Shut the hose off first.. always. This forces the engine to discharge any water left in it before you shut it off and can save any jetski from a potential hydro locking.
Had a 1990 brand new, raced it after selling my 88' to a Buddy. Did a bunch of cost effective mods, including a new impeller, and that thing ripped! I miss those days! Just turned 60 last month, and I want to buy another one of these old work-horses. Just like riding a bike, right?

I have this exact model (1992),I bought it new. It's been garaged for 20 years also. I'm going resurrect it soon.
