    I love this....even as a 'mature' adult, I dream of the high swings and the fun we had as kids. Of course, that was when they had the HUGE Industrial swing sets in schools, with no rubber mulch under them. It was great exercise, too. Would love one of these!

    My son really love swurfer swing, he love to take on new challenges and spend some quality time playing outside. I am planning to get wood tree swings but he prefer a more challenging one as swurfer. I had my choices already on treeswingstore.com and will get one soon.

    Nice job, great idea. @4:05 when you are showing how the rope is attached to the quick link though, I think this is a future weak point in the system; all the weight is coming down on that single point on the rope and while it's not rubbing, long term I wouldn't trust it. It would be simple to incorporate something to increase the surface radius the rope is going around, to mimic the larger surface area of a tree branch. Just a thought, nice setup!

      That's a good point. You could put a thimble in there.

    Looks fun as heck! I have a backyard of 20 acres of trees and a huge hill with a creek that splits the property 9 acres on one side and 11 on the other. I already put up 2 300ft ziplines and gonna put one from the top of the hill to this huge oak tree at the front of our property next to the gravel road I've measured a little over 1700 ft. One of the ziplines that I call the adult zipline has a 43 ft drop from the bottom side of the big hill that everyone loves after their first time but after the drop off you go another 200ft across to the platform way up in the tree where the ride ends. We moved to this place in Tonganoxie Kansas 2 years ago and I was planning on putting up deer stands and doing some bow hunting but haven't shot the bow once cause it's like a theme park now and I'm not even close to being done with all the ideas I have to improve the place. Needless to say all the grandbabies want to move in and dont wanna leave when it's time to go home, I think the adult kids would move back in to if I built a large tree house haha. I've never heard of a Swurfer but I have a perfect spot to do some Swurfing. Thanks for the video👍

    Very cool! What if the rider is 250lbs? Would you toss the standard ropes > drill slightly larger holes in the board > and the use stronger rope? Ever been done? Thanks!

    • @PatrickBrandt
      @PatrickBrandt  4 роки тому

      I wouldn't do that as I think the weak link is the board itself, not the ropes.

    Patrick. I’m using this same set up for our swurfer. I can’t figure out what type of rope winch you used to get the correct tension. Can you tell me???

    Is there any deterioration of the wire or chain at the connection point? I have seen eye bolts wear out with swing usage. I was considering using 1 U clamp to hold the chain to the wire and immobilize it.

    Do u ever come to Atlanta to do installations or do u know of anyone in Atlanta who would do it?
    The house is in Peachtree Corners on the north side of Atlanta. How much do u charge?

    I just got a quote for the install in Marietta, GA and it is $400. They recommended not doing the line across at 40' up because of the danger of a 'fishing pole' whip of the trees above the line in winds or storm. Any detailed advice or resources is appreciated.

      @@grantbennion I did not do a large install like in the video. Mine is in the front yard about 15-20ft up. I think if I would have done the higher version - it would be more exciting.

    The Swurfer site says to hang their swings the same number of feet out on the limb as the limb is in height above the ground, so for example a 20 ft high limb would be hung 20 ft from the trunk. That seems excessive because you would have to be completely horizontal to hit the trunk. I noticed that you have the center point 1/2 that distance from each trunk. In your experience is 1/2 the distance like you did here just as safe?

    • @PatrickBrandt
      @PatrickBrandt  3 роки тому +1

      Yes. I have found that a swurfer anchored between two trees that are 30 feet apart for example can have the swurfer cable mounted at 28 feet high (about 90-95% of the distance between the trees). It is rare that someone is such a strong swurfer that they can get the ropes to be 45 degree from vertical.

      kyle patrick jorgensen You can buy that cable from most online Arborist supply stores. It usually comes in 200 foot rolls. Home improvement stores don't stock it. Email me if you want a supply list with links. My email address is at my website www.piedmonttreeclimbing.org

    do you have a list of tree climbers/installers in washington state trained who could do this for me at my property? there are few wide, splaying deciduous trees with big enough branches for a normal install in washington. So need the two tree method (douglas fir, likely)?

    • @PatrickBrandt
      @PatrickBrandt  6 років тому

      Hi Travis. I don't know anyone who installs tree swing in Washington, but you can call your local tree care companies and ask them if they would be willing to install your dream swing. Most tree care companies that do cabling and bracing will have the supplies and expertise needed to install a swing like this.
