I shouldn't have to type this comment but I'm going to just to help everyone out.
You should play whichever perspective you find fun. This video is for comedy, not for bullying and no one is telling you to play a certain way or attacking you for your choice over where you want the camera.

Wait, this was a game? I thought that this was a real documentary of a soldiers POV during a medieval battle. Very Immersive indeed.
The real immersive Chivalry 2 experience is in first person, no HUD, wearing a 15th century french Armet helmet in real life and slowly passing out from sucking in your own carbon dioxide. Competitive players just don't get it smh

i really appreciate games that have a setting that makes your eyes adjust to the dark on the screen because otherwise the game either has unrealistic lighting or you cant see anything every time you go from a daytime scene indoors
I'm one of these people... The first-person view is inferior to a magic camera hovering over your shoulder, but it's more fun, imo. I know I die more because of it. I'm not very good in the first place, so maybe that's why it's ok for me. :D

I had a match yesterday where the enemy team was slowly pushing its way up the hill in the Lionspire map before entering the main trebuchet objective, and it was the most immersive experience ever. They slowly pushed and pushed over minutes and it was an awesome slogfest battle to the death with them slowly building up shields and archers raining hell from above, man I love this game
first person really does look so much cooler imo and it genuinely is more immersive but it just feels so awful to play. I think maybe it would feel a bit better if the movement was the same speed in all directions, that way you could look one way and move another way without being punished for it.
a free look would help but ultimately i think an incoming attack indicator would be the only way to even it out, but that gets rid of immersion.

I honestly enjoy using first person when I'm holding a halberd or spear, just because it makes it way easier to aim my stabs. There's no feeling like stabbing a guy in the dick with a spear to then smash the hell outta his face when they start to block low.
The real answer to this problem is what Mordhau did with it's third person: when you go in 3rd person in Mordhau, yor overall FOV greatly decreases, and you end up seeing exactly the same space and angle as you would see in 1st person. This is probably the perfect solution, because if you want to make switchable view modes, making one more beneficial than another is generally a bad idea. Chiv 2 just failed at copying Mordhau's almost perfect 3rd person, and tried to reinvent the wheel with it.

When the 3rd person streamer gets hit by a kick they didn't see for the 200th time in a row so they actually switch to 1st, but complain anyway:

I don't play 1st-person because it's immersive. I play it, because I can't hit shit in 3rd (besides slashes)
I always miss stabs and overheads in 3rd if someone just strafes directly in front of my character model
I am actually sad this isn't a mode, fighting with a helmet has significant drawbacks to visibility. but most games don't render the helmet, so no disadvantage. I'd kill for a realism mode that locked you to 1st person and rendered your helmet.
War of the Roses had that feature.

Honestly immersion is a perfectly reasonable explanation to play first person. Your K/D doesn’t matter since it’s just a video game, so having a fun and exhilarating experience is more of a priority imo, especially when the endgame of Chiv is just cosmetics.

Can't play 3rd because I can't stand having things in front of me blocked by my model, I dont like having to look at people at weird angles to read them and then have to turn back to them to block or counter. It also really is more immersive and saying it like the SpongeBob meme doesn't make it not true for a lot of people. I just prefer it conceptually as well, if it was up to me every videogame would be first person only so its probably good that isn't up to me.
it's hilarious to see someone else struggling with trying to be play in first person 😂 I find it fun that way but I hate not being able to see my surroundings.

It is easier to land hits in first person, and sometimes your own body is blocking vision right in front of you.
All that camera jiggling at the end made me feel as though I was watching Mordhau.

