers are less to believe their items come from ethical practices made by artisans, that’s why their price is so high. We don’t need to judge but we need to spread the word so other people know not to donate their hard earned money to these billion dollar industries
The workers are really working hard and it should be paid generously..Imagine the luxury brands are very expensive..The company wants only their own benefits and not the benefits of their employees..It should be fair benefits..it’s my opinion 🤔..Thanks for sharing .God bless..🙏🏻💖💖
When you buy. Expensive item like a purse. You'll buy them from your own company and pay yourself. Somebody is investing in their own investment, so really? They're not paying for anything. They're just putting money back into the bank account.
I bought vintages Chanel and the quality was far better than the new ones. I find the new productiions cheap in quality and materials. So I am switching to good quality leathers that are not as mass produced but really had good quality materials.
All workers are being exploited around the world. That is a fact as old as time; and to not realize these big designer houses don’t practice mass production (fast fashion) is us sticking our heads into the sand to be oblivious to what is happening and has been happening. These designer houses make their money through mass production of certain consumer goods vs their haute couture collections - because is really going to wear a lot of those creations out in public?! Less than 1% will dare, especially if they have the coins to do so. The haute couture collections are far from being affordable expensive, it’s the OG of “quiet luxury”. Once a product gains popularity, these designers (i.e. owners of the brand) will jump on the opportunity to make a huge profit, hence they’ll rev up production. It’s a cycle that SHEIN follows as well as Dior - who they learned the practice from originally. Dior is not new to this, they’re true to it. As well as Chanel and LV.
Any big brand is likely exploiting workers. It’s usually smaller brands that can’t afford to use deep pockets for mass production that are ethically producing items.

I'm tired of this dumb discussion. Sewing in a factory is is done like a conveyer belt. one person sews cuffs all day. Another sews collars. Another sews pockets. one sews sleeves, etc, etc. then those pieces are app put together. few people sewing would even be aware of how to sew an entire garment, never mind Haute Couture. flat felled pockets are sewn by template now. Dior quilted leather bags are done by machine where other than laying the leather on the sewing bed, its done completely by machine in under one minute. the people of Peru who raise the goats for the cashmere are paid market rate for the wool. it goes to the processors who clean the wool, as its filthy when removed from the animals. there it will be carded and spun. it then goes off to the mills to be either woven into cloth to be turned into clothing or knitted into knitwear. the only difference between Dior and Primark are the fabric quality and the length of the stitches. designers use silks, wools, cashmere, merino, linen , Egyptian cotton , viscose (wood fibre) and sometimes high quality synthetics. designer stitch length is 2.2 on the sewing machine and cheap clothes are sewn at 3.5 with heavy top and under stitching in the same length. further, no factories have to provide their own fabrics. they are provided by the design house and will often already be cut and bundled ready to sew. even the thread is supplied as the thread must match the cloth. most factories work 24 hours with three shift. if anyone is working more than that, its overtime. the big companies produce millions of garments and accessories each, every year. that's mass production. if people want top luxury made by hand, go to an artisan and not a retail shop. they make between 12-70 thousand burkin bags each year. 80,000 pairs of gucci moccasins sold in the us alone in 2023. gft is the worlds biggest manufacturer of designer clothing: Before being sold in 1994 to Gemina, one of several companies owned by the legendary Giovanni Agnelli, Gruppo GFT (Gruppo Finanziario Tessile, or Textile Financial Group) was the world's largest manufacturer of designer clothing, competing at the highest end of the fashion business with ready-to-wear designer collections, one step below made-to-order haute couture. Its success is rooted in its unparalleled history, cutting edge technologies, well-organized labor practices and thorough understanding of fashion as an expression of contemporary culture. Innovative and flexible in an ever changing market, GFT single-handedly revolutionized the way artistic clothing was conceived, manufactured, marketed, and distributed. Its heart was on the pulse of social trends and needs, keeping it way ahead of its competitors.
The investigation found that the machines used for the design elements you discussed had been modified to remove the safety features that protect workers from injury in order to expedite the speed at which the machines could be used.
@@BartonEnglish1 its quite easy to google if you are smart enough. Let’s take a look at the fast fashion. All of it. Criminal in production on those humans that are barely paid to make any of it. The entire industry is horrid.
