My biggest argument about the DVP clock is the talking heads stating "it will keep cars feom coming back onto the track and losing debris".
Solution: lets limit the amount of time they can make good repairs and consequently will lose more debris.

Best: Instituting a pit road speed in 1991. Before that drivers could rush down pit road but after a crew a member was killed from Bill Elliott's team the previous year, they implemented pit road speeds.
Worst: Before that, the drivers were given random numbers (separate from their actual car numbers) and had to pit on whatever lap their number was, even numbered pit on even numbered laps and odd numbered cars pit on odd numbered laps.) However, this proved to be problematic as it was too confusing, and drivers were penalized for making necessary stops if a tire blew. This eventually led to a pit road speed limit as mentioned previously.

the yellow line rule on superspeedways was instituted back in 2001 in response to Dale Sr's tragic last lap crash in the Daytona 500. And it's been infuriating to all of us NASCAR fans ever since.

550hp high downforce was god awful. Full throttle "pack" racing was god awful. I thought I'd be watching more races again since those days are over but unfortunately I have watched less races than ever before because of how we crown a champion. Elimination style format is the worst thing NASCAR has done as well as crowning a champion in 1 race when it should be 10 races or 36

I like that they put the choose cone on the backstretch at road courses. They should do that at the bigger oval tracks too. Reduce the number of caution laps following the pace car.

I think if NASCAR went back to having the non points races have only 15-20 cars in it, single file restarts should happen. Especially at the crash at the crashiseum. Well, maybe not there, but at Daytona, where it should have never left, would be cool to see

Stage racing does suck. HANS device is what has made drivers safer. If Dale Sr. had used one, he'd probably be a retired announcer today. 100% on the horsepower cut, but it's still bad.

Best was by far pit road speed limits, requiring the HANS device for all drivers.

NASCAR overtime should not be a thing. All it does is change the outcome of a race that has already completed the scheduled distance. The race should have been declared completed and the finishing order final.
Also the worst part of the 550hp package was that they did not have to lift off the throttle for mile and a half tracks. Drivers could not show off their skills behind the wheel because the car was not capable of going beyond the limit of grip, effectively making everyone the same speed. The race basically became hold the throttle down and hope you win. The only deciding factor in those cars was who could get the least amount of drag within the rules.

The worst rule change of all time was brian france ruining the Championship format, first with the Chase and then with the elimination races. Such a stupid idea to introduce a playoff to auto racing... cheapens the first 26 races of the season, cheapens what a NASCAR Champion means (especially with the eliminations) and it has not brought in those young, hip fans that NASCAR craves. Fitting for a CEO that was unceremoniously fired in disgrace after getting his stupid, entitled ass arrested for a DUI.

Clint Bowyer broke the all time record for consecutive starts without a DNF because there was no limit on how long teams could take repairing their cars. 2009 Aaron's 499 he was in the big wreck on lap 6, several other drivers failed to return to the track at all but Clint came back out of the garage with 2 laps to go to preserve his streak
