Feels like yesterday when I first played..... I wish the whole game to was as good this intro because for real the monoculars seemed like an actual game feature...also we had actual cinematics and animations :') The whole introduction mission had everything!
I got back into this a few weeks ago and I haven’t put it down. This is probably one of the most underrated games I’ve ever seen. Did u know they have Raids on there? RAIDS! In Fortnite! They have 4 different ones. They call them Dungeons. This is something else I didn’t know, there are like 6 different maps. A swamp map, a desert map, an industrial one and more. The game is more than just a tower defense game like I thought it was, there are over 10 different mission types. The crafting, upgrading and leveling systems are SUPER detailed. I heard the story is like 85hrs long, I BELIEVE IT! I bought this the first day it came out and played it but didn’t get all the way into it, now that I have, I see this is an absolute gem.
I hate how they never actually concluded this story. We defeat the storm king but the storms still exist. I wish there was an actual *ending* where we see the storm actually disappear and stuff.

It would be more fun and still big now but it has been 4 years since a proper update. Story is still sitting on a cliffhanger even. Game now just feels like a beta that will never end. Unfortunately.
Late reply but similar to what the other person said. You are the commander since they scrapped the old idea I guess. It was originally supposed to be that the commander was an actual character who existed but just didn't have dialogue for some reason. He was supposed to have his own story but... well, they forgot about all of that or something. Just like they forgot Dennis' girlfriend despite her being mentioned early in stw, in a cutscene at the start of the game where the storm shield gets deployed and even in the old trailer for a moment. Unfortunately, they changed a lot without explanation.
I saw this cutscene for the first time in September of 2018. I've only missed 3 days of playing Save the World since then.
