Over the years, we've staged many, many drag races. Too many to count. But this could be the best one yet, and it doesn't involve a single car.
The Bajaj Qute arrived in South Africa and caused a social media storm quite unlike anything we've ever seen. It may look like a car, but technically it is a "quadricycle" - or 4-wheeled motorbike. It is powered by a 216cc motorbike engine mounted under the rear seats, and all 8.08kW of power are sent to the rear wheels.
In this video, the Bajaj is taking on something with two wheels...and two legs. Cars.co.za's resident racing driver Ashley Oldfield is not only a superb racing driver, but he's also an incredible rider of bicycles. With 1.2kW of max power output, sent to the rear wheel, could Ashley take on this form of motorised transport and win?

My friend and I did a similar test in the late 1980s. We raced a moped and his bike similar to the bicycle used in this video. I thought the moped had an advantage. So we gave it a time penalty. Here they gave the Qute a weight penalty. We had the same result. The bicycle left the moped in the dust. The motor powered vehicles should have an advantage for steep hillclimbs however. The flatter ground gives advantages to the bicycle. Both the moped and the Qute have max speeds. The moped had a speed governor for 36 km/hr or 22 mph. The Qute's rev limiter holds at 70 km/r or 42 mph.

Its a common vehicle in india. This vehicle easly run through up hills. And also this is not a sports car this car is made for people who can,t afford a car.
Years ago I lived in Los Angeles. In morning traffic on the way to work I was often passed by the same Hippy on a bicycle. It wasn't that he was fast, the traffic stank. If it wasn't so far to where I reported to work I would have rode a bicycle as well.
I liked this race, it reminded me of my morning drive and the envy I felt.
Let’s not forget the safety features you still have over a bicycle; like your lungs as airbags, and limbs as crumple zones.
