Uncle Rico is one of the most tragic characters of all time. I used to laugh at his antics as a kid but now they're just poignant and depressing. I should have had a better life too Uncle Rico...I feel you brother....
I felt bad watching oz, one of the guards was getting scouted by the Sacramento kings after playing a game with an nba star prisoner played by Rick fox. The prisoners were all betting on the game so a guy sliced his Achilles before the rematch and gave him a permanent limp. He had to keep working at the prison and he got placed on desk duty because he couldn’t move that good
0:56 this is my absolute favorite gag in the whole movie and no one ever talks about. After all that speech, it cuts to Kip and he wasn't even listening. I love it and I love how subtle it is. Any other comedy would have had Rico pointing out that Kip isn't even listening, over doing the gag. I love this movie!
It's the subtle nuances that make this movie so incredible. It's been one of my favorites since the moment it came out. No one else got it except me it seemed, and I found it hilarious. Now I come to the comments of ND vids and I know I've found my fellow weirdos.
"Back in 82', I used to be able to throw a pig skin a quarter mile"....this part always cracked me up so much. That is roughly 4 1/2 football field lengths. Dude must have had a hellova arm back in High School.
As silly as this movie is, the actor that plays Uncle Rico is absolutely amazing. I mean he’s crazy talented in the way that you actually BELIEVE that his character is a real person. Those eyes at 0:50 just dreaming into the mountain range. I mean when do we see this sort of acting really? Ridiculous film (I loved it!) but completely underrated acting by these pros.

One of the most underrated scenes is the free “mini sailboat” gift with the purchase of the 24 piece set of tubaware. It’s like offering a free dollhouse with the purchase of a set of cookware. Pure comedic genius.