The brand is not the one who owns the factory nor the one who hire the workers. Let’s be honest different countries make lower amounts for work culturally and the brand can’t just tip a extra million or hundred million to change the infrastructure of your country. Let’s be honest if vicuña wool is the gas of your economy then what are you doing to better capitalize on that. We can’t exploit something that you are selling as a society. I buy fabrics and textiles from all over the world respectively from the weavers, spinners, farmers and mills at whatever price they ask even if I feel like they charging me more because I’m American so they think money when doing business. You can not scream culture appropriation, it’s more so culture extortion now days when you don’t even know if I sourced the fabric from some wholesale textile warehouse. This is real life how scary it even is to use a particular fabric for a collection you randomly bought for the color leading to a bad reputation and it’s just hurts but that’s why I do my job to pay whatever they ask without devaluing the time, effort and resources they put into making this textile.

Me too! I thought they were doing way better than fast fashion brands, but apparently not...
If celebrities will be more wiser on which brand they would support or endorse, it will make a change. Stop endorsing brands that thrive on the plight of others. Let’s all be concious and wiser on endorsing and buying.
This world needs more love and empathy.
Take a look at the $20,000 Hermés Birkin Bags.
I will never buy a luxury bag, especially a bag where I am also advertising their product for free, due to the logo on their items.
Very disappointing. they are no better then Shein which is horrible
I had a feeling that shein was horrid! Like primark!
Made in Italy is actually made in Albania. They make everything in Albania and they just put it together (like a puzzle) in Italy. And voila, they have the legal right to write down that they are made in Italy.
It has completely turned me off Dior. I am sure they are not the only ones . I will not buy their beauty products etc anymore
Hi,italian follower here. I think the investigation around Milan was the same that out Armani on trial
If you seen some of these 1:1 dupes that are out there you would really think twice about shelling out thousands to these “luxury” brands.
at this point im thinking of buying a bag from leather tannerstein.
So many of the same points addressed here, outsourced 3rd party contractors (sketchy and easy to deny blame or cut ties) forgien workers from Africa, 16 hour work days, unsafe working conditions, no payment after all . . .
So
unfortunately everywhere in the world the unethical treatment of people is being practiced..😢
@@susiex6669 I’m just rectifying the point where she states that there are discriminatory labor laws in Italy against immigrants. No there are not.
Singaporeans are ditching their Dior bags on pre love market . I would too , why be carrying a bag made by abused workers ??
They need to be exposed and become transparent it’s not acceptable
This is how you get rich. Exploit the workers and the gullible consumers.
So every customer are paying outrageous price for cheap stuff.
The saddest thing is although these companies have all the power in the world to have social responsibility, they still don't do it.
Claire Smith just exposed a Lancome perfume scam too.
Oh my… I’ll definitely check this out thanks
I had a Dior bag from 2006 that had components in it that caused me to think - this has been going on for a long time.
Things changed during the last decade, huge increased demands due to influencers and marketing....hopefully still some high-quality materials and craftsmanship
well said, what a sad breaking news about Dior and Armani. I really feel sad for the poor workers. This is against humanity
Hermes pays 94 for a bag and charges 3500
I totally agree with this but why arent we putting way more pressure on fast fashion brands and letting them ghet away with so much more harm
Period.
How is this news? Weve known that Chinese foreign workers have been working in Milan for years to get around the "made in Italy" laws in Italy.
this doesn't surprise me The shareholder of LVMH and Kerring group expects profit yoy, and this is how they hit those targets every time. no longer buying luxury goods, there is nothing luxurious about these brands. shitty quality , high prices and then exploiting workers.
„ Made in Europe“ legally means that only the finishing touches are made in EU, while the item itself may be produced somewhere else.
That's disappointing but true...
I'm surprised a lot of people were shocked by this news. I thought it was already widely known.
Not sure why you are surprised.
So u knew that a dior bag is only 53euro from before?i think not
@@daenytargaryen8929 No, not the exact amount, but I knew, the cost would be extremely low, it’s business!
I knew that made in Europe or made in Pakistan, the workers are treated and paid badly, it’s been in the media for the last 10 years!
Spanish villages, with hidden leather workshops, no heating and low pay.
If you didn’t know that, then you must be living under a rock!
@@daenytargaryen8929 it might be because I'm Italian and I watched a lot of Report documentaries on that matter but I thought a dior bag would cost 30€ to make. They usually cost 25-30€ and it is a known fact.
I'm mad at the fact I paid 2400 for a bag that only costs 47$ to make.
New fan, just found you and wow you are really good at this.❤
i didnt know people didnt know these things these companies always be mistreating their employees
Should watch the documentary where the reporter interviews the Libyan refugees slave labouring to make LVMH bags , not getting paid, not provided basic safety gloves to handle the toxic leather dyes, not getting paid for months of work, getting beat up by the bosses henchmen when asking about pay, and the head leather organizer acting dumb blind and deaf when the reporter confronts them about their labour law violations!
