Among the refugees there are doctors, lawyers, academics who have been forced to flee their country. Certainly the numbers seem to some as unacceptable but are well below in comparison with the numbers that Turkey, Germany, Spain and France accept. Last year in total in the EU 965,665 people claimed asylum. Instead of empathy they are happily blamed for underinvestment by successive governments going back to the 1980’s in areas such as housing, Healthcare, Infrastructure, education. The fact that people actually believe it is staggering

I don't understand. How is Jeremy Corbyn, the guy who brought out the youth in such massive numbers and spooked the establisment so badly that they wiped every trace of him from the party and keep fighting him to this day, "the most spectacularly unpopular Labour leader in living memory"?? It's moments like these with James that really tick me off, and it feels like he's being either lazy or disingenuous about this issue and won't budge. James, did you not see all the ridiculous stuff they put in the media about Corbyn to make him so unpopular??

Such a valid point. JOB will never ever admit he got that wrong. He will never admit he is partially to blame for the situation we are in due to how he hated JC more than the Tories. Even now JC tweeting about the inhumane asylum policies. Always he has been on the right side of history. JOB infuriates me also for the same reasons.

A huge amount has been written about Corbyn’s anti-Semitism and links to anti-Semitism. I suspect by now that minds have been made up on every side and that the people who are willing to pretend that it is all a smear campaign organised by the right-wing media have deluded themselves beyond redemption. But for me, in his lifetime of support for anti-Semitic bigots wherever in the world he could find them

Not sure why people are complaining about asylum seekers being housed on a barge, so many people in the UK on waiting lists for accommodation. But, having said this the Conservatives are responsible for this mess. The complete failure to engage with the EU to resolve the matter of the flow of asylum seekers and the power to remove people back to the EU for making multiple claims for asylum in other states. Brexshit the gift that keeps on giving....

They are complaining because it was designed to house 222 and when inspected, fire doors where hung the wrong way and the fire service was concerned about the narrowness of the connecting hallways making evacuation problematic and would hinder fireman reaching the seat of any fire. Bottom line its not fit for purpose and has the potential to be another Grenfall.
