I think what hits me the most in Mark 14 is Peter's reaction when he realizes he denied Jesus three times. In the moment that he realizes this, he had to face the true poverty of his soul and realize that he wasn't the super disciple that he wanted to be. And I think God's power and depth and love meant so much more to him because of that. And what is so crazy to me is that he could have chosen the same tragic end as Judas, but he didn't. He went back to Jesus with the most painful "I'm sorry" that I can even imagine. And I just love how the moment that I picture as Peter's weakest moment could have very well been the most defining moment of his life. That even in his weakest moment, God's love was bigger -- and God's love still took him back after such a betrayal. Which is totally unfathomable to me... but like in a good way :)
I'm so glad i found this group to study and learn with. I've been in a bad way for a long time. But now I've been with the lord for a while now. To learn and understand the bible more i found this group. Ya'll been amazing at helping me to understand it better. I want to thank you all. God bless you.🙏🙏
Mark is my favorite book of the bible. Having that as a poster would be awesome! Today the phrase "couldn't keep their eyes open" stood out to me. In what ways does Jesus want us to sit with him, keep watch with him, keep vigil? Or I wonder if in our generation it's to actually pay attention. I think today it would be, "and the disciples couldn't keep from looking at their phones every five minutes. They couldn't fully be present with Jesus for the time he needed"
It is the most beautiful tragedy that ever happen to the world and man kind, my pray is that all of man kind understand the unfailingly love that God and Jesus had for us all!! Thank you father for loving us even in our failings and saving us even thou we did not desver it!!! Amen
Like Peter I think we can sometimes place to much confidence in our self and not in Christ. Peter was sure in and of himself that he would never deny Jesus.
Those who walked with Jesus denied Him always makes me cry knowing they seen what He could do and still turned in Him we all are guilty and need to repent
Reading about this time in Jesus' life is always so tough. It hurts knowing our savior went through that. It just makes me more and more grateful and feel more and more blessed. He loves us so much ❤
The way how Jesus Called God the father "Abba Father" really spoke to me through today, especially how Jesus was honest in his prayer, and how he said let your will be done not mine I pray that all of us including me be honest in our prayer time and trust God as our father "Abba" knowing that he is in control and that we need to have childlike faith in trusting him.
Imagine even the apostles ddnt keep awake even as Jesus had reminded them..yes Jesus rebuked them later...we see the gentleness of our Lord even in their sin of not following Jesus' instructions.
“Abba, Father,” he said, “everything is possible for you. Take this cup from me. Yet not what I will, but what you will.” Mark 14:36 NIV Jesus was hugely distressed, and He knew the Lord's plan. Although He knew it, yet He still hoped that the Lord will change the plan. Even so, He fully submitted to the Lord's plan. This is something that we need learn from Jesus: to be submissive, knowing that the Lord has a great plan for us, and we need to trust Him.
So much happening here in this chapter. It's so hard to see Judas who side by side did ministry with Jesus betray him and Peter as well later on. But I can't help feeling as though I may have even reacted the same way. What mercy Jesus has on all of us for our sin and unbelief. PS you are the man Darren for editing Jareds comment at the end 😂
I wonder if there are ways we are like those complaining at the use of expensive perfume on Jesus' feet. I could see myself being one of those people if I were there. Thinking about how many needy people could be helped..
can you guys send the poster her to South Brazil? or maybe i am late, just kidding..... Have a good sunday everyone,,,, Please pray for Brazil, presidential election is today, pray for us, pls. Lord blesses us all.
Oh very interesting verse 32 in gathsename asks the cup to be taken away but not at his will but ,the of God but God let him have the cup for me and in verse 55 it came to pass that, that he that was sinless became sin that i would be free .glory glory thank you jesus.
Jesus said of his betrayer that it would be better if they had not been born, and yet if Judas had not committed the act that he was born to do then Jesus would not have died for our sins, none of us would have been offered salvation. This really confuses me. Where is Judas now? If he is in a place of condemnation surely that is very harsh for fulfilling a role he had no control over? Can you help me understand? Thanks.
That's a good question. Most scholars would say that Judas had free will to make his choice and God used that choice to bring about his purposes...so Judas was responsible for his actions but God, being all-knowing, used that evil for his purposes. Does that help clarify it?
@@BranchTogether No it doesn't answer my question. I have read in the Bible that Judas was born to fulfill this role . He had no choice, I don't think he had free will.
Please pray for my daughter , that she can pass it with good marks. That May The God our Lord Jesus Christ helps her in passing the exam .Her examination is tomorrow at 12
I’m sure the most important and disheartening part of this chapter is Why would Judas portray Jesus after learning the truth and miracles of God. How Judas was able to befriend Jesus by a kiss on his face and sentencing him to death on the cross. This is so sad and hurtful.
When he was praying was it really because he was weak and asking not to do that? He knew he had to though. Was that part of his humanity showing or do you think he was doing that as an teaching example or what?
Good question. I think Jesus was fully human enough to cry out and ask to be spared. Ultimately, he resolved to moves forward as he knew he needed to...but this was not an easy task! Entirely possible there is an element of being an example as well.

Thank you for this

Really enjoying the book of Mark and so sad that Jesus was betrayed, even if it was to fulfill scripture.
“Abba, Father,” he said, “everything is possible for you. Take this cup from me. Yet not what I will, but what you will.”
Mark 14:36 NIV

I love the "yeaeeeaaa" -can we isolate that for various points in sermons?

What cud be the significance of that young man wd a linen..he run away
Peter knowing he was with son of God still denies Jesus. Walking and conversing. How could one deny knowing who Jesus was?
Still looking for an answer to the question I asked 2 weeks ago. Can anyone help?
😇
I know I’m late but is it still possible to win the poster 🙈😀?
As I contemplate peters denial, it seems Jesus doesn’t merely predict it, Peters denial of Jesus seems to happen because Jesus said so!
