This is an awesome grinder! I have been using the Fixie at home (for years) for one grind instead of cleaning and adjusting the Barraza Forte. On the road, the only way it is taken from me (quoting Heston) is, "outta my cold dead hands". Super easy to quick-adjust, clean and go again! Thanks Barb & Doug!!
Interesting way to adjust the grind size, certainly there is no way the setting would ever move, but it seems like something that one would "set and forget". It's not necessarily a bad thing too, and it shows how orphan espresso is still innovative and different. And it looks really pretty too. One thing about the inclusion of carbon fiber... How about a lido et carbon fiber bean hopper?
This is absolutely sick! I love the design and the carbon fiber. The only thing I do not like is how to get the beans in. Being a travel grinder I think there should be a safer/simpler way to feed the grinder. On my Helor 101 the catch jar can be attached on the bottom but also on the top somehow to feed the beans, meaning that you don’t « pour » the beans in, you just have the beans in your catching jar, you put the grinder on top, you turn it over and voila all your beans are inside. So quick, so convenient and zero risk to drop beans on the floor.
Design is always a trade off of one thing for another, in this case, moving the entry to the side allows for a very precise alignment, and, as important in an ultralight, the removal of several grams of weight...and really, adding the beans isn't difficult!
I like how simple it is using commodity parts. Maybe sell as a kit to save money. Shims are a little jenky, but easy to make and lose. Side fill is interesting, others on Amazon don't seem to do it that way, and there are alot on Amazon . I hope you can keep the price less than $80. I see your other ones are in the $150+ range so out of my budget - add the carbon fiber and titanium uplift, :(
Barb and Doug to the rescue! How’d you two know that I just got a new job that will have me traveling more? Honestly, being the first recipient of the Lido 2 (which I still use pretty much everyday), I’ve been looking around for the right grinder for an improved travel kit. My Geska has been great, and it’s perfect for Aeropress, but when I want to do Kalita or V60, I’d like more consistency. Being a cyclist who has both titanium and carbon bikes, I just have to have one of these. Makes sense, right? Any ETA?
No, not in any easy way - it would very likely damage the carbon fiber hopper if you tried to remove the end caps... Additionally the cone burr is pressed on the carrier, so taking those apart would also be very difficult. Everything else can be disassembled.
@@orphanespresso 😆 well I watched several more videos and was extremely impressed. You seem like an amazing family company and I can only dream of having that one day. That being said I purchase a grinder last night and am super excited to try it out. Happy new year to you and your family!

Thank you for designing and building something so excellent.

Looks great. Would it be possible to adapt the lido og adjustment assembly on a fixie?

Why there is no spring in the center to hold the gap between burrs? Doesn't it cause inconsistent ground coffee?
Are the Burr Set same as Lido Series?
Yes, the same great Etzinger Burrs are in the Fixie as the Lido
@@orphanespresso was about to ask this one. thanks!
I just love it!
Hi is it possible to send u a pavoni lever espresso machine to recondition? Thanks.
can it be fully disassembled? you know for "recreational" stuff, like with the Apex. :)

Now i am going to be pinging OE website everyday until i can order one of these.
Titanium and carbon fiber... how much is this going to cost?
Retail is $200.00
titanium, lighter than aluminum, stronger than steel, wont rust or corrode. antimicrobial and antibacterial
Barb you are fired.... what the hell are you doing with that camera.... excellent looking product though!
LOL... Sorry! Not paid enough to be fired from the job!
