Aussie here. Very happy to get that win (unexpectedly), but let's not get carried away. Rugby is a minor, niche sport here in Au and faces huge challenges. But, this is the first time in 2 years that the Wallabies have beaten a higher-ranked team, and currently we have the same number of RC wins as NZ 😉 So for this week at least, I feel ok. But next week may well be different. Is Australian rugby moving forward? Possibly, but so are glaciers. Again - rugby faces massive challenges in Au and they won't be resolved even in a few years (if ever?).
I think it’s too early to tell! If they beat the argies next time I may be more inclined to agree. Until then, I think it’s safe to say that this is a long-term project and needs time
Good win Argentina are tough how much better do they look with Bell and Tupou playing they been injured to much Bobby V fantastic ball carrier Ikitauis class Mcreight to comeback Oz got some good players to build on
Yup there is a slight improvement. Doing the basics well and getting on with it playing to your strengths. The rest of us need Australia to be competitive in world rugby 🏉
The answer is NO! One swallow does not make a summer. Terrible weather and a last gasp win. 22 phases and no gain line carries. Ask the question after 3 consecutive wins.
Ok Now look at Lineout percentage Scrum percentage The penalty count No yellow cards And the best ruck percentage of the entire tournament. With an average age in the forward pack of 24.....
They haven't turned a corner, but I listened to a podcast where Jeremy Paul (Former Wallabie hooker) basically said the same thing. But what it does do is fill the belief cup (Jeremy Pauls words). And if anyone knows Australian athletes and teams, when it comes to sport, once they are riding high on confidence they grow an extra arm and leg. While they are probably off the pace at the moment, they are only a year or two away to being real contenders at the next RWC. I wouldn't be so quick to write off the Wallabies. Given the Melbourne Rebels are no longer in Super Rugby, that means their player based will be condensed into 4 teams, which is only going to make those teams stronger and more competitive - the result of that, is a stronger Wallabies side.

It's not easy beating Argentina in Argentina so let's not be too hard on the Wallabies.