I never buy designer clothes, esp bags and shoes for this reason. I do splurge on perfumes because they are not made in factories.
Have you ever seen how the kids are sent to the fields to collect jasmine blooms at 3am, before the suns out…?!
If we returned to the days when all these brands made their products by hand in European ateliers and only made Haute Couture, the middle class would not be able to afford them. This is a direct result of the commercialization and democratization of luxury fashion.
this is sod.... let's hope something change to make fashion luxury great again.
It doesn’t need to be luxury brand as so many brands do so much to there works that it is sad and it is horrible… even in EU there is so many people working so hard and get nothing….
Most products now are being produced in Asia, even the big labels. It has been like that for decades. Why does everyone make a big fuss now?!
Thanks for making this video and exposing this sad, deplorable state.
LVMH is the most ruthless profit gather of them all since they are with public held company AKA traded on the market . Tradionally fashion was a family business. LVMH ruin fashion. no worries the god of greed was destroy LVMH.
When the luxury brand were being made I Korea, and their labour practices were awful, there were a lot of items that "dropped off the truck." Hope that is still happening.😮
As far as I know people in Peru produced Vikunja for Loro Piana, while their Fibre of the gods (called Gift of Kings) comes from Australia.
I could be wrong
Yes I’m Peruvian and the vicuña scandal is just a mess. Is like a feudal system with labor that got away somehow during the 90s ( one of the most corrupted governments in the history of)
that's it, I'm buying the counterfeit lady dior to store my makeup (not to wear in public). I've been avoiding it for LOL ethical reasons...
Crap brands exploit workers too, ya know.
@ NB, exactly, if the globalists had their way, we would not have anything to wear, based on their propaganda.
It’s consumers who supported branded stuff. There are other brands not just Dior
I don’t know why people are shocked - i work with manufacturers in china - when you know about the other side of the industry
When you buy.
Expensive item like a purse. You'll buy them from your own company and pay yourself. Somebody is investing in their own investment, so really? They're not paying for anything. They're just putting money back into the bank account.
Expecting a video about this from you..nd here u are..❤
I hope I'm not too late 🥹❤️
As well as Chanel and LV.
sad all bands do it from Coach Burberry they just got caught
Is there any source i can take a look at? I love Coach and I would hate to learn that they’re exploiting their workers too…
Any big brand is likely exploiting workers. It’s usually smaller brands that can’t afford to use deep pockets for mass production that are ethically producing items.
@@VBoo459 Furla, an italian high quality brand is absolutely unlikely to exploit workers.
You see my local bus builder Van Hool just went broke cuz they get no orders from the state. Instead our state buys buses iin China, those chinese don't earn a dime for it . Bombardier in Brugge had to put millions of euros in their plant cuz they got no orders from the state. It has taken 2 years before they got work again. So blame all those fancy politicians with their big wages and their big cars.
Do a video on Strathberry and Polene
'There are also some industrial sewing machines that have an electronic speed control, something that limits the speed or number of stitches per minute, and when that limit is set low, the machine will adhere to that speed setting, no matter how hard/deep you step on the pedal.2 Sept 2021'... speed is adjusted. you have obviously seen a juki work. duh
This is disappointing! I liked Dior!
Me too…
Let’s take a look at the fast fashion. All of it. Criminal in production on those humans that are barely paid to make any of it. The entire industry is horrid.
Material gone cheaper and workers on cheap labour
All designers employ cheap workers to make profits
I refuse to buy dior with their anti palestinian stand. So who’d be surprised they are treating their workers right?
Why would Dior though be made in Italy ? I mean it's a French Company, being made in Italy makes it even more suspicious.
Every month in my country at least one medium company closes due to all obstacles from the EU. There is nothing left.
Maybe you should check how much some of the spices cost in the shops and how much people that produce them get …. you will be shocked….
Girl you late , we already know its all over the internet
We make our turnover in Europe in health care hospitals doctors specialits elderly homes and children gartens. We have no production or whatsoever.
Thanks for the Info. Was about to buy some clothes from Armani but now I won't.
Very dissapointed, I liked both Dior and Armani, shared your video on my twitter
Italian law for foreign worker need to change, i hate seeing my country do this bc we dont protest like the french.
Now China outsources it's fashion manufacturing - even for luxury brands - to North Korea.
you clearly don't know how retail markups work, the value of money in different parts of the world or much about the fashion industry in general
THEY ARE EXTREMELY GREEDY.