I only play first person now; I kept getting tired of my character model getting in the way of the action, and it not only helped my dueling, but now I can 1vX pretty well too. In first person, your ears are easily your best tools. If you can hear them, they're always in your line of sight.
I'll go third person with the greatsword once in a while, but that's pretty much the only weapon I can use like that anymore, and that's only if the battlefield is just pure chaos. Spears are 100% a no-go with third person, for me.
This makes me realize the missing piece of the puzzle that could probably only be corrected with VR: The ability to turn your head in first-person. It actually isn't very realistic/immersive to not be looking side to side to see if anyone is coming up outside your field of vision.
Though tbh, a person's directional hearing would probably be better too assuming a cannon hasn't gone off.
On a fully enclosed helmet directional hearing would be severely impaired, even non fully closed like the foot mans sallet helmet covers the ears and make everything sound very dull

Nah they need to just increase the literal pixel FOV you have in 1st person to like 120 or something.
This has inspired me to get eye surgery to add black bars to my vision so I can truly be Immersed.
I know it was a big joke but that was genuinely immersive. Also the tony hawk joke got a chuckle.
My most immersive moment is launching myself inside the castle walls over 500ft via catapult. Honestly I switch between 1st and 3rd depending on what I'm doing. With zoning weapons I'm usually in 3rd, and dueling-style weapons like the longsword I usually go 1st. I find it harder to pick up on certain animation telegraphs in 3rd person. Also noticed a lot of high level players are usually in 1st, I just assumed it was a holdover from Mordhau since its 3rd person camera sucked so bad.
I used to play first person almost exclusively (in Mordhau, but still) because I prefer seeing what's happening in front of me.
That windmill jump is gonna be part of my parkour inventory in this game.
All jokes aside the immersion bit is soo fucking good, I wouldn't mind playing like that.

This game is a classic example of one that shot itself in the foot mechanics wise by including 3rd person. Once you’ve mastered 3rd person it’s objectively better than 1st and there’s no reason to play 1st after that.

I love first person obviously the game becomes way easier in third person which is why I love to actually just get half decent at sword play amd positioning. You know dont let the opponent sneak behind you unless you wanna die
Imo there are some really nice aspects to first person for 1v1s with shorter weapons but as soon as it's a 1vX situation or you have a longer weapon 3rd is better

This is my first ever game in this type of genre. I started off in FPS and when I wanted to get better, everyone said 3rd person. Man the immersion loss is not worth it.
Keep playing first if you want to, there's no reason to stop just because people told you otherwise. If you have fun, then do it.
I mean I don't think 1st person is that huge of a disadvantage.... stridah is one of the best players on youtube and he crushes it on first person

third person perspective is advantageous. I used to play in fpp but I'm having way more fun in tpp actually playing the game well
I (on console) played in first person mainly cause I just didn’t like how the game felt in third. I’ve gotten more used to third person and I even play better in now but I still prefer first person idk about immersion but I certainly enjoy it better

I really would like if they implemented 1st person only servers, just like PUBG did. I enjoy playing in 1st person but makes me feel in disadvantage against people in 3rd.

There are a few Chiv 2 youtubers that play in first person and are beasts at the game, but I have no idea how the do it. I get bonked in the back of the head enough in third person.

Hold on you need to have a module hooked up to your body that delivers a simulation of blunt pounding damage whenever you get hit because I heard that in real life it hurts when you get hit by a poleaxe with armour on (idk though I don't go outside)

I play first person because I find it more fun personally. I like taking solace in the fact that I don't look like I'm having a seizure to everyone else, as that's all I see when I see someone who's blatantly in third person and just trying to accel feint into drag into dpi 10000 macro into kick.
They sohuld add a realistic mode where you got helmet blocking face in first person and locked in first person
i know i'm nerfing myself in first person but i just can't tolerate third person in this game. or most games. i can enjoy games with only that but i will look for a first person mod if i can lol

Some people can't play first person, others - third person. Luckily the game has both. Everyone can play the game the way they like. There is no need to torture yourself and whine about it afterwards.

You should do this again with max motion blur, high volume, all hud off, knight helmet overlay and you can only die once in the entire match lol.

First person makes me dizzy and yeah, can't see what's going on around me unless I make the dizziness even worse by constantly spinning around to see everything. No thanks. Annoying as hell. I mean, some people like it and that's fine... good for them.
